Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni is speaking out after being hit with an approximately $1 million fine amid allegations that she misled her followers over a charitable donation.
The Italian Competition Authority conducted an investigation of a 2022 partnership with Balocco, an Italian pastry brand. The collaboration resulted in a branded cake bearing her image, which was supposed to raise proceeds for Regina Margherita Hospital.
The cakes were sold at a higher price than the brand’s similar products; however, most of the proceeds do not appear to have made it to the hospital.
The investigation concluded that the higher price was “misleading” as it implied that the difference would be donated to charity, via Business Insider.
After the report’s findings were revealed, she responded on social media.

As global consumers turn towards series produced in their own countries and other non-us content, developing authentic stories for local markets might be the key to global success, pointed out participants of the Berlinale Series Market opening on Monday.
“Great successes can come from anywhere. That’s the biggest learning,” said Jens Richter, CEO at Fremantle Media International, calling South Korean surprise smash “Squid Game” – repeatedly mentioned throughout the event – another “steppingstone towards creating more openness,” – also when it comes to the European market.
As pointed out by executive director at Ampere Analysis Guy Bisson, kicking off the “Mission: Europe. How Local Markets Muscle Up” panel, co-hosted by Film und Medien Stiftung Nrw, “Europe is playing the quality game.” With new markets emerging as production powerhouses, including Russia, Ukraine, Poland, certain Benelux countries and Scandinavia, he also noticed some clear patterns emerging such as period-set local stories, adapted from existing,...

The Blonde Salad founder had been excitedly awaiting Vittoria's arrival, writing on March 22, "She's not born yet?" But less than 24 hours later, her daughter made her debut. It looks like Vittoria and her big brother, Leo, are going to be close in age, too....

Amazon’s fashion design competition “Making the Cut” has enlisted designer Jeremy Scott and “America’s Next Top Model” alum Winnie Harlow as judges for Season 2, the streamer announced Tuesday.
The duo will join hosts Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum on the season as permanent judges, replacing the judging panel of Season 1, which featured the likes of Naomi Campbell, Nicole Richie, fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni, former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld and designer Joseph Altuzarra.
In another change from last season, the new set of episodes were filmed entirely in Los Angeles under Covid-19 safety protocols, rather than showcasing an around-the-world tour of international fashion hubs.
“I am so excited to be in my hometown of Los Angeles with such a talented group of designers and judges for season two,” Klum said in a statement. “This last year brought so many unforeseen challenges across the globe, so I feel grateful that...

Shooting is underway in Rome on romancer “Time Is Up,” pairing Bella Thorne with Italian popstar Benjamin Mascolo and being directed by Italy’s Elisa Amoruso (“Chiara Ferragni – Unposted”).
The English-language teen pic turns on two high-school seniors, Vivien (Thorne), who is an accomplished student with a passion for physics, and Roy (Mascolo), a troubled young man. This makes “for two starkly different personalities,” according to promotional materials.
Cameras started rolling last week on “Time Is Up,” which is being produced by Italy’s Marco Belardi via his Lotus Production, a Leone Film Group company, with pubcaster Rai’s Rai Cinema on board. A six-week shoot is planned in Rome and also in an unspecified U.S. location.
Besides Thorne and Mascolo, who is making his acting debut, the “Time Is Up” cast also comprises Emmy-winning U.S. actor Nikolay Moss (“The Cobblestone Corridor”), Roberto Davide and Sebastiano Pigazzi (“We Are Who We Are”).

And streaming on the global retailer also gave the show the opportunity to sell each week’s winning looks worldwide after episodes debuted. So this show wasn’t just about the art of design, it was also about the business of retail.

It all came down to this. Three designers went into the “Making the Cut” finale episode, “The Winner: The Next Global Brand,” but only one could win the $1 million grand prize and a mentorship from Amazon Fashion. So did Sander Bos, Jonny Cota or Esther Perbandt prevail after the judges made their decisions about their pop-up shops, their business plans and their final collections. Read on for our minute-by-minute recap of what happened and perhaps what should have happened when all was said and done.

In early March, one day before cameras were set to roll in Milan on upcoming Netflix Italian original “Zero,” about the lives of black Italian youths, producer Nicola De Angelis and the streaming giant decided to halt production on the show due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Italy was not yet on lockdown, but De Angelis and Netflix Director of International Originals Felipe Tewes agreed that going ahead would have been complicated “and posed a serious health threat to the cast and crew,” whom, De Angelis points out, Netflix is now trying to support economically during the interlude until shooting restarts.
“Zero” actors, several of whom are non-professionals, are meanwhile being coached remotely, as scripts get polished in hopes that shooting can take place sometime this summer.
Italy is the hardest hit country in Europe, with 25,549 deaths to date, and 189,973 confirmed cases. Its death toll is second only to the U.

Naomi Campbell does not tolerate irreverence for high fashion.
“With couture, there’s a certain respect you have to have,” she says sternly to a nervous designer on the chopping block. “I mean, it goes back centuries. I feel like you disrespected the whole entire word and this assignment because we can all pin a wrap.”
Prior to joining the judging panel of “Making the Cut” — Amazon Studios’ new unscripted fashion design competition series, hosted by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn — Campbell had thought she was done with reality TV. But the supermodel and philanthropist was drawn back in by a comrade from her ‘90s modeling days.

The Berlinale in recent years has been a prime launching pad for Italian films directed by women, which though fewer in number to their male counterparts, make up a considerable portion of the country’s representation on the festival circuit — Alice Rohrwacher (“Happy as Lazzaro”) at Cannes, Susanna Nicchiarelli (“Nico”) at Venice, and Berlin regular Laura Bispuri (“Daughter of Mine”) are all festival faves.

Amazon is exploring the world of fashion bloggers with its latest Italian original, Chiara Ferragni – Unposted.
The Svod service has picked up a feature-length documentary about Ferragni, who is set to star in Amazon Prime Video’s fashion reality series Making The Cut alongside Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. The documentary launched at the Venice International Film Festival earlier this year.
Chiara Ferragni – Unposted, which will launch on November 29, is directed by Elisa Amoruso (Bellissime) and will follow Ferragni, who appeared as a guest judge on season 13 of Klum and Gunn’s former show Project Runway. She made her name in New York with her blog The Blonde Salad before going on to model for Guess and a shoe collaboration with Steve Madden.
