Peacock has canceled the two YA series, ending One Of Us Is Lying after its second season and Vampire Academy after its first. Peacock is reworking its slate, and it's bad news for fans of YA dramas Vampire Academy and One of Us Is Lying.
Deadline reported Friday night that both series had been canceled after their most recent runs on the streaming service.
Vampire Academy came from Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and was expected to be a big hit for the service, but Deadline notes that the numbers didn't justify a second season.
"St. Vladmir's Academy isn't just any boarding school — it's a hidden place where vampire royals are educated and half-human teens train to protect them from the savage 'Strigoi' vampires who would like to see them destroyed," reads the logline for the series.
Vampire Academy stars Daniela Nieves (Snowfall) as Royal Moroi vampire Lissa Dragomir, Sisi Stringer (Mortal Kombat) as Rose's Dhampir Guardian Rose Hathaway, and Kieron Moore (Sex Education) Dhampir Guardian Dimitri Belikov.

One of Us Is Lying Season 2 is a significant step up from its predecessor.
Armed with a compelling mystery, excellent characters, and just enough darkness, it is one of the year's best shows.
TV Fanatic got the chance to chat with showrunner Erica Saleh and cast members Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Cooper Van Grootel (Nate), and Jessica McLeod (Janae).
Saleh teases that One of Us Is Lying Season 2 picks up in the immediate aftermath of the message from Simon Says.
The teenagers vowing to go their separate ways after Jake's (Barrett Carnahan) death is now impossible because they've been forced back together to find out who is texting them.
e
The showrunner cautions that they also need to find out how much this person knows, but through all of that, the teenagers have to asses just how much they trust each other.

Telling another mystery after the original is dead and buried is tough.
Many mystery series struggle to follow up that first big hook, but One of Us Is Lying Season 2 manages to elevate the mystery and the stakes to leave viewers with a sense of dread.
TV Fanatic got the chance to screen the entire season ahead of launch, and you'll be glad to know that the series takes things in a drastically different direction.
That's not to say there were any significant flaws with the first season. It's just that taking things in a different direction as opposed to reinventing what made the first season successful is a sign that the creatives are confident in their storytelling.
We pick back up with Addy (Annalisa Cochrane), Cooper (Chibuikem Uche), Bronwyn (Marianly Tejada), Nate (Cooper van Grootel), and Janae (Jessica McLeod) in the immediate aftermath of that text.

The identity of snarky gossiper Simon Kelleher’s killer in season one was identified at the conclusion of Peacock’s One of Us is Lying season one. And, mini-spoiler alert, the gang took care of that problem (Rip Jake) but wound up creating a new one. Which, of course, leads us to season two.
The two-minute season two trailer reveals the Murder Club members will be tormented by “Simon Says” and forced into doing his/her bidding or else their involvement in Jake’s “disappearance” will be exposed. The trailer suggests the club should keep their friends close, but their secrets even closer.
Season two is set to premiere on October 20, 2022, however, New York Comic Con attendees were treated to a preview of the first episode along with a Q&a with the show’s stars. One of Us Is Lying is one of the best teen dramas in recent memory.
It had a carefully constructed mystery, excellent character development, and one of the most satisfying finales in years.

We are about to delve into spoiler territory, so head over to Peacock if you haven't watched the entire series. It's eight episodes of pure fun! The best part about it is that it is best served binged.

Elite-turned-One of Us Is Lying showrunner Darío Madrona knows a thing or two about fictional teens and murder mysteries. But don’t mistake the high schoolers in the new Peacock drama (now streaming its first three episodes) for the glam partiers in the Netflix soap.
In fact, if the kids of Elite could give the One of Us Is Lying characters some advice, “they would probably tell them to enjoy themselves more and get out a little bit, maybe do some drugs and hook up with each other,” Madrona jokes with a laugh.

Alimi Ballard has been tapped for a heavily recurring role opposite Chibuikem Uche on YA mystery drama One Of Us Is Lying, Peacock’s series adaptation of Karen M. McManus’ novel.
Written by Erica Saleh and based on McManus’ novel, One Of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention and only four make it out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
Ballard will play Kevin Clay. An ex-athlete, he’s Cooper’s (Uche) intense but loving father/coach, who just wants for his son to become a baseball star and have a (much) better life than he ever did.
Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, Uche, Jessica McLeod, Barrett Carnahan and Melissa Collazo lead the ensemble cast.
Ballard was last seen as Marcel Dumas on USA Network’s Queen of the South and as Dr.

One of Us Is Lying finally has a premiere date.
The highly-anticipated teen drama launches Thursday, October 7, on Peacock.
The 8-episode season will roll out over the course of three weeks, with new episodes dropping in batches on Thursdays.
As a result, the rollout plan is as follows:
Episodes 1-3 will drop Thursday, October 7
Episodes 4-6 on Thursday, October 14
Episodes 7-8 on Thursday, October 21
It's a different way to do things, and HBO Max successfully shared some of its shows that way.

Remember Vitamin C’s “Graduation (Friends Forever)”? Well, the One of Us Is Lying trailer uses quite the haunting version of it, and we have a feeling the four high schoolers at the center of it probably won’t be “friends forever.” Peacock’s new mystery series premieres on Thursday, October 7 with the first three episodes. The next three will drop on October 14 and the last two on October 21. Based on Karen M. McManus’s best-selling novel, One of Us Is Lying tells the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention and only four make it out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide. The series stars Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Cooper van Grootel (Nate), Barrett Carnahan (Jake), Mark McKenna (Simon), Melissa Collazo (Maeve), and Jessica McLeod (Janae). One of Us Is Lying is poised to be the next hit teen drama.
Based on Karen M. McManus’s New York Times best-selling novel, the series is the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention, and only four make it out alive.
Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
It's a convincing hook, right?
It sounds like The Breakfast Club meets Elite, and the new teaser seems to back that up.
And, if you're tired of waiting week-to-week for answers, you'll be happy to know that Peacock releases all episodes at once.
That means you can get your binge on and dig into one of the most promising shows of the year when it launches.
The streamer is not revealing when the show will launch, beyond a "coming soon," but it should be within the next few months.

This article contains Cobra Kai season 3 spoilers.
Cobra Kai season 3 brought back several beloved characters from the original Karate Kid movies including Daniel’s first two loves, Ali (Elisabeth Shue) and Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), Daniel’s second major nemesis Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and many more. In the process, however, season 3 also left some Cobra Kai characters on the sidelines. Fans sorely missed Aisha Robinson (Nichole Brown) and Raymond a.k.a. ‘Stingray’ (Paul Walter Hauser). Aisha has been part of the series since the beginning. She was the first female student of Johnny’s (William Zabka) Cobra Kai Dojo. Stingray first appeared in season 2 and has been the oldest Cobra Kai student so far.
Aisha is dismissed within the season 3 premiere episode ‘Aftermath.’ There’s a curt explanation that her parents moved her to private school after the catastrophic fight at the end of season 2. That seems appropriate. Given the damage to the student body,...

"Is there something you want to confess?" Rlje Films has debuted a full trailer for an indie psychological thriller titled Confessional, made by filmmaker Brad T. Gottfred (Orgies and the Meaning of Life). This originally premiered at the Chattanooga Film Festival last year, and is already streaming on Shudder if you want to catch it now. After two seemingly unconnected deaths at a college on the same night, seven students receive invitations to a confessional booth hidden on campus. Uh oh... Their confessions slowly unveil the truth behind the deaths and the mysterious person who brought all of them to the booth. Confessional stars Marcus Scribner, Vanessa Marano, Lucas Adams, Jess Gabor, Brandon Larracuente, Jake Short, Annalisa Cochrane, Paris Berelc, and Mia Xitali. This is a cool concept, but it's not easy to pull this off as a film. From the looks of it, this will certainly by suspenseful. I...

When Blumhouse TV approached Hannah Macpherson with the notion of a horror film set in the subculture of purity balls the young filmmaker was more intrigued than informed. “First of all, I had to Google what that was,” the New Mexico native admits. “And then I went down the rabbit hole.”
That rabbit hole led Macpherson into the world of the prom-like purity events where daughters vow to save their virginity for their future husbands and a marriage that’s often arranged by their fathers. For Macpherson, the exploration was instantly inspiring on a creative level but routinely infuriating on a cultural and social level. The result is Pure, the new horror film with themes of gruesome group-think (think of a high school Handmaid’s Tale or a church-camp redux of Midsommar) as well as supernatural menace (Carrie would have been an ideal peer counselor).
