I hope she gave y’all a little bit of that too. she’s such a tiny part of representation but even the tiny parts count. I wouldn’t be half the person I am without her and y’all.

The Creative Coalition’s annual Humanitarian Awards takes place the week of the Primetime Emmys — but even though the big show was pushed to January, the benefit luncheon still took place on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the La Peer Hotel rooftop in West Hollywood, attracting a wide range of honorees and presenters.
The Humanitarian Awards recognizes talent who donate their time, resources and their celebrity to promote worthy social causes. This year, honors went to Jason Alexander, Pauline Chalamet, Billy Eichner, Wendie Malick, Arian Moayed and Lena Waithe, as well as Josefina López, who was saluted with the Your Voice Carries Weight award. Presenters included Alyssa Milano, Cazzie David, Lawrence O’Donnell, Gloria Calderón Kellet, Samantha Hanratty, Debbie Levin, Bradley Whitford and Darnell Moore.
Variety co-editor-in-chief Cynthia Littleton hosted the luncheon, which opened with remarks from The Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk; both cited the org’s continued fight for arts funding and education.

For as long as New York City has been the de facto epicenter of American independent film, there have been scenes where a child that’s wise beyond their years strikes up a bond with a raggedy man on the street who knows a thing or two about life. It’s a quintessential stock scene that highlights everything about New York that filmmakers find so inspiring — the eat-or-be-eaten lifestyle forces everyone to mature and turn into philosophers, but the urban density simultaneously forces people to interact and see each other as humans.
It’s also a surefire sign that you’re watching a New York Movie, a category that only encompasses a small percentage of films that are set in New York. The iconography of directors like Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese has permeated culture so deeply that it’s become a rite of passage for certain filmmakers to recreate...

The 1984 Talking Heads extravaganza from Jonathan Demme is presented in its new iteration by A24 — meaning the decades-old movie can now extend its reach to a new, younger audience that is A24’s core fan base. Opening numbers are hard to gauge since there aren’t many comps but there are parties, discos, stars and sellouts with film looking at about $1.5 million, including Thursday previews.
A 40th anniversary large-format special premiere screening at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month had people dancing in the aisles and broke Imax records. Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are keeping their romance casual amid busy schedules, a source tells Et.
“Kylie and Timothée are still seeing each other when they can. Kylie’s busy with work and traveling a lot, but they make time for each other when it works and both like each other,” the source says, following false reports earlier this month that they had gone their separate ways. “They’re keeping things low key and chill for now, but get along great and have fun together.”
Neither star has addressed the romance publicly nor have they stepped out together in an official capacity. In May, Jenner, 25, was spotted at 27-year-old Chalamet’s home in Beverly Hills. She also attended a family barbecue with her sister, Kendall Jenner, and Timothée’s sister, Pauline Chalamet, both on hand.

Big changes are afoot at Essex College. The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 finale marked a number of major turning points for the core four: Bela (Amrit Kaur) is looking to transfer schools, Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) is planning to move out of the suite, and Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) kissed her roommate’s ex-boyfriend, placing her at the cusp of a messy love triangle. It’s already more than enough to feed another chaotic semester for the girls. But to add even more fuel to the fire, series regular Reneé Rapp is set to depart the Max comedy during its upcoming third season.

Good news and bad news, "The Sex Lives of College Girls" fans: the hit HBO Max series is returning for a third season! But, sadly, one of the fan favorites is leaving the show. On July 9, Variety reported that Reneé Rapp, who plays Leighton, is downsizing to a recurring role in season three before she'll ultimately depart. Rapp then confirmed the news shortly after, writing in a statement on social media, "College girls moved me out to L.A. and introduced me to some of my favorite people. Two and a half years later - it's given me y'all and this community."
She continued, "Thank u Mindy, Justin and everyone at Max for believing in me. A lot of queer work gets belittled - but playing Leighton has changed my life. I love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her. I hope she gave y'all a little bit of that too.

Reneé Rapp is reflecting on The Sex Lives of College Girls as she prepares to bid farewell to the series, which was her television debut.
Deadline broke the news Monday that Rapp would be departing the Max series, appearing in only a handful of Season 3 episodes. The Sex Lives of College Girls is going to bid adieu to one of its core four in the upcoming third season: Reneé Rapp is leaving the show. The actress, who is known for playing wealthy roommate and legacy student Leighton, is following in her onscreen brother’s footsteps after Gavin Leatherwood departed the show following its first season. According to Deadline, the actress will appear in a handful of episodes from the upcoming third season and will exit the series by the end of its run. (Credit: HBO Max) The news may come as a shock considering Leighton’s integral role in the friend group at the center of this Max comedy from co-creators Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble. Rapp’s exit means she’ll say goodbye to costars Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, and Alyah Chanelle Scott, who play Leighton’s roommates and pals Kimberly, Bela, and Whitney. Needless to say,...

Reneé Rapp will depart the Max original comedy during its upcoming third season.
Deadline broke the news, but there's some good news.
The actress is set to return for a handful of episodes in what should bring her character's arc to a close.
It's unclear at this stage how many episodes the star will appear in, but it's nice knowing Leighton won't be disappearing between seasons.
The Sex Lives of College Girls was a breakout role for Rapp, serving as her first TV series.

Max’s comedy The Sex Lives of College Girls is saying goodbye to one of its core quartet of suitemates.
Renee Rapp will exit the series during its upcoming third season. The actress and recording artist will appear in a few episodes, but as a recurring guest star rather than a series regular, that sets up her character Leighton Murray’s departure from Essex College.
The show’s second season ended with Leighton coming out to her dad and quitting her sorority, while her roommates dealt with issues of their own.
Rapp played Regina George in the Mean Girls musical on Broadway and reprises the role in the film version, which began production in the spring. She’s also signed to Interscope Records and released a debut EP, Everything to Everyone, last year. Her first full-length album, Snow Angel, is set for release in August.

In HBO/Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, Amrit Kaur plays Bela, who often finds herself in sticky situations for stopping at nothing to advance her comedy writing career.
“I’m very similar,” says the 30-year-old actress, who grew up in Ontario in a Sikh family. “I think my approach to acting is: There is nothing in the human experience that isn’t in me. I’m very ambitious. I love comedy. I love fashion. I am so desperate to be liked, I am so desperate to be the most beautiful. I’m so desperate to make everyone happy. Those are things that are the cusp of Bela.”

Cate Blanchett kicked off her stilettos on Friday night as she took the stage a Cannes Film Festival party hosted by Variety and the Golden Globes. Because this is Cannes, where women are mandated to wear heels on the red carpet, shoes have become a political symbol on the French Riviera. And indeed, in this case, Blanchett went barefoot to make a statement — to stand in solidarity with the women of Iran. The A-list actor, on hand to present “Holy Spider” star Zar Amir Ebrahimi with a breakthrough artists award, grabbed the trophy and joked, “This is to stab everyone who stands in the way of women’s rights. Up the vajayjay!”
In her remarks, an emotional Ebrahimi called attention to her home country, which is “executing innocent people.” She said, “I always thought being an actress was a paradox: serving the emotions of your own and being a flag or mirror or light.

Donielle Nash is making a name for herself. Spoiler Alert: This post contains plot details from the Season 2 finale of HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls
Everything is in shambles. Or, at least that’s how it seems after the Season 2 finale of The Sex Lives of College Girls. As the school year at Essex College came to a close, the four women at the center of the story seemed to be finishing their first year on a high note — until they weren’t.
Leighton [Reneé Rapp] broke up with her girlfriend, dropped her sorority and jumped head first back into a relationship with her ex, Alicia [Midori Francis]. She is, perhaps, the only one who seems to be in a good place by the end of the season (though rushing back into things with Alicia is bound to cause strife at some point).

Charlie Hall knows he's not a fan favorite among "The Sex Lives of College Girls" fans - and he's totally fine with that. "I kind of love that he's unlikeable," the 25-year-old tells Popsugar of his character Andrew, aka Whitney's (Alyah Chanelle Scott) biochem lab partner and love interest in season two.
Hall joined the HBO Max hit series, which wrapped up its second season on Dec. 15, just a few years after graduating from Northwestern University and pursuing an acting career. Like his costar Mitchell Slaggert, the actor - whose parents are "Seinfeld" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and "Saturday Night Live" alum Brad Hall - auditioned for a different role than the one he landed, but he admits he loved the challenge of playing his detested character.
"It's a fun little challenge to play someone that you're not rooting for in a way that is entertaining and also in a way that's funny.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the Season 2 finale of “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”
The writers of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” are unashamed to call themselves “agents of chaos.” To be fair, it’s part of the job description: “I mean, we’re telling the stories of 18- and 19-year-old girls living together,” laughs showrunner Justin Noble, who co-created the series with Mindy Kaling. So it shouldn’t have come as a surprise when Season 2 ended rather sourly for its protagonists.
Bela (Amrit Kaur) cheats on Eric (Mekki Leeper) with a famous comedian (John Paul Reynolds), betrays her co-writers at the Foxy by approving a school newspaper spread that highlights her instead of the whole team, and tells a writer who asks for her feedback to quit comedy. Miserable and overwhelmed, and without telling her roommates, she decides to transfer out of Essex College.
