In support of the developing "Batgirl" standalone feature, scripted by Christina Hodson ("Bumblebee"), take a look at DC Comics' "Batgirl" #26, written by Mairghread Scott and illustrated by Paul Pelletier, with covers by Sean Murphy and Joshua Middleton:

"...the villain K.O.'s 'Batgirl' with a souped-up stun gun that temporarily disrupts the device implanted in her spine to help her walk..."
'Batgirl' aka 'Betty Kane' (named after 'Batman' creator Bob Kane) debuted in DC Comics (1961), created by illustrator Bill Finger and writer Sheldon Moldoff...
...then in 1967, was replaced by 'Barbara Gordon', daughter of 'Gotham City' police commissioner 'James Gordon'...
...in "Detective Comics" #359, titled "The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!" by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Carmine Infantino.

If the quality boasted by the freshly released one-shot Dark Days: The Forge #1 is any indication of how good Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s much publicized reunion, Dark Nights: Metal, will be, then I think it’s safe to say we’re about to bear witness to a story that’ll be talked about for decades to come.
So, aside from already receiving hints at how deep Snyder is willing to go when it comes to utilizing the rich history DC has to offer, in addition to knowing how this is set to be the vanguard of the new Dark Matter imprint, it should come as no surprise that a slew of tie-ins are slated to arrive this fall.

The finale of “The Lazarus Contract” has arrived in Teen Titans: The Lazarus Contract Special #1, and what a fitting conclusion it is to the best arc of 2017 so far. In fact, it’s so good that this issue will surely end up on many ‘best of’ lists by the end of the year.
As Deathstroke rips through time to save his son Grant from death, the Titans teams go back to the past to stop Slade. Unfortunately, Damian Wayne doesn’t play well with others and decides to stop the past Wally’s heart in an attempt to cut Deathstroke’s speed power at the source. Yes, the little douche actually did that, can you believe it? Credit where credit’s due, though, because the plan does work.
With Deathstroke trapped inside the Speed Force, there’s a moment of celebration for the heroes,...

This review is based off a volume that collects Guardians of the Galaxy (2008) #1, Guardians of the Galaxy (2013) #0.1-1 and Rocket Raccoon (2014) #1.
Confession time: I have no love for the Guardians of the Galaxy characters, and my excitement level for their upcoming movie is nearly at zero. Having said that, it shouldn’t surprise you that Rocket and Groot’s charm has no effect on me. I know, I’m made of stone. But, if you can put characters in a story or package that seems intriguing to me, I’ll give it a chance. In this case, it happens to be a treasury edition.
If memory serves me correctly, I’ve never owned something like this. So, when this beauty came across my desk, I knew I had to read and review it. Measuring about one and a half times the height and length of your average comic book, I...

Things are certainly picking up for Slade Wilson, as he’ll soon find himself as the lynchpin in DC’s crossover event this May, “The Lazarus Contract.” Set to span four books – Titans, Teen Titans, Deathstroke and a Teen Titans Annual – it will place Wally West directly in the crosshairs of the world’s deadliest assassin, who aims to resurrect the original Ravager, his son Grant.
Luckily, we’ll get a great sense of cohesion when you take into account that the regular writers for each participating series – Dan Abnett, Benjamin Percy and Christopher Priest – will join their great minds and co-write every issue that’s part of the crossover.
Suffice it to say, this project couldn’t come at a more opportune time when you consider that the animated film Teen Titans: The Judas...

Just days after Cullen Bunn announced that he was leaving the solo Aquaman title due to negative backlash from fans regarding the current storyline, it appears that DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer is stepping in to right the ship. There's currently no timetable for when Johns and his creative team will take over but Bunn will be departing the title in January 2016. Johns will be looking to complete the "Rise of the Seven Seas" storyline he previously hinted at in the close of his original run in November 2014. Following Johns departure in late 2014, the series saw the creative teams of Dan Jurgens + Lan Medina, Jeff Parker + Paul Pelletier and then Bunn + Trevor McCarthy all attempt to sustain the momentum the title had while riding the New 52 wave but to little success. I can officially say that Ivan Reis, @Joe_Prado and I have started work on #Riseofthe7Seas! The team is back.

Captain America: Civil War is in post-production, Doctor Strange is about to go before the cameras, and now Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just beginning to ramp up for its distant May 5, 2017 release. Last week, Pom Klementieff joined the principal cast in a yet-to-be-confirmed role. The word is Klementieff is playing Mantis, the green-skinned anntenaed “Celestial Madonna” familiar to hardcore Avengers comics fans (and a favorite creation of comic writer Steve Englehart). Mantis was a member of the Guardians under Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Paul Pelletier’s 2008 comic book reinvention of the team, which in turn inspired the movie. She has an almost ludicrously convoluted history as a character, filled with death, doppelgangers, false pregnancies, real...

Batman and Robin Eternal #3
Story by Scott Snyder and James Tynion
Script by Tim Seeley

Colors by Rain Beredo
Letters by Joshua Cozine and Troy Peteri
Published by DC Comics
Working off a story from Scott Snyder and James Tynion, Tim Seeley turns in a script for Batman and Robin Eternal #3 that is simultaneously full of bouncy Bat- (or Robin) banter with some choice douchiness from Red Hood and scenes both past and present featuring the dark psychological effects of the Scarecrow’s fear toxin. This is somehow connected to the “mysterious” Mother, which our heroes are no closer to finding her identity. But there is still plenty of conflict as Dick Grayson’s Spyral colleague Poppy Ashemoore goes off the reservation, and threat level of the series increases when an important supporting character is...

Batman and Robin Eternal #2

Script by Tim Seeley

After last week’s blockbuster opening, Batman and Robin Eternal #2 has a little bit of a sophomore slump as a mysterious assassin almost beats Harper Row (aka Bluebird) to death until she is saved by Dick Grayson and a silent, deadly Cassandra Cain, who runs off to do other mysterious things. After the extended action scene, most of the issue is Stephanie freaking out about Dick being alive along with a flashback of Batman and Dick Grayson as Robin fighting the Scarecrow with some twisted, horror influenced art from Paul Pelletier and Tony Kordos and a bendy, trippy color scheme from Rain Beredos. This sequence makes up for a mostly lackluster fight scene between the mystery attacker, Cass, and...
