- Liviu Sandulescu is a Romanian film director and screenwriter, who graduated from the National University of Drama and Film in Bucharest, in 2008, with a B.A. degree in film directing. In 2013, his first short film, "Betoniera" ("The Cement Mixer") had its world premiere in the International Competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France), being subsequently selected for more than 20 festivals around the world. The film won the "Best Fiction Short Film Award" in the International Competition of Vilnius International Film Festival, the "Best Short Film Award" in the National Competition of NexT International Film Festival in Bucharest, and "Best Fiction Short Film Award" at the Romanian Filmmakers Union Annual Awards. The short film can be watched for free (english subtitles) on the cinepub.ro platform. In 2019, "Carturan", his feature film debut had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (South Korea) and the European one at Warsaw Film Festival (Poland), being released in cinemas in Romania soon after. Next year, the movie was selected for several European film festivals, was bought by Netflix Romania and won the Romanian Filmmakers Union's award for Best Feature Film Screenplay.
