If hand-drawn animation ever needed a jump start at Disney, now’s the time. Maybe “Once Upon a Studio,” the hybrid short where 2D takes center stage in a multi-character crossover, will provide the first baby step. But even if it’s only a momentary 100th-anniversary legacy booster, it’s a cause for celebration as 543 newly animated characters (mostly hand-drawn) leap out of their photographs in the live-action Roy E. Disney Animation building to roam the halls and gather outside for a group photo.
The short premieres October 15 during ABC’s “The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration.” It will not play in front of “Wish” but will have an Oscar-qualifying run at the El Capitan in Hollywood. One of the great treats is watching Mickey stop and pay tribute to Walt’s portrait underscored by 94-year-old legendary composer Richard Sherman play “Feed the Birds” from “Mary...

House of Dolls refers to the house where three estranged, to put it mildly, sisters Diana, Helen (Taylor Cox) and Charlotte are forced to deal with each other in order to collect an inheritance.
Considering how much they hate each other there must be a lot of money at stake to make the three of them plus Charlott’s boyfriend Justin spend a weekend in a house built to resemble a giant dollhouse. But, according to their grandmother Celine his final wish was that they reconcile so here they are.
Large sums of money might also explain the masked killer who’s roaming Los Angeles killing anyone with a connection to the girls. That ranges from one of their boyfriends to the manager of the club where aspiring...

"You don't have to be your mother. You get to define you, mama." Film Movement has debuted an official trailer for an indie dramedy titled Queen of Glory, featuring actress Nana Mensah who writes, directs, and stars in this film. It first premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival last year, and also played at tons of other fests including Melbourne, Reykjavik, Vancouver, Hamptons, London, Warsaw, and San Diego. Queen of Glory is a "tightly-conceived, witty and compassionate love letter to the Bronx" that's at once a view into a tight-knit community, and an intensely relatable drama-comedy for anyone with a family. It looks quite good and especially authentic. Ghanaian-American Sarah is set to abandon her Ivy League doctoral program to follow her married lover across the country, until she must take over running a small Christian bookstore in the Bronx. Nana Mensah stars with Meeko Gattuso, Russell G. Jones, Oberon K.A. Adjepong,...

Exclusive: Film Movement has acquired U.S. rights to the dramedy Queen of Glory, written, directed by and starring Nana Mensah, from Magnolia Pictures International, with plans to release it in theaters and on digital and VOD later this year.
In her debut feature, Mensah plays Sarah, a Ghanaian-American doctoral student at Columbia University who is weeks away from following her very married boyfriend to Ohio when her mother dies suddenly, leaving her as the owner of the small, Bronx-based Christian bookstore, King of Glory. Tasked with planning a culturally respectful funeral befitting the family matriarch, Sarah is forced to juggle the expectations of her loving, yet demanding family while also navigating the reappearance of her estranged father. Aided by an only-in-New York ensemble of Eastern European neighbors, feisty African aunties and a no-nonsense ex-con co-worker, she faces her new responsibilities while figuring out how to remain true to herself.

We felt pretty confident someone would die at the end of "Euphoria" season two. We weren't sure who it would be - maybe Nate (Jacob Elordi), maybe Fezco (Angus Cloud), or maybe someone totally different. It turns out, it's someone different, and yet not surprising in the slightest. It all comes down to an intense scene in Fez's house that results in a rain shower of bullets.
Who Dies in the "Euphoria" Season 2 Finale?
Earlier in the season, Custer (Tyler Chase) tells Faye (Chloe Cherry) that he's talking to the cops about Mouse's (Meeko) death, which Ashtray (Javon Walton) is responsible for. It's hard to tell at first what Faye might do with this information. Custer is her boyfriend, after all, but Fez has been there for her in a way no one else has. Would she give Fez a heads up that Custer is working with the police to arrest him and Ash,...

Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t watched Season 1 of “Euphoria,” you are about to be spoiled on the whole thing!
Winter formal was in full swing at East Highland, a daydreamer was at an abortion clinic, hearts were broken at the train station, and there was a nearly 15-minute sequence in which no one talked but a gospel choir in maroon sweats sang — such was the finale of Season 1 of HBO’s “Euphoria.” It’s been more than two years since the eighth episode of “Euphoria” aired on Aug. 8, 2019, and though two special episodes dropped during the pandemic before Season 2, it can be hard to recall all of the things— and there were so, so many — that happened in that finale.
The specials gave fans peace of mind that Rue (Zendaya) had not died of an overdose, in spite of her powerful dance sequence suggesting otherwise, and allowed viewers to...

In addition to the title heroine, “Mulan” starred Eddie Murphie as a small red dragon named Mushu, who serves as a guardian for Mulan throughout the movie. Shot with a budget of £42,000 on the streets of Greenwich Village, this uplifting comedy about two teenage graffiti artists has been wowing festival audiences
Gimme the Loot, says its writer-director Adam Leon, is an "epic". And that is accurate enough if you allow for one or two transgressions. The film pays tribute to an imperial city – New York – rather than an empire or nation state, and its hero and heroine, teenage graffiti writers Malcolm (Ty Hickson) and Sofia (Tashiana Washington), wear baggy T-shirts and travel by subway, not ship. But their quest is a grand one: to tag the giant plastic apple that rises from the ground at Citi Field whenever the Mets hit a home run. Great publicity, and a coup in their ongoing graffiti civil war; Bronx writers putting their stamp on a Queens landmark.
Although Leon's script – full of New York nuance and know-how – pits the two boroughs against each other,...
