Olivia Wilde will direct and Margot Robbie will star in an adaptation of comic book Avengelyne, it’s been announced.
Comic book writer Rob Liefeld’s biggest success is undoubtably Deadpool, which Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick brought to the screen to huge critical and commercial success – Deadpool And Wolverine, which sees Hugh Jackman reprise his iconic role, will be released in UK cinemas on the 26th July. You can watch the trailer here.
Warner Bros is now very close to closing a deal on another of Liefeld’s comics, Avengelyne. Furthermore, Margot Robbie – as you probably gleaned from the cunning headline to this piece – is circling the lead role.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Avengelyne is an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters. She was the most feared warrior in heaven’s Warhost, having single-handedly broken into Pandemonium,...

Warner Bros. in Talks to Land ‘Avengelyne’ With Margot Robbie Eyeing to Star, Tony McNamara to Write
The feature adaptation of “Avengelyne” from Olivia Wilde, Margot Robbie and “X-Men” producer Simon Kinberg is being set up at Warner Bros. The studio is close to finalizing a seven-figure film rights deal.
Robbie is eyeing the role of the titular angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters. “Deadpool” co-creator Rob Liefeld first brought the comic book character to life in 1995. “Poor Things” scribe Tony McNamara will pen the screenplay.
“This incredibly humbling journey to bring Avengelyne to life onscreen started through my relationship with super-producer Simon Kinberg who told me he had a perfect fit for the material and asked me to trust him,” Liefeld told Variety in an exclusive statement. “Next thing I’m meeting with Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde and the connection was electric! They told me that they wanted Tony McNamara to write it, and after...

If you thought Ruby Sunday's (Millie Gibson) declaration that one of the situations she and The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) find themselves in for Doctor Who's new season is "so Bridgerton" was the only reference to the Netflix period romp, you would be mistaken. Because Queen Charlotte herself, Golda Rosheuvel, is also among the guest stars for the new season.
Rosheuvel will appear in the first episode of the latest run, playing a character named Jocelyn who collides with our dynamic duo. "It’s been amazing to see the whole world appreciate Golda’s talents, because of Bridgerton, and it’s been an absolute joy to invite her to Cardiff to help launch Ncuti and Millie’s first season," says showrunner Russell T. Davies.

The Doctor Who simultaneous global premiere arrives in May, and the episode titles for the season have now been revealed.
In addition, another guest star has been added to the cast. In the Julie Anne Robinson directed Space Babies, Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) joins Doctor Who as Jocelyn.
“It’s been amazing to see the whole world appreciate Golda’s talents, because of Bridgerton, and it’s been an absolute joy to invite her to Cardiff to help launch Ncuti and Millie’s first season,” said Russell T Davies, the Doctor Who showrunner.
New episodes will debut weekly across BBC iPlayer, BBC One and outside of the UK on Disney+ (where available), with the Steven Moffat-penned adventure Boom up next, followed by 73 Yards, Dot and Bubble, Rogue, and a two-part finale spread across two weeks, The Legend of Ruby Sunday and Empire of Death.

No one’s ever really gone when it comes to a timey wimey show like Doctor Who, including past showrunner Steven Moffat, who is back penning a new episode of series 14. We still know very little about his new story except that it’ll be the third episode of the series, will feature Hitchcock-style suspense, and is the second episode directed by Julie Anne Robinson after the series 14 premiere.
And now add a new detail: the episode’s title, which is simply “Boom.” Sounds explosive, indeed.

“Basically, he runs out the Tardis and says, ‘There’s something terribly wrong here,’ and sorts it out for a while, right? Then blows everything up at the last minute.”
As descriptions of Doctor Who stories go, it’s pretty solid – as well it might be, from the mouth of former showrunner and returning writer Steven Moffat. Speaking at a recent ‘In Conversation With’ event held by the University of Glasgow Screenwriting Society, as reported by RadioTimes.com, Moffat dismissed the idea that societal changes made writing for Doctor Who now a different job than it ever was.
“We are talking about a show that started in 1963 and hasn’t changed that much,” Moffat told attendees when asked about changes in representation in TV in Britain in recent years. “I think you’re slightly foolish to think it’s your job to reflect society,” he continued. “I don’t think it really is.

Ncuti Gatwa’s first series of Doctor Who is almost here – and to remind us of this, the BBC have released a full trailer.
If there’s one thing to take away from the trailer for the new series, it is this – Russell T Davies is putting every penny of the higher budget up on the screen.
With the premiere of Ncuti Gatwa’s debut series just weeks away, the marketing campaign is beginning to ramp up. First, we got the welcome news that former showrunner and Doctor Who’s most prolific writer Steven Moffat has penned an episode for the new series, which is described as “Hitchcockian” in tone. His episode was directed by Julie-Anne Robinson.
Now, we have a full trailer running to two minutes and change. It’s the most footage of the new series we’ve had so far, from the Tardis crashing through a wall,...

Margot Robbie is going from the plastic world of Barbie to the digital world of The Sims. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress’ production company, LuckyChap, has signed on to produce a movie adaptation of the long-running computer game.
The project is still in its earliest stages, but it does have a director: Kate Herron, who helmed the Disney+ series Loki and was tapped to direct some episodes of Season Two of The Last of Us. Herron will co-write the script with Briony Redman, with whom she just co-wrote an episode of Doctor Who.

Could Margot Robbie be bringing the same kind of meta introspection and examination to The Sims in the way she did with Barbie? That is a possibility of what’s to come as her production company, LuckyChap, has taken on the life simulation game for an upcoming feature film. The Sims is an immensely popular game from Maxis, the company that first let gamers play God with the legendary simulator SimCity. While the brand followed up with other similar-natured games like SimFarm, Sim Hospital and SimAnt, it was in 2000 that they gave players the chance to live life in The Sims.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Herron, who is known for her work on the first season of the successful Marvel Studios series on Disney+, Loki, is set to take the helm on the feature. Following Barbie's huge box office success and cultural footprint, Margot Robbie – who, let's not forget, shepherded the film to screens for years as well as starring — has, thanks to that and a variety of other movies, become a powerhouse producer of tricky projects Along with her LuckyChap partners, she's now attached to help bring a film based on The Sims video games to life, with Loki's first season whizz Kate Herron aboard to co-write and direct.

The long-running and hugely popular life simulator video game series The Sims is getting the movie treatment and there’s some exciting talent behind the project.
The Sims is set to be adapted into a movie, exploring the lives of its simulated suburban occupants in feature-length, cinematic glory.

Following the blockbuster success of Barbie, Margot Robbie is tackling another famous IP. As first reported by Jeff Sneider and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, a movie based on the popular video game franchise The Sims is currently being shopped to Hollywood studios by Robbie and her LuckyChap production company.
Kate Herrnon, who helmed the first season of Loki on Disney+, is on board to direct the film, and is also co-writing the screenplay with Briony Redman.
Similar to Barbie, The Sims has no real narrative or plot to go off of. Even so, studios no doubt have faith in Robbie, who, along with director/writer Greta Gerwig, turned Barbie into a billion dollar film franchise. A bidding war between studios and streams is unfolding as we speak.

According to a report, new Doctor Who companion Millie Gibson is leaving after her first series, and her replacement has been cast.
We’ve only had one hour of Ncuti Gatwa’s era of Doctor Who. However, in production terms, the second series is currently filming, and willl be broadcast in 2025.
While there are many advantages to filming so far ahead, one of the disadvantages is that information is harder to keep contained.
Which leads us to some news that was first reported by The Mirror – so do take it with a pinch of salt – but the story’s been picked up by a lot of websites, and it looks as though there’s something in this.
Apparently, Millie Gibson will leave Doctor Who after the 2024 Christmas Special. The new companion is said to be Varada Sethu, who is best known for starring in Neil Cross’ apocalyptic drama Hard Sun.

As is traditional with Christmas Day episodes, after the credits we got a teaser of the series to come. You can watch it below:

Loki director and EP Kate Herron is to co-write an upcoming episode of Doctor Who featuring Ncuti Gatwa.
Herron will write the episode with long-time collaborator Briony Redman, an actor and comedian whose work includes the Welsh crime-comedy Pont Brec with Damian Evans and award-winning short film Forget-Me-Not.
Herron is the latest big creative name to board the upcoming season from Russell T. Davies. She exec-produced and directed the entire Marvel Loki series and has also directed episodes of Sex Education, which Gatwa stars in.
Herron and Redman have collaborated on a range of work together including comic The Storkening as well as TV and film projects including the sci-fi Miss Universe and short film Smear.
Gatwa will take over as the 15th Doctor next year, following three specials in which David Tennant will return to briefly become the 14th Doctor.
“This is when I absolutely love my job,” Davies said.

Though Marvel has a solid track record of spotting early talent, Kate Herron admits that her selection to direct and EP the first season of “Loki” surprised even her. “I knew I was a wild card,” says Herron. “I knew I wasn’t going to be the most experienced person in the room, but I could be the most passionate.
