Julie Massicotte
- Actress
-Julie Massicotte has been fascinated by singing from an early age. It was at the Cégep de Jonquière (in the province of Quebec, Canada) that she really took off. As a student in the Media Arts and Technology program, she took part in Cégeps en spectacle, winning the national final in 1991. A few weeks later, her presence was noticed at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in the interpreter category, where she came second. That evening, Guy Latraverse was in the audience and spotted her immense talent.
The famous impresario then invited her to take part in the show La fête à Claude Dubois, at the Théâtre Saint-Denis in November 1991, in the company of Richard Séguin, Martine St-Clair, Kashtin and Véronique Sanson. The Trois-Rivières-born singer saw this as an opportunity to try her luck, and moved to the metropolis. At the age of 19, Julie performed her first show at the legendary Spectrum. She also lent her voice to commercials for well-known brands.
She will be seen and heard on the small screen in popular variety shows, such as "Beau et chaud", "Sonia Benezra", "Les trois mousquetaires", "Le plaisir croît avec l'usage", "Le cabaret des refrains d'abord", etc. These appearances will allow audiences to finally put a face to this exceptional voice.
Julie Massicotte's career has been punctuated by great artistic encounters. In 2002, she realized a great artistic dream when she shared the stage with her childhood idol, Ginette Reno, at the Queen of England's Jubilee Gala in Toronto. She has also had the great pleasure of singing with some of French-speaking France's greatest performers, including Maurane, Francis Cabrel, Patrick Bruel, Hélène Segara, Robert Charlebois and Diane Dufresne.
Over the course of her career, her voice has been heard in a variety of productions, most notably in 2011 alongside our great Quebec tenor Marc Hervieux, who invited her to accompany him on his "Après nous" tour. The tour ended on a high note at the Bell Centre, after more than 90 performances across the province. In 2013, it was on the TV show "La Voix" that the general public had the privilege of measuring the extent of her talent. She charmed the whole of Quebec, reaching the semi-final alongside Jean-Pierre Ferland.
