When Chris Wallace’s talk show returns today on HBO Max, there won’t be many changes from its previous incarnation: Sitting on a spartan set with a black backdrop, he interviews celebrities, politicians, authors and other boldfaced names. He even sings, a bit, with Shania Twain.
The biggest change is that it is not on CNN+. Back in March, Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? was one of the ill-fated subscription streaming service’s signature shows, only to disappear when the venture was shut down by CNN’s new corporate parent Warner Bros. Discovery.

On Dec. 25, 2021, Cmdr. Richard Marcinko passed away peacefully at home. He was 81 years old. Marcinko had a storied career in the Navy. Most notably, he was the founder and godfather of the Navy’s most elite special operations unit, Seal Team Six.
His larger-than-life personality established many of the characteristics of the SEALs and today’s public perception of them as hardened warriors, quick-thinking problem solvers, and all-around heroes. He was, in some ways, a visionary. After his death, former SEALs who served under him, like Adm. William McRaven, praised...

President-elect Joe Biden, whose transition team is still being stonewalled by a Trump administration unwilling to relinquish its grip on power, was briefed today by a group of outside advisers on matters of national security. Among those experts were several Obama administration alumni, including former U.N. Ambassador Samatha Power, retired U.S. Navy Adm. William McRaven and, somewhat surprisingly, one Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

Nobody knows more about Isis than Donald Trump does. Or about hunting down enemies. Or preventing terrorist attacks — believe him. The 45th president lacks military experience but seems to believe he would have served his country better than any of the men and women who actually chose to do so. He also brings his now familiar lack of tact and diplomacy to military traditions, which typically call for a measure of stately decorum. Here are the most striking examples of when Trump absolutely did not support the troops.

President Trump loves to talk about how much he supports the military. “It is our sacred duty to support America’s Service Members every single day they wear the uniform — and every day after when they return home as Veterans,” he tweeted last Thursday. “Together we will Honor those who defend us, we will Cherish those who protect us, and we will celebrate the amazing heroes.”
But the words Trump’s staff writes for him to recite behind podiums don’t always jibe with the sentiments festering inside his head.

It’s hard to tell when an action taken by President Trump or the White House is intended to distract from unfavorable news coverage. But it was pretty clear when Trump revoked the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan last week. The announcement, coming at the height of former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman’s decidedly anti-Trump press tour, was dated July 26th, a sign the White House had been waiting for an opportune time to assume control of the news cycle. A senior White House official...
