Australia’s Umbrella Entertainment has been on a hell of a roll lately. It was recently announced that they’ll be bringing the Stephen King classic Silver Bullet to Blu-ray. It wasn’t too long ago that they released one of the year’s best Blu-rays with the killer croc flick Dark Age. And now we’ve learned that they’re […]...

Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) returns to his hometown of Lumberton, North Carolina after his father suffers a stroke. While cutting through a vacant lot during a walk home from the hospital, he discovers a severed left ear in the grass. And so begins the mystery of David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet.”
Jeff Goodwin was the makeup supervisor on the 1986 neo-noir masterpiece, and he looks back on the creation of that iconic ear in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Blue Velvet” sent Beaumont into an underworld populated by a seductive lounge singer and a sadomasochistic pimp, but his troubles all started with that bloody, detached ear.
“David and I approached it like a character in the film,” Goodwin tells Entertainment Weekly. “We actually called it Mr. Ear.”

Image Source: Getty / Barry King / Jason Kempin Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song are reportedly dating, and our love of the former child stars just got stronger! On Sept. 29, the Home Alone star and his supposed Disney Channel darling were spotted at Instagram's Knott's Scary Farm celebrity night. The two were seen holding hands and being very "affectionate," according to an Entertainment Tonight source. There are even pictures of the two lovebirds holding onto each other while riding roller coasters like GhostRider and the Silver Bullet. Despite the fact that they were at an event all about horror and scaring, the new couple couldn't be more adorable and infatuated with each other. "Park-goers said they were very cute with each other, holding hands and very affectionate," the source told Et. "Looked like they were having a great time." When Entertainment Tonight caught up with Brenda at the event, the reporter asked...

It was probably only a matter of time: “The Munsters” is being rebooted by NBC, reports Deadline. “Odd Mom Out” creator Jill Kargman and Seth Meyers are leading the way, because why not, and their version shifts the 1960s TV series from the fictional town of Mockingbird Heights, California to Brooklyn.

NBC has been considering this for years: “I won’t say we won’t do another version of ‘The Munsters’ again,” said Bob Greenblatt after the network aired a one-off Halloween special in 2002. “We tried to make it an hour, which ultimately has more dramatic weight than a half-hour.” Bryan Singer directed the special, which starred Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi, Eddie Izzard, and Charity Wakefield.

With the upcoming release of The Dark Tower and It: Part 1 - The Loser’s Club, we look back at the successes and failures of previous Stephen King film adaptations.
Stephen King published his first novel in 1974. That novel, Carrie, would go on to sell more than a million copies in its first year of publication. The popularity of this book resulted in a movie adaptation two years later. As Stephen King released more novels, his popularity as an author grew, and many more films, miniseries, TV shows, and graphic novels came to be based on his writings. Today, King is one of the most well known and successful modern writers. Although he has written in many genres (including contributions to comic books), he is best known for his horror writings.
58 films have been released so far that have been based at least in some part on the writings of Stephen King.

Could the McConaissance be meeting the Kingaissance with The Dark Tower?
Not only is the film the first in what could be a series of big-screen adaptations based on fantasy writer Stephen King’s eight-book "The Dark Tower" series, which the author himself referred to as his magnum opus (or masterwork), it’s coming out just a month before another anticipated movie based on one of King’s favourites, It.
If both productions live up to expectations, it will be good news for King’s screen legacy, which has long been in need of an upgrade. The Dark Tower, luckily, co-stars the reigning master of Hollywood image rebuilding, Matthew McConaughey, as the piece’s main supernatural villain known as the Man in Black.

Music is a vital part of Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End. We take a look in more detail right here...
This feature contains major spoilers for Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.
Edgar Wright's films are often likened to musicals, with his precise use of editing and shot choices giving us some of the most stylish comedy films of the century. His latest, Baby Driver, isn't a comedy per se, but “a musical with car chases”, or “An American In Paris on wheels and crack smoke”, as an elated Guillermo del Toro described it on Twitter.
Centring around Ansel Elgort's Baby, a getaway driver who does his best work while listening to a personal soundtrack, it seems like the film Wright was born to make. He had the idea for the film after making his first feature,...

As British Prime Minister Theresa May struggles after losing the Conservative Party’s majority in last week’s election, John Oliver has thrown his support behind a rival candidate: Lord Bucket Head.

When Jordan Klepper signed on for a day embedded with a Georgia militia group, he was expecting to find answers to solving the problem of gun violence in America. What he got — at least at first — was a quick workout.
“It’s a fascinating experience to be a fly on the wall of a day of militia training. Something that we didn’t realize is that you forget how long a day it is. We arrived and did calisthenics for the first 30 minutes and it was just guys getting their heart rate going,” Klepper said in an interview with IndieWire.
It’s just one example of how Klepper and a team of writers uncovered some unexpected results over the six months that spent researching America’s complicated relationship to firearms. The result is “Jordan Klepper Solves Guns,” a one-hour special premiering Sunday night on Comedy Central.

FBI Director James Comey‘s appearance before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Capitol Hill was a real who’s who of Washington D.C., and the dramatic question and answer session had all the makings of a political thriller. While it remains to be seen whether the investigation into President Donald Trump‘s campaign ties to Russia will lead to a Watergate-like scandal, we’re already well on our way to casting the 2017 version of “All the President’s Men.”

As with many steps in the unfolding FBI saga, former bureau director James Comey’s Senate hearing Thursday had frequently been compared to a piece of scripted drama. After the public portion of the hearing had concluded, it lacked the definitive, certain amount of finality that some had hoped may magically appear.

Here at IndieWire, we love bloopers. Live TV is an unpredictable, glorious place where the best laid plans can be torn asunder in an instant.
And among the ranks of TV mistakes, late night ones are in a special echelon all by themselves. Last month, we ran down our comprehensive list of the best flubs from “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” But this wildly unexpected turn in a “Late Night with Seth Meyers” segment on “Wonder Woman” is right up there with some of the all-time greats.

Resurrecting a regular segment called “Point, Counterpoint,” featuring “Late Night” writers Ally Hord and Amber Ruffin in a “Crossfire” parody, the subject turned to Hollywood. Ruffin, who usually draws these segments away from the headlines of the day and into a stream of consciousness/word-association trip, made a reference to confetti cannons.

With the glut of Stephen King novels adapted into movies during the early-to-mid 1980s, it became all too easy for certain films to fall through the cracks. It was even easier, in fact, when so many of those movies were high-profile productions made by A-list directors like Stanley Kubrick, David Cronenberg, and John Carpenter. One can understand how a movie like Mark L. Lester’s Firestarter, an adaptation of King’s 1980 novel of the same name, wound up getting overlooked. I’m guilty of it myself, having seen the movie and promptly filed it with the other middle-of-the-pack Stephen King movies. Luckily, Scream Factory has a new Blu-ray that has me reconsidering my opinion and hopefully will allow other horror fans to rediscover a really cool film.

Throughout a career of playing diverse characters on screen, Dolph Lundgren has gone up against Rocky Balboa, an alien drug dealer, and an army of enemies, but in his latest film, Don't Kill It, Lundgren fights what is possibly his most dangerous opponent yet: a demon that thrives on death. With Don't Kill It now out in select theaters and on VOD, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Lundgren and director Mike Mendez about balancing vicious violence with blood-drenched humor, sequel possibilities, and much more.

You've got to admit it: Casting one of the kids from Stranger Things was a genius move by the makers of the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's It. The Netflix series was a love letter to 80s movies like Stand By Me, E.T., The Goonies, and Silver Bullet- with very distinct nods to King's ouevre throughout its first season.
It's a move that almost makes me overlook my grudge against this remake. What grudge, you ask? Well, I'm still burned by the fact that this was going to be an epic two-part movie that was written and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (True Detective Season 1, Beasts of No Nation). He was all set to bring his phenomenal skills to It before he had a falling out with Warner Bros. that led to his departure from the project.

The film: Horrific murders start taking place with mutilated bodies found across the small community of Tarker’s Mills, causing widespread panic. Sheriff Joe Haller (Terry O’Quinn) is out of his depth and, with Reverend Lester Lowe (Everett McGill), trying to stop the townsfolk forming a militia to go after whoever is doing the killings. In the middle of it all is wheelchair-bound Marty (Corey Haim) who starts to suspect there might be a real monster, perhaps a werewolf, who is committing the killings. Together with his Uncle Red (Gary Busey, in typical form), and his begrudging older sister, Jane (Megan Follows), they form a plan to try and stop the wolf.

“Stranger Things” is a new eight-episode Netflix original series starring Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, a mother living in Hawkins, Indiana whose son vanishes into thin air under very suspicious circumstances. The Matt and Ross Duffer-created thriller is considered “a love letter to the supernatural classics of the ’80s,” and critics are going wild for it.
“‘Stranger Things’ is nothing if not a surprising, sometimes scary, moving and successful homage to the era of Spielberg’s ‘Et’ and the 1980s themselves – as well as the films of the great John Carpenter,” says Deadline’s Dominic Patten in his video review. “Yes, there are a lot of clichés in ‘Stranger Things,’ but like outdoor string lights, they all hold together. They also cast a warm glow on the sheer enthusiasm and respect the series has for those who have come before and a very particular time in America’s recent...

The term “It Girl” first came widespread usage courtesy of Clara Bow, whose starring role in 1927’s “It” made the actress a worldwide star. Many have followed in her wake, and one way of determining Hollywood’s current It Girl will be seeing who’s tapped to play Bow in the just-announced biopic based on David Stenn’s biography “Clara Bow: Runnin’ Wild.” As first reported by Variety, Silver Bullet Entertainment has acquired the rights to Stenn’s book and is developing a film based on it.

25th Anniversary Five-Part Mini Series Event
In Pt 1 of our lookback at Thelma & Louise, a fateful night at the Silver Bullet threw Thelma & Louise off their course. In Pt 2 the best friends weren't so friendly as they struggled to find a new one. When we left them, they'd picked up a charming hitchhiker (Hellooo, Baby Brad) and but Louise needed a cup of coffee and to collect herself. Anne Marie & Margaret, our own superheroine duo in Los Angeles were grappling with the surprise killing of a would be rapist. Was it rage and pride that motivated Louise to shoot after she had already saved Thelma? It certainly provoked audiences but was there any other way to play the film's themes?

When you look back on your childhood through a rainbow haze of nostalgia and Kool-Aid binges, everything looks pretty darn spectacular. Life was simpler, Saturday morning cartoons were your heaviest commitment, Twizzlers were a lot cheaper, and every movie was super awesome.
How awesome were they, though, when you finally recover from your Kool-Aid hangover? Look, it's tough to rag on kids' movies -- no one wants to be the person to call out adorable anthropomorphic animals. It's not a good look. But we're here to do the hard jobs: To save our children from suffering through some horrible sequels. To save you from watching the same terrible movie 12 times per week with tiny, obsessive humans. To cut through the crap once and for all.

1985. Horror was going through a sea change on the film front, as slashers were shown the door and creature features became the cool kids on campus again. People lined up to see vampires (Fright Night) and werewolves (Silver Bullet) and zombies (Day of the Dead), oh my—but my favorite subgenre, the Mad Scientist, came roaring back to life with director Stuart Gordon’s (From Beyond, Dagon) manic masterpiece debut, Re-Animator.
Released in October, Re-Animator proved once again that when properly executed, horror and humor are delightful bedfellows, co-conspirators with the noblest of intentions: to entertain. Horror, while certainly not easy to do well (scroll through Netflix on any given day), has it made in the shade compared to comedy. Humor is more subjective, and what rubs me as funny may chafe you as stupid or insipid. Most people will agree that The Exorcist is terrifying, but not everyone likes...

Wolfcop, the highly entertaining new horror comedy from filmmaker Lowell Dean, has just slashed its way on to DVD – so I figured this was the perfect time to highlight some of the other great lycanthrope films out there. If you’re ready to bark at the moon, or just like finding opportunities to drop the word “lycanthropy” into casual conversation, then these films are guaranteed to please. Silver Bullet Corey Haim and Gary Busey headline this 1985 feature, which was based on a Stephen King novella titled Cycle of the Werewolf. The small town of Tarker’s Mills has a murderer walking amongst them in King’s tale, but the killer isn’t a man – it’s a vicious werewolf with a taste for people. Haim plays a paraplegic...

It appears that Adrian Garcia Bogliano’s English language debut got a longer title for it’s DVD/Blu-ray Release, now known as Late Phases: Night of the Lone Wolf. An interesting and sometimes successful throwback to a fine tradition of genre cinema, Bogliano owes a great deal of this to Nick Damici, an actor featured prominently in the films of Jim Mickle. Considering the budget, several of the special effects sequences are quite impressive. Premiering at South By Southwest in 2014, a November theatrical release saw a mixed critical reception.
After the surprising critical success of his 2012 title Here Comes the Devil, the Spanish director makes his English language debut with a somewhat droll werewolf exercise paying heavy homage to several notable genre titles from the 1980s. Entertaining but never as funny or thrilling as this concoction sometimes promises, for those familiar with Bogliano’s earlier titles (this marks his eleventh feature,...

Sledgehammer's adding 15 new Prestige levels to Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare, with purple armour unlocked on completion...
If you've played Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare to death already, but hankering for a new challenge within it, there's good news.
Developer Sledgehammer Games has announced that it's adding 15 new Prestige levels to its shooter sequel.
Completing each level will unlock a new Elite weapon (with names like Mors Silver Bullet and Imr Thunder Tusk), while completing all 15 prestiges will unlock some Grand Master Prestige Character Gear.
Essentially, it's purple, highly ornate, and looks like the kind of thing Liberace would have worn if he was really good at first-person shooters.
I mean, just look at it:
Grand Master Prestige is out this month. You can see high-resolution versions of all the levels and loot on offer at Sledgehammer's blog. Until then, here's a (very) quick tour of what's in store.

Silver Bullet (1985)
Directed By: Daniel Attias
Written By: Stephen King

“Silver Bullet”, based on a Stephen King novella “Cycle of the Werewolf”, is a worthy entry in the werewolf sub genre of horror. A good chunk of werewolf films are rather predictable in having the werewolves being the complete center of attention from start to finish but “Silver Bullet” takes the opposite route. The film has a lot of suspense building up to the eventual reveal, which I liked. I don’t know why I hadn’t watched this film before until now but I am glad I did.
The film takes place in a very small town that is just...
