American League umpire, 1955-1973; umpired four World Series (1959, 1963, 1966, 1971) and three All-Star Games (1959, 1962, 1970).
Served in the US Marine Corps, June 1942-June 1946.
Umpired first major league game 11 April 1955; umpired final major league game 30 September 1973.
Interred in Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
