Each season of the anthology series will center on one particular case, with the first installment based on Dean's 2016 Buzzfeed article "Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom To Be Murdered." In July 2016, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the brutal stabbing death (in Springfield, Missouri) of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard. It seemed like a remarkably tidy ending for an almost surreally sensational crime.
Gypsy, then 24, was arguably the biggest victim of all, having essentially been held hostage by her late mother since she was a young child – a casualty of Munchausen by Proxy, a rare disorder in which a caregiver feigns or induces symptoms of sickness in her charge.

How Murdered Missouri Mom Scammed the World and Controlled Daughter by Faking Girl’s Health Problems
For more than a decade, Gypsy Rose Blanchard lived in a wheelchair and suffered unnecessary medical procedures as her seemingly devoted mother, Dee Dee, received praise from doctors and family.
But authorities say the truth emerged after Gypsy had Dee Dee murdered on June 14, 2015: Though her mother said she was a terminally ill teenager, with the mental capacity of a child, Gypsy was then in fact 23 years old — and she could walk.
Experts believe she was the victim of a severe case of Munchausen by proxy, a relatively rare form of abuse in which a guardian, in this case Dee Dee,...

The Conspiracists Written and directed by Max Baker Presented by Stable Cable Lab Co. at Irt Theater, NYC April 22-May 7, 2017
Max Baker's new play, The Conspiracists, happens to be making its debut alongside widespread media coverage of the custody trial of toxic conspiracy monger Alex Jones, during which a lawyer for Jones argued that his on-air persona is merely performance art (a claim later disputed by his on-air persona). Many took this defense as a clear admission that he knowingly spreads lies for profit, but at least one writer has claimed that performing a character does not necessarily mean that the performer does not believe what the character delivers. That observation could apply equally well to the array of avowed believers who assemble as a support group in Baker's latest effort. In fact, one character, Hilda (Lisa Jill Anderson), posits, to the displeasure of the others, that belief in...

AMC is showing the love for Into the Badlands.
The beautifully filmed martial arts drama has just been renewed for a super-sized third season.
While Into the Badlands Season 1 consisted of six episodes and Into the Badlands Season 2 is currently at 10, Into the Badlands Season 3 will have a whopping 16 episodes for your exhaustion and enjoyment!
The series, which stars Daniel Wu, will return in 2018.
This renewal is quite a change from the second season renewal. Season 2 is currently airing.
Season 1 initially aired in 2015 and viewers had to wait until well into 2016 to get news of a renewal.
This could have something to do with the ratings. It's averaging 3.6 million total viewers and a 2.1 share of viewers 21-54 after three days of time-shifted viewing.
It's also the #4 scripted drama on cable as well as the fourth-ranked returning drama, behind only The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Fear the Walking Dead.

In June 2015, when a Missouri sheriff held a press conference about the stabbing murder of 48-year-old Dee Dee Blanchard in her bed, he cautioned that “things are not always as they appear.” You might call that an understatement. Blanchard’s chronically ill, wheelchair-bound daughter was a chief suspect, but the most shocking aspect of the case was that Gypsy Rose could walk, and the catalog of diseases for which she’d been treated over her 19 years was pure fiction.

The new documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest recounts the stranger-than-fiction story of Dee Dee Blanchard and her daughter Gypsy Rose, who was implicated in her mother’s 2015 murder. The HBO Documentary film, which will debut March 11 at the South by Southwest Film Festival and then begin airing May 15 on HBO, is not only the latest example in the growing genre of true-crime docs, but is also a particularly gothic entry, sort of a low-down Ozarks version of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?.

After a panel of five judges weigh in, a winner is chosen, and with that victory comes prestige, bragging rights and the promise of financial reward.
