We knew it was only a matter of time, and Screen Junkies has now released an "Honest Trailer" for the second and final(?) movie in Zack Snyder's Star Wars-inspired sci-fi saga, Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver, aka, "Harvest Moon 2: Pain and Grain."
The guys don't have to work very hard to find things to make fun of here, but this still proves to be one of the funnier Honest Trailers we've seen in quite a while.
There's also a "restore the SnyderVerse" nod in there, but as is often the case, arguably the biggest laughs come from the character name changes ("Phone-In the Barbarian") right at the end.
Have a look at the Honest Trailer for The Scargiver below.

Both parts of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, are now streaming on Netflix, but we know that extended editions of the sci-fi adventures are on the way, and it seems they've been given completely different titles.
Though this has yet to be made official, Film Ratings lists the director's cut of Part 1 as "Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice Of Blood," and the movie has also been given an official R-rating for "brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language".
As Snyder has previously noted, it sounds like these extended cuts are going to be significantly more adult-oriented than the standard versions.
"They're each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]," the filmmaker told I Minutemen in a recent interview. "So it'll be nice to see the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It's a more,...

Zack Snyder’s two-part sci-fi epic Rebel Moon is now streaming in full on Netflix, with last year’s Part One: A Child of Fire followed by this year’s Part Two: The Scargiver.
But the Rebel Moon saga is far from over, because Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cuts of both movies are coming to Netflix. And they’re said to each be around One Hour Longer.
Of particular note, the Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts will be rated “R,” promising the bloody violence that wasn’t found in the PG-13 versions of the two movies currently on Netflix.
For starters, Rebel Moon – Part One: Director’s Cut has been rated “R” for…
“Brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.”
We don’t yet have a release date for these Director’s Cuts. Stay tuned.

Following a limited theatrical release, director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) was released through the Netflix streaming service back in December, then Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here) reached the service last month… but we’ve known from early on that these PG-13 versions of the movies wouldn’t be the only versions we’d see. Snyder has also put together extended director’s cut of both films, which will each have around an hour of additional footage. They’re expected to be released through Netflix sometime this summer, possibly in August, and the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire just got its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. It earned an R for brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is a drastically more watchable film than its predecessor, which spent so much time place-setting that it forgot to tell an actual story. The Scargiver is, essentially, the propulsive second and third acts that Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire was missing. All the heroes that our heroine, Kora (Sofia Boutella), collected in the first film have finally arrived on the farming planet of Veldt, ready to help defend it against the encroaching fascist armies of the Motherworld. From here, it’s basically the fast and loose Seven Samurai redux that A Child of Fire had been hinting at from minute one, with our legendary heroes helping to prepare this village of pacifist farmers to go to war.

[The following story contains spoilers for Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver.]
Zack Snyder knows the intricate future of his Rebel Moon universe, and now it’s up to the audience to make sure that Netflix leadership feels the demand to bring as many as four more movies to fruition.
Between today’s release of Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver and this summer’s R-rated director’s cuts of Part One and Two, Netflix subscribers will have plenty of opportunities to impose their will on the streamer, but currently, the situation is up in the air now that Snyder is caught up in an all-too-familiar regime change. Gone is the director’s longtime collaborator Scott Stuber, and with Dan Lin now taking the reins from Stuber as Netflix’s new film chief, it’s anyone’s guess as to how things will unfold.
“As they do their reshuffling, I’m just not sure what they intend. We 100 percent know where the movies go and everything,...

Zack Snyder has always managed to polarize viewers with his projects. He did it when he was at the helm of the Dceu, with some of his choices deemed a little scandalous. On the flip side, Snyder has garnered a massive fanbase, by primarily adapting comics into action films that satisfy the so-called ‘fanboys.’
The director’s new film, Rebel Moon- Part Two: The Scargiver, tells a very similar tale. While the second installment of the franchise has been panned by critics, the audience feels very differently about it. A few even believe that it might be better than Dune 2, the biggest hit of the year.

Plot: Kora (Sofia Boutella) and the rebels she recruited prepare to battle with the full force of Atticus Noble’s (Ed Skrein) Imperium.
Review: I took a bit of heat for my positive review of Rebel Moon Part One a few months ago, but I make no apologies for the fact that I found it an immersive, entertaining epic. I liked it a lot more than the last few Star Wars movies (particularly The Rise of Skywalker). So, I was eager to see the story reach its conclusion with Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver. While an entertaining, action-packed end to the saga, it’s also a clear-cut case of why Snyder’s longer director’s cuts should have been the only ones hitting Netflix. Even more than in the first film, this feels awkwardly fast-paced and anti-climactic at times due to the story having no room to breathe.

“Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” has been dead since last December, when the irredeemable first chapter of Zack Snyder’s hyper-derivative space opera was released “in theaters” and on Netflix to deafening silence. As I concluded my review at the time: “It’s hard to be even morbidly curious, let alone excited, about any future iterations or installments of a franchise so determined to remix a million things you’ve seen before into one thing you’ll wish you’d never seen at all.”
And so, much as I might have hoped that the second and more concentrated half of Snyder’s sci-fi “Seven Samurai” would somehow atone for the sins of its previous chapter, I wasn’t exactly shocked to discover that it lacks any trace of a pulse from the moment it starts. Five months in the morgue can have that effect. Be that as it may,...

Spoiler Alert: This review reveals details of both Rebel Moon movies.
Slow-motion scenes that sputter story pacing? Check.
Poorly developed characters? Check.
Plot holes bigger than the Milky Way? Check.
… And we’re back with part two of Zack Snyder’s Netflix space opera Rebel Moon -Part Two: The Scargiver. You might not be a shock to hear this, but part two manages to be worse than part one. Its biggest offense? Nothing happening for way too long. The film stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, Elise Duffy and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy the robot. While this is a capable cast of actors, they have nothing to work with. I wonder if the reason Snyder hasn’t delivered a comprehensible script in some time is because he wears too many hats as writer, producer, director and cinematographer on most of his films?...

Wheat. So much wheat.
That’s the main takeaway from the second installment of Zack Snyder’s interplanetary space saga that, depending on your perspective, either pays homage to or shamelessly rips off previous epics ranging from Seven Samurai to Star Wars. If you add up the running times of both Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver and the first film, it amounts to well over four hours. It’s not surprising, considering that this one features a sequence in which the characters harvest wheat for what seems longer than a Swedish art film. And I know that the setting is supposed to be an alternate universe, but considering that it features space ships and technically advanced weaponry, it seems a bit absurd that farming hasn’t advanced beyond scythes. Although the extremely buff performers look damn good wielding them.
Such musings are unavoidable when confronted with this would-be epic,...

A new movie just came out from Zack Snyder, the divisive but provocative director who has inspired legions of passionate and loyal fans online, but it hardly feels like anyone outside of the internet knows or even cares much. Perhaps that's the peril of falling into the streaming trap, where name-brand talents receive sky-high budgets for productions that no traditional studio is willing to support ... only to be promptly forgotten once its brief time in Netflix's weekly Top 10 reports comes and goes. Full disclosure: It's downright strange to have been able to see "Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver" in a theater and base this review on that experience, particularly when the vast majority of those reading this will never have the same opportunity. Yet it's stranger still that the film we've received, from a visionary auteur whose battles with corporate overlords during his tenure in the DC...

Love him or hate him, you cannot deny Zack Snyder garners more attention than most filmmakers working today. It’s no surprise that his fans have been champing at the bit to see his the second part of his dark sci-fi epic, which it titled Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver.
Snyder debuted Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Light in December. That film introduced viewers to a futuristic science fiction world, drawing from beloved tropes about scrappy rebels, mysterious prophecies, and a totalitarian empire. The movie pulls ideas from Star Wars, the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa, and Frank Herbert’s Dune imbues them with his signature gritty style to create something that feels very nerdy and very Snyder.
While A Child of Light met with mixed reviews, the second part could make up for that, while also answering some of the...

“Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” is nearly here. And a new trailer, which you can watch above, showcases what we can expect from the anticipated follow-up.
If you missed the first “Rebel Moon,” subtitled “A Child of Fire,” then you missed Sofia Boutella as Kora, a young woman who has put her warrior ways behind her but is forced to fight when an evil galactic empire threatens her small backwater planet.
Kora travels around the cosmos in an attempt to recruit fighters. There’s Djimon Hounsou as a down-on-his-luck gladiator, Doona Bae as a cyborg with a sword, Staz Nair as a guy who has a special bond with animals, etc. Once she gets everybody together, they think they have thwarted the sinister forces of darkness … but as the movie ends and she returns to her peaceful valley it is made clear that not only is the villainous...

The first look at Zack Snyder’s ambitious follow-up to last year’s A Child Of Fire is full of action and a pleasing amount of Anthony Hopkins’ Jimmy. Watch the first Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver here.
The first trailer for Zack Snyder’s second Rebel Moon film, this time subtitled The Scargiver, has just appeared online, courtesy of Netflix.
Watch it below.
Just last week, we asked if the world had already forgotten Snyder’s two-part cinematic event. Snyder himself has been promoting the films and even claimed that more people had watched Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire than Barbie, 2023’s highest grossing film.
We’ll probably never know whether that’s true or not, but we do know The Scargiver is heading to Netflix next month.

"I have no choice... but to fight!" Here we go again. Netflix has launched the main official trailer for Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, the finale of Zack Snyder's sci-fi saga. The first half, Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire, is now playing on Netflix worldwide after launching in December last year. There is also supposedly an R-rated "Director's Cut" arriving sometime soon (maybe better to wait for that). Rebel Moon is an original Zack Snyder creation, a Star Wars-esque sci-fi thriller about a ragtag team of rebels. In a universe controlled by a corrupt militaristic government, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the Imperium, the army of the Mother World controlled by "Regent Balisarius". Sofia Boutella stars as Kora, a former Imperium fighter who rallies warriors from across the galaxy to fight back. Part Two features an ensemble cast lead by Djimon Hounsou,...

Crypt TV, ShinAwiL, and Eli Roth, in partnership with Meta, have announced their first scripted VR episodic series The Faceless Lady, presented by Eli Roth, written by Jerome Velinsky and directed by John William Ross (The Birch). This six-episode series is the first known scripted original VR live action, stereoscopic (3D) series ever produced of its size.
The Ireland-set storyline is inspired by the real life seventeenth century Irish folklore of Lady Margaret Hodnett who is said to haunt Belvelly Castle in Cork stalking visitors through mirrors and reflective surfaces. Adapted for modern day with a supernatural twist, The Faceless Lady follows three couples who have been invited to a medieval castle in Ireland for a weekend competition where they will either win her games or lose their lives.

Eli Roth is continuing to push the horror genre into new terrain, except this time, it’s through virtual reality.
The “Thanksgiving” director produces Meta, Crypt TV, and ShinAwiL series “The Faceless Lady” which will debut exclusively on Meta Horizon Worlds. Billed as the first known live-action VR series, the six-episode “The Faceless Lady” will premiere in stereoscopic (3D) and have weekly installments that transport viewers (players?) into a new world.
The series is set in Ireland and has a storyline inspired by real 17th century Irish folklore, particularly the myths surrounding Lady Margaret Hodnett who haunts Cork’s Belvelly Castle. Lady Margaret Hodnett is fabled to watch the castle’s visitors through mirrors and reflective surfaces. “The Faceless Lady” turns the myth on its head, quite literally, with three couples trying to survive playing Lady Margaret’s games during a weekend stay at the castle.

Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire (read our review Here), the first part of director Zack Snyder’s two-part sci-fi epic, has been available to watch on the Netflix streaming service for over a month, and now we’re getting ready for the April 19th release of the follow-up Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver. With its release date just two months away, Rebel Moon Part Two has received its official rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board: PG-13 for sequences of strong violence, brief strong language and suicide. Also earning a PG-13 rating this week is the Blumhouse horror film Imaginary, which reaches theatres on March 8th. Imaginary got its PG-13 for some violent content, drug material and language.
Neither one of these ratings comes as a surprise. Many Blumhouse movies, from Insidious to Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN, and Night Swim have PG-13 ratings. As for Rebel Moon,...

Every Zack Snyder film has a handful of sequences that even his fiercest critics can’t help but admire, and in the case of Rebel Moon, Staz Nair may have received the most rousing one of all.
Nair, whose previous big break came in the form of a Dothraki warrior on the later seasons of Game of Thrones, now inhabits the role of Tarak, a former prince who’s lost his way for reasons that will become apparent in Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver and the extended R-rated director’s cuts of both films. The audience first meets an enslaved Tarak at Hickman’s (Ray Porter) ranch on Neu-Wodi, as Kora (Sofia Boutella) and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman) hope to recruit him for their newfound rebellion against Admiral Noble’s (Ed Skrein) hostile takeover of their Veldt farming village.

Yesterday, we shared some quotes from director Zack Snyder and co-writer Kurt Johnstad where they gave some information on what will be seen in the extended cut of Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review of the PG-13 cut Here), which will be released through the Netflix streaming service sometime after Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver reaches the service on April 19th. Speaking of Rebel Moon: Part Two, Johnstad also told The Hollywood Reporter what can be expected from that film: “a nonstop action rollercoaster ride of twists and turns.”
When asked how the second half of the story compares to the first, the co-writer answered, “I would say that it’s definitely its own movie, and it’s a very different movie. It’s not an assembly of the team. The team is built, and now it’s why they fight. I think [the PG-13 cut] is two hours,...

Hear me out: "Rebel Moon" isn't actually as bad as you might think. Sure, Netflix's latest team-up with bro auteur Zack Snyder can feel more like a love letter to older, better movies than it does a story all its own. The streamer's request for a more family-friendly version of Snyder's vision also didn't help, as the PG-13 cut of the film seems woefully incomplete in some respects. But even with the knowledge of a reportedly better, R-rated cut of "Rebel Moon" sitting hostage on some Netflix executive's hard drive, there's still a lot to like about the film as is.
With "Rebel Moon," Snyder set out to remix epics like "Star Wars" and "Seven Samurai" — and if you squint, his liberal homages serve this story quite well, especially where the characters of "Rebel Moon" are concerned.

Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire debuted this weekend on Netflix, and while critics were cool with the film (with one exception – yours truly), the film is a hit with viewers. While the official numbers will likely only be released later today or tomorrow, the streamer took advantage of the hype, releasing the first teaser trailer for the sequel, Rebel Moon: Part Two: The Scargiver – yesterday.
Many fans have noted that some of the co-stars in the movie, including Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Staz Nair as Tarak, and Cleopatra Coleman as Devra Bloodaxe, have limited screen time. Where do you fall on the great "Rebel Moon" debate? Believe it or not, director Zack Snyder might've just released another divisive entry into his oeuvre and, now that critics have had their say (you can find my review for /Film here), it's time for viewers to see what works or not for themselves. But as much as the central discussion around the movie thus far has focused on the story's plethora of influences, from "Star Wars" to "Dune" to "Seven Samurai" and many more, perhaps the best scene in the film seems to take inspiration from a very different source altogether. In fact, this sequence in "Rebel Moon" sure feels like an intentional echo of one of Snyder's most celebrated moments from his own filmography.
Filmmakers can certainly do far worse than attempt to recapture...

Plot: In a dark corner of the universe controlled by a Fascist regime called The Motherworld, a former soldier named Kora (Sofia Boutella) tries to escape her past by living as a simple farmer on a peaceful moon called The Veldt. When that moon is invaded by The Motherworld and her friends are threatened, Kora sets off to recruit an army of soldiers to battle with the Motherworld and end their tyranny.
Review: Take Star Wars, a liberal amount of Seven Samurai, The Magnificent Seven, and Battle Beyond the Stars, and mix it in with a heavy helping of Heavy Metal (both the magazine and the film), and you end up with Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon. While a bit overstuffed (Snyder maybe made it a little too lean at just over two hours), it’s nonetheless a deliriously entertaining sci-fi epic that one could easily call the Best Star Wars Movie Never Made.

Not only is this blockbuster behemoth merely the first installment of a two-part film—the second, subtitled The Scargiver, is set to be released in April—it’s a truncated version of its maker’s substantially longer preferred cut, which makes the film two-thirds of one-half of a story.
Rebel Moon began life as a Star Wars project before Snyder’s concept was turned down, and the resulting film often sounds as though the director and co-writers Kurt Johnsta and Shay Hatten did little more to their draft than perform a find-and-replace for any terms trademarked by Disney. The film even piggybacks off of George Lucas’s indebtedness to Kurosawa Akira: Its protagonist, Kora (Sofia Boutella), is a disillusioned veteran of the “Motherworld” autocracy who,...

Directed by Zack Snyder, who also co-wrote the script, Rebel Moon is the first part of a planned space epic that’s set to span at least one initial trilogy, followed by a further trilogy of sequels. Part Two – The Scargiver, has already been filmed, but it remains to be seen if the third part will make it to the screen, as the first part of the trilogy is decidedly disappointing.
Essentially a reworking of Battle Beyond the Stars (1980) – which, in turn, was basically “Seven Samurai / The Magnificent Seven in Space” – Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, a former soldier who sets about recruiting a team of space warriors when corrupt government forces threaten her home planet,...

Zack Snyder is a pop-fantasy filmmaker who now has a fanboy cult around him. In the two decades since Snyder made his feature directorial debut with the grainy unsettling 2004 reboot of “Dawn of the Dead,” his flamboyant fusion of visual wizardry, technological fixation, and kick-ass spirit has made him, at least in some quarters (read: the Comic-Con and video-game demo), a creative hero for the Age of Escapism. Fans who grew up feasting on such Snyder extravaganzas as “300,” “Watchmen,” and “Sucker Punch” then saw his much-ballyhooed entrée into the DC comic-book sphere marked by ambitious but maligned misfires. Yet in 2021, the release of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” — his uncut and quite extraordinary version of the movie that Warner Bros. had tapped Joss Whedon to mangle into an “audience-friendly” product — was a vindication that also marked a new peak of reverence for the Snyder cult.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon-Part 1: Child of Fire his latest foray into science fiction, ambitiously attempts to weave a tale of interstellar rebellion and personal redemption. Written by Snyder, and co-written by Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten, the film struggles under the weight of its own aspirations, lacking the distinct personality often associated with Snyder’s works. The film delivers on the visual aesthetics, the film falters in delivering a compelling story. The film stars Sofia Boutella, Michiel Huisman, Charlie Hunnam, Dijmon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Doona Bae, and Staz Nair.
Stranded on a distant moon, the enigmatic Kora (Boutella) finds refuge in a community of farmers. Her life takes a dramatic turn when the oppressive Regent Balisarius (Fee) and his aide, Admiral Noble (Skrein), target the settlement for trading with Darrian and Devra Bloodaxe (Fisher and Coleman), who are rebel leaders opposed by the dominant Motherworld.
