Fargo creator Noah Hawley is making an Alien TV series for “FX on Hulu”, and the show started filming in Bangkok, Thailand last year – but then, after a month, production had to be paused to wait out the Screen Actors Guild strike. That strike is now over, and Alien is expected to resume filming any day now. As production revs back up, Deadline has learned that Moe Bar-El, whose previous credits include The Peripheral, Better, Femme, and Count Abdulla, has been cast in a recurring role. They just weren’t able to dig up any details on the role he’ll be playing.
Bar-El joins previously announced cast members Sydney Chandler (Pistol) as the meta-human Wendy, who has the body of an adult, but the brain and consciousness of a child; Essie Davis (The Babadook) as Dame Silvia, Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World) as a soldier named Cj,...

Actor Timothy Olyphant experienced a career highlight after being cast in Justified. The effect the series has had on his career, and the perception of him as an actor, felt like committing a crime to the veteran.

Olyphant’s acting career seemed to move at a slow pace before nabbing the hit TV series Justified. The Santa Clarita Diet star enjoyed success in supporting film roles and television shows such as Deadwood. But up until Justified, Olyphant’s prospects and opportunities in the film industry were usually uncertain.
“Honestly, I feel like I spent the last 10 years just trying to work, just get my hands on the best material I could. I’d like to say that it was quite calculated and genius, my ability to take one step forward and two steps back,” Olyphant once told Entertainment Weekly.

[This story contains spoilers from Justified: City Primeval‘s two-episode premiere.]
From The Wonder Years and Early Edition to Justified old and new, you’ve likely seen Michael Dinner’s name on your TV screen for as long as you can remember. Dinner has been directing since the early ’80s, including eight episodes of the original Justified. But ever since he co-wrote an episode of the Elmore Leonard-inspired series in 2015, he’s done a bit more writing and even served as co-showrunner of 2017’s Electric Dreams. So, when it came time to revive Justified and original series showrunner Graham Yost was committed to an Apple TV+ deal, Dinner, along with Dave Andron, stepped up to become co-showrunner of Justified: City Primeval, which combines Leonard’s 1980 crime novel, City Primeval, with the Raylan Givens-led world of Justified.

Anyone who knows beloved crime novelist Elmore Leonard only through Justified, the 2010 TV adaptation of his work, might be confused as to why its reboot, Justified: City Primeval, moves the action from the hollers of Harlan County, Kentucky to the rust belt of Detroit, Michigan.
That confusion is understandable as Justified enjoys one of the most richly-realized settings in modern television history. Despite filming nearly the entirety of its six-season run in Southern California (the pilot was shot in Pittsburgh), FX‘s saga about an anachronistic stetson-wearing lawman was absolutely steeped in Appalachian realness. Indeed, the entire premise of the show revolved around Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) being forced to relocate back to his troubled Kentucky hometown following a questionably “justified” shooting of a crime lord in Miami.
Justified quite simply does not work without its Harlan County setting. The weight of history bears down on...

Justified's Raylan Givens returned to FX with Justified: Primeval City this week, but the sequel series is missing a key character from the original series. Walton Goggins did not revive his character of Boyd Crowder – the childhood friend of Raylan, played by Timothy Olyphant.
Justified: Primeval City picks up 15 years after Justified, with Givens now living in Miami and raising his daughter. A chance encounter takes him to Detroit on the hunt for a killer. Aunjanue Ellis, Vondie Curtis Hall, Adelaide Clemens, Marin Ireland, Victor Williams, Norbert Leo Butz, and Boyd Holbrook also star in the series.
