After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Since this is how it wraps up, it seems fitting that Wolfhard said it will be a return of the dynamics of the first season.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – and it’s going to continue making its way through production for quite a while longer, as new cast member Linda Hamilton has said that filming is going to take an entire year. So we’re not going to see this season, which is the final season of the show, until sometime in 2025… and star Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to the premiere date with excitement, because she says the final episodes are going to be “unbelievable.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Brown said, “There’s not much I can tease, but I know everybody’s super excited. I just think if you’ve loved the seasons before, you trust the Duffers. They’re geniuses, and they’ll bring it like no other.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – but if you were hoping that might mean the new episodes will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of 2024, or even at the beginning of 2025, new cast member Linda Hamilton is here to dash those hopes. While speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton said Stranger Things season 5 will be filming for an entire year!
Hamilton said, “It’s a year of shooting, so I couldn’t be happier. Their season takes a year to shoot, which is just an unheard-of luxury of time. But the size of their day is also so beyond any scale that we’re used to.“

One of the new characters introduced in season 4 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was Argyle, a pothead delivery boy for Surfer Boy Pizza who helps some of the returning characters get from California back to their hometown of Hawkins, Indiana. But if you were hoping to see actor Eduardo Franco reprise the role of Argyle in Stranger Things season 5, which will be the final season of the show… well, it sounds like you’re in for disappointment. During an interview on the Steve Varley YouTube channel, Franco said it doesn’t look like he’ll be back for the new season.
Varley told Franco that fans got concerned when they saw he was absent from the cast picture Netflix released to celebrate the start of production on Stranger Things season 5, saying, “(Fans are) they’re thinking you’re not in the season. Can you give us hopes that you are?...

After an eight month delay that was caused by the writers strike, the actors strike, and the holiday break, Stranger Things season 5 – which is the last season of the hit Netflix series – has finally gone into production. A couple days ago, Netflix celebrated the start of production by sharing a behind-the-scenes picture of the cast hanging out with series creators the Duffer Brothers, and now they have gone a step further by sharing a picture of Maya Hawke and Joe Keery on set, back in character as Robin Buckley and Steve Harrington! The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. A couple months into that strike, the Screen Actors Guild also went on strike – and while the writers strike ended in September, the actors strike continued on into November. Following the six month delay, Netflix decided to wait out the holidays before getting Stranger Things season 5 rolling… but now they have officially confirmed that production is finally underway! They celebrated the start of production by unveiling of a behind-the-scenes image of the cast with series creators The Duffer Brothers, and you can check out that image at the bottom of this article.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, series creators The Duffer Brothers are preparing to head into production on Stranger Things season 5 at the start of January. But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.
Matt Duffer told The Guardian, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun,...

But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, production is gearing up, and Deadline hears that Stranger Things season 5 is finally going to go into production in January. Specifically, they hear that cameras will begin rolling on either January 5th or January 8th.
They note, “Cast members are believed to already be in Atlanta, where Stranger Things films, for prep work, with table reads also slated for the next couple of weeks.” They add that most of the writing had been completed before the writers strike hit, but “faced with the prospect of filming without writers on set, creators, executive producers and showrunners the Duffer Brothers opted to instead postpone production, which was then...

Last week, Stranger Things cast member David Harbour said he expected to start filming season 5 of the hit Netflix series – which will also be the final season of the show – in “a couple days”. But first he had to make an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, and during the show he confirmed that season 5 has “a very real ending” that wraps up the story.
Harbour said (with thanks to Deadline for sharing his comment), “The beauty of it is, there’s a real ending. Stranger Things will end in a very real way. … The storyline of Stranger Things, from where we started with the Upside Down and that lab, to where we’re going in season 5 is one complete story, and it’s gonna end at the final episode of season 5.” He acknowledged that there’s still room for spin-offs and prequel stories like the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow,...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. In fact, cast member David Harbour says it’s going to start filming in just a couple days!
Variety caught to Harbour at a BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America. When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, he said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?...

Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. It remains to be seen when filming is going to begin, but yesterday, November 6, 2023, was the 40th anniversary of the day Will Byers went missing in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of Stranger Things. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

A few months ago, it was announced that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5 – which also happens to be the final season of the hugely popular Netflix streaming series. That season was supposed to be deep into production by now, but has been delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes. The writers strike recently ended, now we just need the actors strike to come to an end so Stranger Things can get rolling. While waiting for his chance to report to the Stranger Things set, Trachtenberg has been doing the press rounds to promote the physical media release of his Predator movie Prey… and during a conversation with Collider, he talked about signing on to bring an episode of Stranger Things to the screen and working with the show’s creators The Duffer Brothers.

Season 5 of the Netflix series Stranger Things – which also happens to be the final season of the show – was supposed to be a couple months into filming at this point. But production was delayed by the writers strike, then the writers were joined on the picket lines by members of the Screen Actors Guild. So it’s going to be a little while before this season finally gets up and running. While we wait for the strikes to be resolved, Stranger Things creators Duffer Brothers have gone ahead and revealed that the character of Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, will be taking center stage in this last season.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and filming is set to begin very soon. While cast member Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, has said that he will be reporting to the set in May, he co-star David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, revealed during the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi (as reported by Collider) that he will begin working on Stranger Things season 5 in June. And he promised that we can expect to see a Hopper who has been “well-fed” this time around, as opposed to the much smaller version of the character we saw in season 4.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will soon be heading into production on its fifth and final season – so soon that David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts at the same time in Atlanta this year. And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.
Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.

The most popular moment in season 4 of the Netflix series Stranger Things came when the character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) played guitar along to the Metallica song “Master of Puppets” while facing off with the forces of evil in the Upside Down. Netflix's decision to save the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 until July 1 didn't go down well with fans.
The streaming service dropped a full-length trailer for the final two episodes on Tuesday, and it looks like we're in for another A+ conclusion for the 1980s-set drama.
The mission to save Hawkins is poised to be Eleven's biggest battle to date, and after learning how she and Vecna know each other on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, well, it's going to lead to some more heartbreak.
The trailer utilizes Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," once again to build the tension as all of these characters prepare to fight demons, both literal and physical.
One scene that sticks out from the trailer features Max caught by Vecna again, likely teasing a brutal beatdown between the pair.

Queue up your favorite song, because Season 4 of “Stranger Things” — and its new villain, Vecna — will be back on July 1. Netflix dropped the official trailer for Volume 2 of the massively popular horror sci-fi series, hinting at what’s to come in the final two supersized episodes of the show’s penultimate season.
Volume 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, right after it was revealed that Vecna is actually Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), a Hawkins boy from the ’50s who became the first test subject in the same government experiment as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) was still inside the Upside Down at the end of the season, but first-look images released by Netflix on June 14 revealed that she survives and makes it back to Hawkins — for now.

“Stranger Things 4” viewership has been so strong it’s spooky. The fourth season of Eleven & friends’ sci-fi exploits just broke the “Bridgerton” Season 2 record for most hours viewed within a show’s first 28 days and it only needed 17 days to do it. Through those two-and-a-half weeks, “Stranger Things” Season 4 amassed 781.04 million hours viewed, according to Netflix’s own internal tally. (“Stranger Things 4” added another 159.24 million hours this past week.)
Not only did “Stranger Things” Season 4 not require the full four weeks to shatter the previously-held English-language TV record, it also didn’t need its final two supersized episodes to do it. Those, which include the nearly two-and-a-half-hour season finale, drop July 1; the first seven episodes of the penultimate season landed on Netflix May 27.
Last week, “Stranger Things 4” ranked third all-time (with 621.80 million hours viewed) on Netflix’s Most Popular TV (English) list, behind Season 1 of Shonda Rhimes’ “Bridgerton” (625.49 million) and...

While it’s often a good strategy for both storytelling and corporate earnings purposes, splitting a season of television comes with some downsides. Chief among them is that a split season is fundamentally not a complete season.
Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 certainly came close to being a complete season of TV. The seven episodes presented were all quite lengthy, filled with compelling dispatches from both Hawkins, Indiana and The Upside Down. And yet, season 4 won’t be properly finished until we get those final two (and enormously long) episodes in our brains once they premiere July 1 on Netflix.
Until then, we’re left with all sorts of unanswered questions from Stranger Things season 4 volume 1. Some are weightier than others but questions they remain all the same. As we try to pass the time before volume 2, we hope you’ll join us in...

Note: This article contains major “Stranger Things” Season 4 spoilers.
Each new season of the Duffer Brothers’ “Stranger Things” comes with a new threatening creature or major antagonist. First came the Demogorgon in Season 1, then the Demodogs in Season 2 as well as the shadowy Mind Flayer pulling the strings. The Mind Flayer created an actual body for itself in Season 3 through a gruesome process, but that body collapsed when Joyce closed the gate in the Upside Down that the Russians were keeping open.
Season 4’s villain Vecna is as creepy as they come. He preys on people with emotional hardship and baggage, forming some kind of mental connection with them before killing them in a very graphic way. The first few episodes lightly show how Vecna operates, but it’s not until the end of Volume 1 that we learn more about exactly where he came from and why he acts how he does.

While "Stranger Things" viewers are loving Argyle (Eduardo Franco) and Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), another season four newcomer has been met with suspicion. In episode one, we meet Ms. Kelly, the Hawkins High School guidance counselor played by Regina Ting Chen. At first, she seems genuinely interested in helping Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) work through her trauma, but as the season progresses and other Hawkins students die, she becomes more and more suspect. In fact, some fans are convinced she's evil - like, working-with-Vecna levels of evil. And ya know what? We agree. Let's break down the theory, shall we?
For starters, Ms. Kelly always wears a gold necklace adorned with a clock pendant, and grandfather clocks are synonymous with getting killed by the villainous creature Vecna. Sure, it could be a mere coincidence, but the pendant is also shaped like a key, and observant fans think...

“Stranger Things” Season 4, Part 1 is lurking just around the corner.
The largest season yet, Season 4 of the Netflix series is also the most cinematic — with episode runtimes over 60 minutes (the finale itself will be more than two hours long). According to its creators, it leans into horror fare, as we see the main crew age out of middle school and embark on a sprawling quest that includes California, where homages galore include paying tribute to stoner classic “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “E.T.”
For Emmys eligibility, “Stranger Things” was split into two parts, with the first — comprising six episodes — releasing May 27. The latter half — featuring three episodes — will drop on the streamer July 1. Season 4 will pick up half a year following the events of Season 3, and will see its main characters struggling to adapt to high school as new threats emerge. Eleven has lost her powers at the end of Stranger Things’ third season and they don’t appear to have returned in the first trailer for the long-delayed fourth season of the Netflix supernatural drama series.
“War is coming,” warns the Mind Flayer in the trailer, which gives a glimpse into the chaos that Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers, Finn Wolfhard’s Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin Henderson and Caleb McLaughlin’s Lucas Sinclair as well as the rest of Hawkins, Indiana will face in the upcoming season.
Promising that “every ending has a beginning” – a nod to the recent news that season five will be the show’s final season, and showing the cast trying to be as normal as possible, their nemesis adds, “You’ve broken everything… you’re suffering is almost at an end”.

Along with revealing the premiere date for its much-delayed fourth season on Thursday, Netflix announced that “Stranger Things” — the sci-fi horror series that premiered in 2016, and became a phenomenon — has been renewed for a fifth and final season.
In a letter to fans that said “Stranger Things 4” would be split into two parts, with the first to debut May 27 and the second to launch July 1, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer also unveiled the big news that the show will conclude with “Stranger Things 5.”
“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for ‘Stranger Things,'” the showrunners, credited as the Duffer Brothers, said in a letter shared on Netflix’s blog. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale.

Netflix revealed Thursday the long-awaited fourth season of “Stranger Things” will be split into two parts — and you won’t have to wait long for them to debut.
“Stranger Things 4” Volume 1 will premiere May 27, with Volume 2 to follow on July 1, creators Matt and Ross Duffer, credited as the Duffer Brothers, said in a letter to fans posted on Netflix’s blog. That letter also included the huge news that the show has been renewed for a fifth and final season.
“With nine scripts, over 800 pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, ‘Stranger Things 4’ was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can’t wait to share it with you,” the Duffer Brothers wrote.

We still don't have a Stranger Things Season 4 premiere date, but we do have a shiny new teaser trailer.
Netflix on Saturday morning unveiled a new teaser trailer that reveals Eleven moved to California along with the Byerses.
It's been six months since the end of Stranger Things Season 3, and Eleven is struggling to fit in with her fellow classmates.
The good news is that she is still very much in contact with Mike and she's planning to have the best Spring Break ever.
The trailer also offers up some other exciting scenes, peeling away at a new mystery that will switch things up considerably.
Given that this teaser was set in California and even has "California" in the title, we're inclined to believe there will be other teaser trailers released today showing the characters in their new locations.
We already got a teaser of Hopper's new location well over a year ago now,...

Netflix debuted a “Stranger Things” Season 4 teaser in honor of “Stranger Things Day” — Nov. 6, the same day the sci-fi drama character Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) first went missing in Hawkins, Ind. in 1983. The new season will launch summer 2022.
In it, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will are living new lives in California, where Eleven seems to be having a hard time adjusting, although she doesn’t admit that when writing to Mike (Finn Wolfhard). Her letter serves as narration for the teaser, which you can watch below.
“I even like school now. I have made lots of friends,” she says, as she’s ignored by peers in the school hallway. “Even so, I am ready for spring break, mostly because I get to see you. We will have the best spring break ever.”

Hey, Stranger Things. It’s been a while — a long while, actually. More than two years after Netflix dropped Season 3 of the Duffer Brothers’ genre-bending sci-fi/horror smash, the streamer during Saturday’s Tudum global fan event released a new teaser for Season 4, which won’t debut until (collective groan) 2022.
As you’ll see in the clip above, it’s business as unusual for the beloved ’80s-set series, as viewers peek inside the ever-creepy Creel house. The long promotional campaign for “Stranger Things” Season 4 added a harrowing new wrinkle on Saturday with a first look at the “Creel House” — i.e. the home of new character Victor Creel, played by 1980s horror icon Robert Englund (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”). Creel has been imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital since his family was violently murdered in the 1950s, which Creel blamed on a vengeful demon.
Of course, no one believed him at the time, but since Creel is a character on “Stranger Things,” it’s seems safe to say the Upside Down has been haunting Hawkins far longer than anyone realized.
Englund, however, doesn’t appear in the preview; instead, it starts with a flashback of the Creel family moving into their gorgeous new home in the 1950s. But then lights begin to flicker mysteriously. The daughter finds a disemboweled bunny on their front lawn. And suddenly,...

Fans can check out the full teaser below.
A teaser for Season 4 was released in May, showing shaved-headed children in an institution. A voice, assumed to be Papa — Dr. Martin Brenner, who raised test subjects including Eleven, enters and says “Today, I have something very special planned for you,” as the camera pivots to a room marked “11.”
Producer Shawn Levy explained recently that he has spent the last couple of months shooting in Georgia, Lithuania and New Mexico, “So suffice to say Season 4 is sprawling,” he told Variety. “It’s visually and narratively very ambitious, much more ambitious than the prior three seasons.”

Netflix shared a new teaser for the fourth season of “Stranger Things” on Friday, revealing for the first time that the hit horror-sci-fi series will return in 2022.
The spot, set to air during the Olympics broadcast on NBC on Friday, featured some new footage from the upcoming episodes mixed in with clips from the first three seasons.
A cryptic Season 4 teaser previously dropped, but that video did not include actual glimpses of the new episodes like the one we have in this video — which marks the first footage from the show we’ve seen since “Stranger Things 3” debuted on July 4, 2019.

“To state the incredibly obvious, it’s been way, way, way, way too long, and it’s coming,” promises “Stranger Things” producer Shawn Levy of the highly anticipated Season 4.
Audiences last saw the residents of Hawkins in 2019 for the epic showdown against the Mind Flayer at the Starcourt Mall. The Season 3 finale closed with the beloved Jim Hopper (David Harbour) seemingly dead, the Byers family leaving town and the Russians’ facility destroyed…at least for now.
“Stranger Things” Season 4 is one of Netflix’s most anticipated titles, and after a delay in production due to the pandemic, Levy says he has spent the last couple of months shooting a large chunk of the season.
“I shot in Lithuania right before the pandemic. We have filmed in Georgia, Lithuania and New Mexico, so suffice to say Season 4 is sprawling,” he says. “It’s visually and narratively very ambitious, much more ambitious than the prior three seasons.

It's been a long wait without fresh episodes of Stranger Things, but the Netflix hit is adding some new cast members that confirm a return to a former location for the series.
The sci-fi drama has added Amybeth McNulty, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen, and Grace Van Dien in recurring parts for Stranger Things Season 4.
They join fellow new cast members Robert Englund, Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn, who were all announced to be joining the show shortly after production resumed.
McNulty (Anne With an E) joins as Vickie, a “cool, fast-talking nerd,” according to her character description.
She catches the eye of one of the core cast members, so that will be fun!
The actress has also appeared in Morgan and British series Agatha Raisin.
Truitt will play Patrick, a Hawkins basketball star who has talent, friends, and a good life until a big turn of events sends his life spiraling.
