Before Trevor Noah signs off for the last time on “The Daily Show,” he’s releasing a new comedy special on Netflix.
Titled “I Wish You Would,” the special will launch on the streamer on Nov. 22. It’s his third Netflix release, following 2017’s “Afraid of the Dark” and 2018’s “Son of Patricia.” Noah will share hilarious “revelations about learning to speak German, modern communication and his love for curry,” according to the logline.
“I Wish You Would” was filmed at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and is directed by David Paul Meyer. Noah is an executive producer alongside Bob Bain, Norm Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin of Day Zero Productions.
Last month, Noah shocked his “Daily Show” fans by announcing he’d be leaving the Comedy Central series after hosting for seven years. His last appearance will be Dec. 8, after which the show will go on hiatus until Jan.

“It’s been wild,” Trevor Noah told his audience after revealing that his “time is up” on hosting The Daily Show.
The news certainly was wildly unexpected.
Deadline understands that Noah told his studio audience of his departure before telling many members of the Comedy Central series’ staff — news that blindsided many.
The Daily Show sources said that it was “imperative” for Noah to share the news with his fans during Thursday’s taping as he wanted them to hear it from him first.
But the fact that Noah told a few hundred strangers, admittedly some die-hard fans but likely including many tourists keen to get a ticket to a show, before he told some members of his production team was hard to take for some.
Noah is thought to have quietly re-upped his deal earlier this year, and he and his team were recently celebrating scoring seven Emmy nominations...

“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is no stranger to unpacking big political and cultural stories with his nightly monologue and news satire program. It’s no easy task finding the funny in the dumpster fire of news. So it makes sense that Noah’s next projects won’t suffer from a lack of ambition.
Time Studios, Noah’s Day Zero Productions, Sugar23 and P&g Studios are teaming up on “The Tipping Point,” a documentary series that will tackle the big issues of the era, from voting rights to civil rights, human rights to healthcare, American Democracy to the global refugee crisis. “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is developing and may star in a remake of “The President’s Analyst,” the 1967 political satire that starred James Coburn as the Oval Office’s resident psychiatrist. Paramount Pictures will back the film.
Noah will have a critical helping hand when it comes to navigating White House life. Pat Cunnane, who was President Barack Obama’s senior writer and deputy director of messaging, wrote the screenplay for the film. The original became a cult classic thanks to its trippy elements that veered on camp (there’s an animated explanation of microelectronics that has to be seen to be believed). It followed a psychoanalyst who is given a top-secret assignment to help an increasingly paranoid and overly stressed U.S. president. It’s unclear what Cunnane has planned and Paramount isn’t releasing a logline other than to say the story will be told “through the...

Comedian and “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is teaming up with Paramount to develop a remake of 1967’s “The President’s Analyst” as a potential star vehicle for Noah, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
Pat Cunnane, who served as President Barack Obama’s Senior Writer and Deputy Director of Messaging at the White House, wrote the script, described as a re-examination of the 1967 satire through the lens of the contemporary political landscape.
James Coburn starred in the original film as psychiatrist Sidney Schaefer, who is recruited by the U.S. government to serve as the president’s own top-secret psychoanalyst. On call at all hours and privy to the leader’s most private thoughts, Schaefer develops paranoia, which turns out to be warranted, since numerous international agencies really are out to get him for his access to highly classified information.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures, which has been gearing up production under new studio chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos after being left with pretty much a barren cupboard from the previous regime of the late Brad Grey and Rob Moore, has several projects in development with female directors. They have only one in production, but the town understands this is an inherited situation that new management is now working to turn around.
We’re told one of the mandates from Gianopulos is to hire more female directors onto projects, evidenced by its development slate both at Paramount and in its Paramount Players division.
