Factor Eight (Andrew Bennett, he/him) is an award-winning composer and experimental artist making waves with 2021 awards for Visual Media Composer of the Year and Experimental / Contemporary Artist of the Year, sync placements with companies that include Disney+, and his enthralling new album 'II'.
Through mind-bending sound design and composition, Factor Eight draws audiences to emotionally connect with his long-awaited concept album 'II'. With this raw and honest album, Andrew is revealing his story with Bipolar Disorder in an effort to end the stigma around mental illness. As a sonic parallel to the personal nature of this record, a selection of works titled "A Voice" were created using only his voice.
"Through my first-hand experience with mental illness and with a platform to express themes and ideas through art, I feel a responsibility to use my music in service to this cause. I hope this project will inspire a feeling of connection in those who struggle, and sense of compassion in those who struggle to relate." -Andrew
Factor Eight has received many awards and nominations including a SOCAN Foundation award in 2018. He has now received 5 Western Canadian Music Award nominations. In 2021, he won Visual Media Composer of the Year, and was nominated for Instrumental Artist of the Year. At the Saskatchewan Music Awards, he was nominated for Producer of the Year and won 2021 Experimental / Contemporary Artist of the Year Winner for his experimental album project 'A DØ' (meaning "For Two"). 'A DØ' was deleted suddenly from all streaming platforms and released as a disintegrating album-film on NothingLastsForever.ca -- setting the stage for the more personal and musically evolved record ('II') that would literally take its place.
Through music & sound for visual media he has worked with brands that include The United Way, FOX Broadcasting Company's So You Think You Can Dance, GMC, Head Ski, Salomon, X-Games, Jaybird, Whistler Blackcomb, and Gillette. Factor Eight's latest music is set to be used in an upcoming series on Disney+, among other opportunities to be announced!
