The 24th James Bond movie, Spectre, releases in theaters on Nov. 6 and at first Sam Mendes was reluctant to return to direct following the highly successful Skyfall while at other times it was rumored he'd not only direct Bond 24, but Bond 25 as well. Those rumors proved untrue, but Mendes' original reluctance had to do with other commitments, which the producers worked around, allowing time for Mendes to return one more time, but it seems it may also be the last time. "I said no to the last one Spectre and then ended up doing it, and was pilloried by all my friends," Mendes told the BBC. "But I do think this is probably it...I don't think I could go down that road again. You do have to put everything else on hold." We've seen the effect these big films have had on filmmakers, most recently it seemed...

So apparently, Kanye West rushing the stage at the Grammys tonight wasn't a joke, after all. Beck's Morning Phase was named Album of the Year, a category in which the now 44-year-old veteran of the alt-rock scene topped the likes of Pharrell, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Beyoncé. And, to give everyone a dose of déjà vu, Yeezy went up to the stage, making everyone (including Jay Z and Bey) freak out about whether he was going to pull a "Kanye" again. He didn't, and everyone laughed it off. But when the rapper stopped by the E! After Party, he definitely didn't hold back and made it very clear that his little antic tonight was not just for fun, and said that Beck should have given...

One of the most surprising aspects about Guardians of the Galaxy has been the success of its soundtrack album, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1." The collection of 1970.s rock hits and Am radio guilty pleasures made waves last summer when it managed to top the Billboard 200 album charts. Well, it seems that momentum never did stop. Now, the tone-setting killer playset can add another mind-blowing accolade to its list of accomplishments: Over a million units shipped! Guardians writer/director, James Gunn, hard at work on the upcoming sequel, announced the good news on Facebook, adding: We are one of only four albums from 2014 to do so (Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Pentatonix, and us.). Congratulations and a big Thank You to all the bands and musicians involved. Your music has crossed decades to pierce the hearts of people all over the world." While not containing any original music, the soundtrack proved itself integral...

In the final week of 2014, Taylor Swift's latest album "1989" jumps past the "Frozen" soundtrack as the top seller of the year. While Disney's album featured the Oscar-winning tune "Let It Go" and had led all year long, Swift steals away the title in the end. She sold 3.66 million copies in just nine weeks on sale. "Frozen" sold 3.53 million during the calendar year. This is the second time for Swift to have the best-seller for a year after 2009's "Fearless" did the same. After those two albums, the next finishers were not even close: Sam Smith sold 1.21 million, followed by Pentatonix with 1.14 million. Those of us who care about movie posters often complain about “big head” posters from Hollywood studios, but the design for Lenny Abrahamson’s Frank is the ne plus ultra of big head posters: a poster for a film about a big head. The head in question is the papier-mâché noggin worn by Michael Fassbender’s title character, which was inspired by the nearly identical prop worn by Chris Sievey, a.k.a. Frank Sidebottom, the nasal-voiced troubadour from Timperley, Manchester, who famously covered the Sex Pistols (“Anarchy in Timperley”) and had his moment of cult fame in the 80s. The poster for Frank, designed by an as-yet uncredited designer at P+A studio (the anonymity seems apt) subverts the chief function of the big head poster by not showing us the film’s star. The entertainment business is usually a man's world, but there's at least one corner of the industry that women have ruled: the Grammy for Best Solo Pop Vocal. Created in 2011 to combine the previous Male Pop Vocal and Female Pop Vocal categories, the award has gone to a woman every year. In fact, men represent only six of the 20 total nominees since the award was established. Could newcomer Sam Smith be the first man to prevail? -Break- Grammy Awards nominations: Beyonce sets record, Sam Smith sweeps Smith is nominated for the first time in the category and has six nominations overall. He competes for the song "Stay with Me," which might have an advantage in the race since it's also nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, which indicates strong support from the recording academy; last year, Lorde's "Royals" won this award after also earning nominations in those two general-field races.

As a populace, we already know what we talked about too much in 2014: Taylor Swift's music industry takeover; Matthew McConaughey's ascent from beefy rom-com star to prestige actor; the nude-photo theft that launched a million thinkpieces about consent, privacy, sexism, and celebrity; Ben Affleck's junk. But for every overhyped idea, there's a corresponding underhyped one—a would-have-been national conversation that didn't materialize, an important work that deserved more appreciation, or a would-be breakout star like Sam Smith or Lupita Nyong'o who never quite managed to yank the spotlight away from the real Sam Smith or Lupita Nyong'o.

Ed Sheeran has ruled out singing the theme to new James Bond movie Spectre, claiming that "it would sound a bit wet".
Speaking to Digital Spy and others at the BBC Music Awards, the 'Thinking Out Loud' singer said that his style of singing isn't suited to the 007 film series.
"I am a James Bond fan, but I think the James Bond theme tune should be ballsy and I feel like if I was going to do it, it would sound a bit wet," said Sheeran.
The singer added that he was a better fit for The Hobbit, for which he contributed The Desolation of Smaug song 'I See Fire', and tipped Sam Smith for the Spectre theme.
"The Hobbit song was perfect for me to do because it's quite folksy and rootsy and guitar-driven and a hairy short man should be singing a song about that," he quipped.
"Whereas James Bond.

As one of the fastest rising stars in Edm at the moment, it was really just a matter of time before we got a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Mr. Oliver Heldens. Keeping in suit with his deep house/groovy style, the two hours of music delivers exactly what you’d expect.
From the producer’s own hits like “Gecko” and “Koala,” to some of the biggest songs of 2014 (“Light Years Away,” “A Sky Full Of Stars,” “Blame,” etc.) the mix is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. In fact, it could very well make a case for Best Essential Mix of 2014, as it definitely rivals some of the more impressive ones that we’ve heard from BBC Radio 1 this year. If nothing else, though, it’s a great way for the young DJ to cap off his truly incredible breakout year.

Social media reigns supreme! Or at least it does when it comes to the 2015 Grammy nomination announcements. All day long, a constant stream of contenders have been posted to the official Grammy Twitter account. More so than ever this year, the social media savvy singers and bands separated from the pack. Anyone can write a sincere “Thank you!!!1!” but a few went above and beyond. Whether hashtagging their hearts out, using emojis, or just a fun turn of phrase, these nominees showed off their personalities…which means they’ve already won the award for Social Media Navigation. It was a star-studded night! Celebs came out in droves to GQ's "Men of the Year" party at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood on Thursday. Chris Pratt -- who nabbed the cover of GQ's annual issue -- looked dapper as ever on the red carpet. Shailene Woodley was by far one of the sexiest dressed females of the night! The "Fault in Our Stars" actress stunned in her deep v-neck blazer and matching slacks. The 23-year-old finished her look with a bold lip and her hair slicked back. Woodley posed for pics with her equally hot costar, Ansel Elgort, at the party. The "Divergent" hottie looked handsome in his gray pinstriped suit, white button down and black tie. Nick Jonas likewise went for a...
