In the wake of TV producer Bill Geddie’s death, “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg has opened up about what has kept her on the daytime talk show for the past 16 years.
During the ABC series’ tribute to its late executive producer, Goldberg revealed that she first met Barbara Walters and her longtime producer once when the two were driving through Malibu for the series, “Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People.” Soon after, Goldberg, Walters and Geddie became friends. It’s through that friendship that the co-creators of “The View” first offered Goldberg her current hosting gig.
“I said, ‘Yeah, I need a job.’ You know? It’s nice when people offer you work. I was like, ‘Yes I’ll come.’ And here I be,” Goldberg said. “I remain out of respect to the show, and out of respect to the two of them who gave me a shot when no one else would.

A young man has to deal with the loss of his abusive father while stuck in his dead end job and trying to remain sober. He has help from his AA sponsor and his best friend but when a new guy enters his life full of promises and seemingly good advice, he can’t help in becoming a little infatuated. And this infatuation leads to some unwanted situations in this psychological thriller.
The Way Out comes from Terror Films, a company I generally enjoy but my general expectations are that their movies will be low-budget, sometimes amateur, horror movies that I will mostly have fun with. So The Way Out stuck out like a sore thumb immediately by just looking good and having clearly experienced actors in the lead roles. The performances are strong from...

“There’s just certain things you don’t talk about,” said Sherri Shepherd on her syndicated talker today. She then indicated those verboten topics are “politics, religion and Rihanna vs. Beyoncé.”
Comments by ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith to Shepherd on that last subject yesterday ignited a firestorm of protest from not just the Sherri studio audience, but also from Rihanna’s fan base.
Here’s part of what the First Take star said. For context, Smith was asked for his thoughts about Rhianna’s upcoming Super Bowl Halftime performance.
I don’t want to say I’m not excited. She’s fantastic. That’s not where I’m going with this. She’s a lot of things. She’s spectacular. And congratulations on new mama hood. There’s one thing she’s not: She ain’t Beyoncé. [Audience boos] The only reason I brought up Beyoncé is because Beyoncé recently performed at the Super Bowl.

Clearing the air. Rosie O’Donnell is opening up about the real reason she wasn’t in attendance at “The View”‘s emotional tribute to Barbara Walters on Tuesday.
While O’Donnell’s reps previously told some outlets that her absence was due to a scheduling conflict, O’Donnell took to Instagram to explain that there was also a more personal reason she wasn’t able to be there.
“They invited me but I wasn’t able to make it,” O’Donnell said in a video she shared Tuesday evening. “And I didn’t want to be in a big group of people.”
“I don’t know, I was worried I would get upset and I didn’t want to do that. So, there you go,” she added.

The Wendy Williams Show guest host Sherri Shepard was forced to miss her current hosting duties following emergency surgery. The comedian, who was set to fill in this week for the titular daytime host amid her temporary hiatus, was notably absent from the show's Dec. 13 episode. Fellow comedian Michael Rapaport announced the news at the top of the show's airing and served as the host for the day. "Sherri was supposed to host today," Michael explained to the audience in a video shared to the show's Instagram account. There have been several documentaries, both large and small, focused on the history of women in stand-up comedy. The short take is that, much like every industry in the world, being a woman in a man’s world sucked. But Andrea Blaugrund Nevins’ upcoming FX documentary, “Hysterical,” does something different.
It really leans into that fact, not just by reminding us that yes, women had a hard time breaking into the industry, but also how often men — even friends of the female comics themselves — didn’t really see anything wrong with it. Nevins’ documentary is a fierce, frustrating, and utterly amazing look at the strength of these women comics, and how they weaponized their trauma to make us (and themselves) laugh through their tears.
Kicking things off with Billie Eilish’s “Therefore I Am” over the opening credits, “Hysterical” shows pictures of the comic subjects as little girls, introducing the...
