The Chicago Fire cast has added another new face for Season 12.
It’s already been a season of change at Firehouse 51, and that continues with the next new episode.
Exits are happening frequently this season, beginning with Firefighter Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) leaving Chicago in the season premiere.
Paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) married Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and then moved to Portland. Her exit was a tough one for the fans.
New Paramedic Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) dropped in for two episodes but wasn’t a good fit at the firehouse. Chief Boden sent him packing – a decision that could lead to repercussions later.
A new episode of Chicago Fire introduced another new paramedic. But she might stick around for a while, especially since Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) took a liking to her.
Here is the latest news on Jake Gibson (Rome Flynn).

Chicago Fire continues to shake up its cast as TV newcomer Michael Bradway (Marked Men) is set to join the NBC drama in a recurring role. As reported by Deadline, Bradway will play charming firefighter Jack Damon and is expected to make his first appearance in episode 10, airing next Wednesday, April 10. While the role is currently in a recurring capacity, Deadline reports he could potentially become a series regular next season. Bradway joins the show amid a series of casting changes. On Friday, March 29, it was reported that Acapulco actress Jocelyn Hudon has joined the cast in a recurring role as a new paramedic. These new hires come after the exits of Chicago Fire regulars Alberto Rosende (Gallo), who only appeared in the first episode of Season 12, and Kara Killmer (Sylvie), who departed on the February 28 episode to start a new life in Portland, Oregon, with her new husband, Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey.

Firehouse 51 has lost another one of its own. New Chicago Fire cast member Rome Flynn has exited the NBC drama after six episodes.

Flynn joined Chicago Fire at the beginning of season 12 as new recruit Derrick Gibson, an ex-boxer with a troubled past. He took a spot on Truck 81 previously occupied by Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), who left the show in the season premiere to move to Detroit.
Unfortunately, Gibson’s time at 51 was brief. As he eventually revealed to Carver (Jake Lockett), he’d embarked on a career as a firefighter after accidentally killing a man during a boxing match. But the trauma from that incident still haunted him. He was also abusing drugs in an attempt to cope with his mental health issues.

The Chicago Fire wedding for Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett finally happened.
It was a family affair, with Firehouse 51 making up many attendants.
The Darden boys were there, Kelly Severide returned to be Casey’s best man, and Brett’s new baby had a front-row seat.
One scene even focused on the son of Joe Cruz, whom he named after their fallen firefighter friend Otis.
The small nod to Otis was nice, as was having Trudy Platt (Mouch’s wife) in attendance to celebrate Brettsey.
Amelia was even there, standing near a fish tank during the wedding. But not every Chicago Fire fan remembered who she was.
Who is Amelia on Chicago Fire?
Amelia is the daughter of Sylvie Brett’s biological mother. Her mother, Julie, died in childbirth. Since then, Brett has tried to be involved in Amelia’s life.
Amelia is Brett’s maternal half-sister. Though there is a considerable age difference,...

Kara Killmer will be quick to tell you that playing her Firehouse 51 paramedic character Sylvie Brett has been daunting at times, while she focused on saving the lives of traumatized citizens for 10 years on NBC’s Chicago Fire. But, just as the resilient paramedic never wavered in fighting for a stranger’s life on the show, one could argue that Brett never gave up on the idea of true love, either.
Then, it happened! Across a 10-season arc, viewers watched Brett and firefighter Lieutenant Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) culminate from close friendship to a love story that some would call a fairytale. Sure, there were dips and low points in Sylvie and Matt’s romance, but they seemed to always find their way back to one another.

Brettsey has officially left Chicago. Kara Killmer, who has portrayed Sylvie Brett for 199 episodes on “Chicago Fire” (and dozens of “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D” episodes), makes her final appearance on the Feb. 28 episode, marrying Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and moving to Portland with him.
“It’s bittersweet, but it’s definitely more sweet than bitter,” she tells Variety of the end of Brett’s journey on the NBC procedural. “I’m so happy that Sylvie gets her happy ending, and it’s a great closure for her tenure.”
For Killmer, Brett marrying Casey is the “natural” end for her storyline — especially because Sylvie came to 51 after being left at the altar: “She came to Chicago trying to start fresh and then ends up across the aisle from the love of her life, finally getting everything that she always wanted and have this patchwork family together. It’s such a perfect ending for her.

No matter where they go, Firehouse 51 will always be their home.
Boden reminds Brett and Casey of that in the latest Chicago Fire promo, but we didn't need the reminder.
We know that no matter who comes and goes at this unique firehouse, their friends will always be waiting with a warm hug when they return.
This long-awaited union will be bittersweet.
As much as we've cheered for Sylvie and Brett to land in each other's arms, we've always known that if they take that plunge, the more permanent ties to Firehouse 51 and Chicago itself would be severed.
Thankfully, Matt Casey's work often brings him close to his friends in Chicago, so there is still a chance he'll return now and again even if his love will be by his side in Portland.

Wedding bells ring in Kara Killmer’s final episode on Chicago Fire. A new promo for the Wednesday, February 28 episode features Matt (Jesse Spencer) and Sylvie’s (Kilmer) wedding in a fish store.
Along with good wishes for the happy couple are goodbyes for Kilmer’s Sylvie. It was revealed late last year that Killmer would be exiting the series in the 12th season.
In the promo for the “Port in the Storm” episode, Boden (Eamonn Walker) officiates the ceremony, telling Sylvie “No, matter how far you go, 51 will always be your home.” The video also shows Severide (Taylor Kinney) as Matt’s best man.
Per the description, in the episode, Firehouse 51 welcomes back some familiar faces and says goodbye to Sylvie. Violet scrambles to decorate Brett’s wedding venue. And a call at the expo center takes a shocking turn.

The big day is finally here: Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey are getting married during next Wednesday’s Chicago Fire, which marks Kara Killmer’s final episode as the paramedic.

Chicago Fire has some important upcoming episodes, including the one where Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey finally get married.
Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) have had a rollercoaster relationship on the show.
They became fast friends, and a spark had developed between them. But Casey was married to Gabby for years, so they never explored it.
When Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) moved to Puerto Rico, it opened the door for Brett and Casey, but he still harbored feelings for his ex-wife.
The writers finally let Brett and Casey get together romantically in Season 10, shortly before Casey moved to Portland. The long-distance thing also didn’t work for them.
Casey returned in the season finale for Chicago Fire last spring, popping the question to Brett. The fans were robbed of seeing her answer, but Season 12 began with Brett wearing the ring.

Change is coming to Chicago Fire. Two more cast members are leaving the NBC drama in season 12. Kara Killmer and Alberto Rosende are exiting the series, following the departure of Jesse Spencer as a full-time cast member in season 10. What’s behind the cast exodus? Showrunner Andrea Newman recently weighed in on the show’s evolution.
‘Things need to change,’ says ‘Chicago Fire’ showrunner
While saying goodbye to beloved characters like Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett might be hard for fans, closing the door on some stories is necessary to keep the show fresh, Newman said in a recent interview with TVLine.
“Honestly, longevity is really just part of it,” she said. “[In] storytelling and in terms of real life, 12 years is a long time, and things need to change, just dynamic-wise. You want new characters, and you want new dynamics.”

Over the past year, fans of NBC’s #OneChicago shows have gotten used to frequent headlines announcing that a cast member has exited or plans to depart the Dick Wolf-produced franchise.
Last season, Chicago Med bid adieu to three series regulars: Guy Lockard, who played Ed pediatrician Dr. Dylan Scott, plus original stars Brian Tee (aka Dr. Ethan Choi) and Nick Gehlfuss (Dr. Will Halstead). Meanwhile, longtime Chicago P.D. star Jesse Lee Soffer (Jay Halstead) left the cop drama in Season 10’s third episode.

With so many looming departures between seasons, it makes sense that Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 1 made it a focal point.
Two series regulars will be off the canvas by midseason, and a recurring character has already moved on to another house.
That's how life works. People move in and out of our lives. Some make an incredible impact, and others disappear from our minds as soon as they've gone.
Even without knowing change was coming and that it would have to be addressed, Chicago Fire Season 12 was already going to be different.
The multiple strikes so soon on the heels of the pandemic is a one-two whammy that not only makes the past few seasons more precious but offers little time to give characters a proper sendoff.

The crew at Firehouse 51 is back in action. Chicago Fire returned for its 12th season on Jan. 17. And while this season will be shorter than usual due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes, it doesn’t look like it will be lacking in drama. The season premiere, “Barely Gone,” picked up six months after the end of season 11 and quickly answered our biggest questions about Severide, Brett, and others while setting the stage for episodes to come.

Let’s get this cliffhanger out of the way first. When we last saw Mouch (Christian Stolte) he was bleeding out in the hospital after being injured by sniper fire. While the season 11 finale left his fate up in the air, the season 12 premiere quickly reveals that he pulled through. Now, he’s back at 51 after six months of rehab.

We can now rule out two things when it comes to Kara Killmer’s forthcoming exit from Chicago Fire: Wednesday’s Season 12 premiere (NBC, 9/8c) will not be the actress’ final episode, and her swan-song arc as Sylvie Brett will not go according to the paramedic’s plan.
Last we saw Brett, she was on the cusp of adopting baby Julia and was being proposed to by on-and-off ex-boyfriend Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer), who got down on bended knee, diamond ring in hand. “Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids...

“What? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Chicago Fire executive producer Andrea Newman jokes when asked about that ring we can see on paramedic Sylvie Brett‘s (Kara Killmer) finger in the Season 12 premiere photos. Last spring’s finale ended with her ex-boyfriend, firefighter Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), in town visiting as Brett was trying to move the pieces into place to adopt a baby she met on a call, proposing. “I got something about a year and a half ago, and I wanted to give it to you before I go back to Portland,” he said before getting down on one knee. “Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids the luckiest family in the world and marry me?” Well, it looks like her answer is yes! But Newman cautions us not to get too excited. “When we see Brett in the premiere,...

Chicago Fire is back, and so is Kelly Severide. After abruptly departing the Windy City in season 11, Taylor Kinney’s character is returning to Firehouse 51. Chicago Fire will say goodbye to Kara Killmer during the NBC show’s twelfth season, Deadline has confirmed. It is as yet unknown how many episodes her character Sylvie Brett will appear in.
Killmer joined the popular procedural during its third season with Sylvie serving as a central character throughout. Jesse Spencer, who played her love interest Matt Casey, departed from the show in 2021 but has returned as a guest star.
In the Season 11 finale, Matt proposed to Sylvie and at the time we guessed it could mean Spencer could return to the show. Instead, it appears the relationship could end in marriage with the pair riding off into the sunset together. The idea is certainly on trend as this was how Brian Tee and Yaya Dacosta departed Chicago Med as well as Nick Gehlfuss and Torrey DeVitto on the same series.
What could that mean for Chicago P.D.

A fan-favorite character could be coming back to Chicago Fire. Kelly Severide actor Taylor Kinney, who took a leave of absence from the NBC drama early in 2023, is rumored to return in the show’s upcoming 12th season.

Heading into Chicago Fire Season 11, Kinney was one of a handful of cast members who had been with the show since it premiered in 2012. So, fans were understandably stunned when he made an abrupt exit in early 2023. His most recent appearance was in the show’s Feb. 22 episode. Later in the season, his wife Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) learned that he was no longer in the training program and was instead taking part in an Atf investigation at an unnamed location. Kelly Severide's leave of absence is over.
Deadline reports that the first batch of scripts for Chicago Fire Season 12 includes Taylor Kinney's fan-favorite character.
The news comes nine months after the actor took a leave of absence from the NBC procedural as he dealt with a personal matter.
There were rumors that Severide would resurface at the close of Chicago Fire Season 11, but when that didn't happen, there was speculation the actor could be done with the series.
The series has lost countless stars over the years, but Kinney has been front and center since the series' 2012 premiere.
His last appearance on-screen was on Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 14, which aired on February 22, 2023.
Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 15 revealed that Severide has gone to Alabama for an arson investigation training program.

Severide is back. After a 10-month break, Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney is set to return to NBC’s firefighter drama at the start of its upcoming 12th season.
As Deadline reported earlier this month, the Chicago Fire writers room opened the week of October 4. According to sources, the first batch of scripts for the new season feature Kinney’s Kelly Severide. His future appearances beyond that are not confirmed, but I hear the actor’s return is expected to be full-time.
As Deadline previously reported exclusively, Kinney has been on a leave of absence since January, dealing with a personal matter. Despite rampant speculation, the fan favorite did not come back for the Season 11 finale. Instead, Chicago Fire alum Jesse Spencer, who starred as Matt Casey alongside Kinney for 10 seasons, returned for two guest appearances last spring, including in the season finale, to help fill the void.

Is a Chicago Fire couple not only about to get back together but also take a major step forward in their relationship? That’s (partly) how the Season 11 finale left off in May. Firefighter Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) left Chicago pretty soon after he and paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) finally got together after seasons of will they/won’t they, and they couldn’t make a long-distance relationship work, breaking up via a phone call. But he did return for a couple visits, including the aforementioned finale, after a possible lead in the Homeland Security case he’d been working. That coincided with a major moment in Brett’s personal life: her attempt to adopt a baby from a call. She just needed the mother to reclaim custody long enough to make the paramedic the baby’s legal guardian. Though she was still with Dylan at the time, she...
