Exclusive: Luther and Hijack star Idris Elba is set to direct singer Seal, Nollywood stars Nse Ikpe-Etim (Shanty Town), Eku Edewor (Breath Of Life) and Atlanta Bridget Johnson (Man Of God), and former Nigerian Idol contestant Constance Olatunde in short film Dust To Dreams.
The film is a collaboration between Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Films and African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).
Set against the backdrop of Lagos, Nigeria, the film follows the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter as she meets her father for the first time.
Created by the Mo Abudu, and written and directed by Elba, Mo Abudu will serve as both executive producer and producer, with Heidi Uys as supervising producer. Alongside Abudu and Uys on the project are producers Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.

Amazon Prime Video is expanding its footprint in Africa with a three-picture deal with Lagos City-based production house Nemsia Films.
The first feature in the deal will be Breath of Life. Described as an inspirational story about life and destiny, it is written and directed by Nemsia co-founder Bb Sasore and produced by Eku Edewor.
“We are very excited to collaborate with Nemsia Films on this pioneering slate deal, which will complement our growing lineup of local Nollywood content for Prime Video customers,” said Ayanna Lonian, director of Content Acquisition and head of Worldwide Major Studio Licensing Strategy, Prime Video.
“This slate deal supports our goal to showcase Nollywood at its best, by telling authentic homegrown stories in a range of genres to Prime Video customers around the world.”
Nemsia Films was co-founded by Derin Adeyokunnu and Sasore and has become a hub for developing young and emerging talent across Nollywood.

The first title to be announced under the deal is “Breath of Life,” written and directed by Bb Sasore, Nemsia’s co-founder, and produced by Eku Edewor. The film is “an inspirational story about life and destiny where one must live to fulfil their purpose and cannot die until this is done,” according to the logline.
The following two films will be announced later in the year.
