Exclusive: Aria Studios, a new two-stage £1.6M (2M) facility that boasts 20,000 sqft of filming space, has officially opened for business in Anglesey, North Wales.
The facility, located near the popular Welsh region of Eryri, has been established by indie production company Rondo Media and Welsh broadcaster S4C’s commercial arm S4C Digital Media Limited, with the support of the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.
The studio has two fully-soundproofed stages and is located amongst acres of unspoiled grounds in the Eryri region.
Rondo Media is currently filming the drama series Rownd a Rownd for S4C for 27 weeks in stage 2 at Aria. The studio has said they expect further bookings from drama and film producers commissioned by S4C. However, the studio has said its principal target clients are high-end film and television productions from the UK and the US.

Plans expected to come in from Monday, November 15.
Plans for the introduction of Covid passes from next month for cinemas in Wales have been described as “potentially hugely damaging” by Phil Clapp, CEO of the UK Cinema Association.
Mark Drakeford, First Minister for Wales, has today announced the intended extension of the country’s Covid pass to cinemas, as well as theatres and concert halls, from November 15.
“For cinemas to be singled out for this new measure seems not only illogical but also potentially hugely damaging,” said Clapp.

Wales has said film and TV shoots will be allowed to continue despite the nation going into a temporary lockdown to arrest a rise in coronavirus cases.
The Welsh government clarified its position on production to Deadline after announcing that it will be introducing a Covid “fire-break” from 6Pm on October 23. The temporary restrictions will lift on November 9.
Welsh citizens have been told to stay at home except for “very limited purposes, such as for exercise.” They have also been told to “work from home wherever possible.”
“This is the moment to come together; to play our part in a common endeavour to protect the NHS and save lives. This will not be easy, but we will do it together,” said first minister Mark Drakeford.

Wales will go into a two-week lockdown, described by the local government as a “firebreak” circuit breaker, from Oct. 23 to Nov. 9.
Members of the public will be told to stay at home and leisure businesses will be shut. Pubs and restaurants will be closed, as will non-essential shops. It’s believed that cinemas will also close under the guidance, although this isn’t yet confirmed.
Primary schools will reopen after the half-term break. Secondary schools will see only years seven and eight return to classrooms, while universities will continue offering a hybrid model that combines online and physical classes.
Meanwhile, both indoor and outdoor gatherings of people who aren’t from the same household will be banned.
Apart from critical workers, jobs where working from home is not possible are allowed to be carried out. As such, Variety understands that film and TV production can continue unless authorities specifically restrict the sector’s activities.
