It has taken Kim Petras 15 years to get a debut album out. In the interim, the German singer —songwriter’s steady rise has made her one to watch among pop artists: Her “Era 1” singles, released from 2017 to 2019, were a cool homage to fizzy 2000s bubblegum, and her pair of Halloween-themed mixtapes were edgy, spooky fun. Earlier this year, Petras became the first trans artist to have a Number One hit, with her Sam Smith collaboration “Unholy.”
But the journey to Feed the Beast hasn’t been all Champagne and glitter.

The wait is over: Kim Petras has released her debut studio album, Feed the Beast. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
The album features several of Petras’ recent singles, including “Alone” featuring Nicki Minaj (which sampled Alice DeeJay’s “Better Off Alone”), January’s “brrr,” and her history-making Sam Smith duet “Unholy.” Banks also makes an appearance on “Bait.”
Petras announced the release on social media with a noir photo of a medieval-looking sword propped up against a large stone: “The story begins,” she wrote along with the post. Although the German singer has shared one full-length mixtape and a couple of compilation albums, this will mark her first-ever proper LP.
Feed the Beast follows Petras’ 2022 EP Slut Pop, and she’s set to perform at Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal this August ahead of her 34-date world tour. Tickets for all of her upcoming shows are available here.

“Everything I drop is a banger,” Kim Petras declares on “Uhoh,” a filter house-influenced track from her long-awaited debut studio album, Feed the Beast. And, for the most part, she delivers on that promise. From the verse to the pre-chorus to the instrumental drop and chopped-up vocal bridge, the song—which was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, the knob-twirler behind Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”—is stacked with hooks.
Much of the rest of Feed the Beast follows suit, including the Dr. Luke-helmed “Revelations,” which channels ’80s post-disco, complete with squelchy electric guitar solo, and the breezy “Coconuts,” a cheeky, pun-filled ode to Petras’s “margari-tatas.” Elsewhere, lead single “Alone” is built around a sample of Alice Deejay’s infectious “Better Off Alone,” though it leans too heavily on that late-’90s club hit’s synth hook to make much of a distinct impression of its own.

The preview snippets for “Alone,” the latest single from Kim Petras with a guest verse from Nicki Minaj, teased the arrival of the song of the summer. “It’s Barbie and it’s Kim Petras,” the rapper introduced in the first TikTok confirming the collaboration, punctuated by the singer’s signature “Woo-Ah!” That was several weeks ago and now the record (and its video) are here in full.
On Tuesday, Petras and Minaj released the song’s official video, which follows Petras singing from behind a retro TV — in one scene,...

Kim Petras has enlisted Nicki Minaj for the single “Alone,” the latest track from the singer’s untitled debut studio album. Continuing the persistent trend of reviving Y2K-era hits, the new song samples Alice DeeJay’s instantly-recognizable 1999 Eurodance hit “Better Off Alone.”
Petras teased the collab on her Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter with audio snippets and hints to decipher. It’s the third single to come from her major label debut, due out sometime this year. The club hit follows early 2023’s “brrr,” an industrial pop ditty offering another nod to the dance music she was influenced by as a teen.
Earlier this year, Petras took home her first Grammy alongside Sam Smith for “Unholy,” which was named Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Minaj recently lent a guest verse to Ice Spice for a remix of “Princess Diana.”

After some teasing on social media, Lindsay Lohan has released a new single, “Back to Me,” via Republic Records. The song, produced by Mark Ralph and written by Ralph alongside Alma and Chiara Hunter, is her first new music of the year.
On the pulsating pop track, Lohan confronts the tough times of her past, singing, “My life is full of ripped up pages/I’ve been weak, contagious/But I’m coming back, I’m coming back to me/Oh, but I know that everything changes.”

Everything about Lindsay Lohan’s new song — “Xanax,” featuring Alma — is about as bizarre, in a good way, as you’d expect. The track isn’t available on any major streaming services yet, instead opting to exist only as a music video on Igtv. “This video is a compilation of vignettes of life,” its caption reads. “Family, love, the process of moving forward and letting go of the past. To live and be happy, free of fear. Just to be grateful and open our eyes to our opportunities instead of numbing the mind.

We have the first trailer for Max Minghella’s debut as a writer-director, Teen Spirit, and I am here for it. I mean, I have questions, for sure. Like, why is the marketing push so heavily focussed on the fact that Elle Fanning will be singing covers of very mainstream pop hits? Is that a thing the world has been clamoring for? And if this is a spin on Cinderella, does that make Rebecca Hall the fairy godmother? Also, I have this (probably totally misbegotten) idea that debut films from writer-directors are intensely personal, so why is Minghella’s first film a retelling of Cinderella in which Elle Fanning sings a lot of covers of mainstream pop hits? I would like to sit down and talk to him about that for seven to twelve hours.
All of that aside, from the trailer this looks like pretty much my platonic ideal of a film,...

Elle Fanning enters a singing competition and battles for the chance at pop career in the new trailer for Teen Spirit.
The teaser cobbles together shots of Fanning singing a cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” kinetic dance practices and images of glossy performances that wouldn’t be out of place on The Voice. The trailer is low on dialog, but it manages to balance insecure statements from Fanning (“I never dreamed I would make it this far”) with a pair of cliche pep-talks, one from her coach (“You can do this,...
