Kamau Leigh
Kamau became interested in law enforcement at a young age while growing up in southern Ohio. He trained extensively in a Boy Scout police explorer program before he was even old enough to apply to a law enforcement career. Originally, interested in the Ohio State Highway Patrol, he was unable to make the minimum weight requirements (for his height) and soon turned to applying in other state's highway patrol programs. He soon found himself moving to Florida to work for the Florida Highway Patrol where he worked a number of years before deciding to move to Alaska to work with the Alaska State Highway Patrol. Kamau credits his interest in law enforcement to his original trainer, Officer Stewart, who spent a number of years extensively training him on proper and safe policing tactics.
