“SNL” is taking the rest of November off, but when the show returns on “Dec. 3,” Keke Palmer will host with musical guest Sza.
The show announced the lineup Saturday.
The show comes three weeks after Dave Chappelle’s third time hosting — and third time hosting after a contentious election. Palmer meanwhile will be hosting after a contentious Thanksgiving holiday following that contentious election — or so we assume that’s how things will go.
Amy Schumer hosted last week’s show on Nov. 5 with musical guest Steve Lacy.
Season 48 premiere kicked off three new shows in a row, with Miles Teller hosting the first episode of the season followed by Brendan Gleeson on Oct. 8 and Megan Thee Stallion on Oct. 21.
The end of Season 47 marked the exits of cast members Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, Aristotle Athari and Chris Redd.

Exclusive: Saturday Night Live is set for its biggest change in a number of years.
Deadline understands that a number of long-featured stars including Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson are expected to leave the show at the end of this season.
It comes after creator Lorne Michaels admitted that he was expecting this year to be a “year of change” for the show.
We hear that there may be a big group goodbye, featuring all four the departees, at the end of tomorrow night’s episode, which is hosted by Natasha Lyonne.
It’s not a huge surprise given that this season – season 47 – featured its largest ever cast with 21 stars and eight cast members that were entering their eighth season and beyond.

For the second episode of the new season, Kim Kardashian West is doing hosting duties, joined by Halsey as the musical guest. Want to watch? You don’t have to have a traditional cable subscription to tune in.

In a new promo for tomorrow’s episode of Saturday Night Live, host-to-be Kim Kardashian West tells cast member Cecily Strong she isn’t nervous about trying sketch comedy. (Watch the clip above.)
“I don’t have to write sketches, do I?” she asks Strong, who confirms she doesn’t. “Memorize lines?” she asks. Halsey, this week’s musical guest, points out, “No, they’re on cue cards.”
Bringing the conversation back to her traditional strong suit, West inquires, “Everyone else won’t look as good as me, will they?” Replies Strong, “Absolutely not.” Satisfied, West declares, “It’s so easy.”
As is often the case with the weekly promos, this one starts with a different riff before an edit. Strong asks Halsey and West, “Should we start our own girl group?”
Halsey shoots back, “Absolutely not.” West adds, “We already said no when you pushed it backstage.”

This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” returned for its 47th season. With Beck Bennett (as well as one-and-done featured player Lauren Holt) out, Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman promoted to repertory players, and three new featured players, “SNL” is back with its largest cast ever.

“Saturday Night Live” returned last fall for its 46th season, where the cast and crew not only had to face a big election year but a new set of safety protocols in response to the pandemic. This prevented the usual close interaction behind the scenes at “SNL,” but the team was still able to find the funny even in hard times. The first six episodes leading up to the election featured Alec Baldwin in his final weeks as Donald Trump while Jim Carrey took on the role of Joe Biden. Maya Rudolph was also a major presence in the first half of the season, reprising her Emmy-winning role as Kamala Harris.

Elon Musk was one of the most controversial “Saturday Night Live” hosts in recent memory. But as it turns out, the billionaire entrepreneur won’t be winning any awards for his guest gig because NBC opted not to submit him for the 2021 Emmys.
When the Emmy ballots were unveiled on June 17, Musk’s name was nowhere to be found, which means Television Academy members cannot vote for him to receive a nomination. However, nine of his fellow “SNL” hosts were entered for awards consideration in the comedy guest categories: Dave Chappelle, Daniel Kaluuya, Dan Levy, John Mulaney, Rege-Jean Page, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Anya Taylor-Joy and Kristen Wiig. In addition, Alec Baldwin and Jim Carrey have been submitted as guests for playing Donald Trump and Joe Biden, respectively.

The cast of “Saturday Night Live” wrapped up their 46th season on May 22 by addressing the audience directly in the cold open to discuss the “crazy” year we all just went through due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But they weren’t alone: comedian and actor Chris Rock, who hosted the first episode of the season, joined them to bring things full-circle.
Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson kicked things off from the monologue stage at Studio 8H, with Thompson noting that it was actually a “fun year for me, but I’ve discovered people don’t love hearing that so I’m just going to say, ‘Yeah it was crazy.'”
Things were then turned over to Heidi Gardner, Bowen Yang and Ego Nwodim, who reflected on going from “weird shows at home to terrifying shows in person.”

Kate McKinnon kicked off the penultimate episode of “Saturday Night Live’s” 46th season by stepping back into Dr. Anthony Fauci’s shoes (and glasses and combover wig) to deliver a press conference about the CDC’s announcement that fully-vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks. But this wasn’t any ordinary “just stand at a podium and speak (and maybe take questions)” scenario. Instead, McKinnon’s Dr. Fauci brought out CDC doctors, played by the late-night sketch comedy series’ cast members, of course, to act out correct mask behavior since there have been so many questions about the announcement, including, “Is this a trap?”
Additionally for the second week in a row, all of the show’s cast appeared in the cold open sketch.
The first scene was entitled “Man Walks Into a Bar” and featured Beck Bennett as the titular man in question and Aidy Bryant as the worker at the bar.

In the cold open of the latest “SNL,” Kate McKinnon appeared as Fauci to explain the confusing (sorry but they are) new CDC mask guidelines. Unfortunately, McKinnon’s Fauci decided that “to clear things up, I found a few doctors at the CDC who minored in theater.”
The result was a series of bad sketches in which CDC personnel attempted to explain the new guidelines but instead conveyed the exact wrong messaging. Then again, that’s kind of like real life when you think about it.

The result was a series of bad sketches in which CDC personnel attempted to explain the new guidelines but instead conveyed the exact wrong messaging. Then again, that’s kind of like real life when you think about it.

Miley Cyrus opened the May 8 episode of “Saturday Night Live” with a song dedicated to “all the moms out there.”
Taking place the night before Mother’s Day, this episode has historically been treated as a Mother’s Day episode, with special songs and sketches dedicated to and often featuring cast members’ mothers. This cold open was no different.
Standing on stage at Studio 8H, she sang part of Dolly Parton’s “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” before bringing out some of the NBC late-night sketch comedy series’ cast members and their real-life mothers, including Kate McKinnon and Laura Campbell, who did a quick impression of Molly Shannon’s Mary Catherine Gallagher, and Aidy Bryant and Georganne Vinall, the latter of whom plugged her daughter’s show. When Bryant noted that “SNL” is not just her show, Vinall followed it up by plugging the third and final season of “Shrill” on Hulu.

Updated with video: Maya Rudolph returned as host on Saturday Night Live, reminiscing about her days as a cast member on the NBC late-night sketch show, while looking to the future.
“It makes me so happy to be here in the place that I love, I can’t tell you, especially after a year that has been, shall we say, a real kick in the clam,” Rudolph said in her opening monologue. “But it feels like we’re starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. People are getting the vaccine. My parents got theirs; I’m really happy to report that. It’s Spring, so goodbye sweater weather and hello leather weather?”
Some viewers might know her, she said, because of her nine seasons on the show, between 2000 and 2007. “Some of you may know me by the name ‘Mommy’ because I gave birth to you,” she added.

Maya Rudolph hosted “Saturday Night Live” on March 27 with musical guest Jack Harlow, the first live show for the NBC sketch series in a month. This was the “SNL” alum’s second time hosting, previously helming an episode in 2012. For her opening monologue, Rudolph began by discussing how the past year has been a real “kick in the clam,” but thankfully, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
SEERege-Jean Page ‘SNL’ monologue: ‘Bridgerton’ star is ‘here to show you a good time’
Rudolph discussed her past as an “SNL” alum, working as a cast member from 2000-07. She noted that as an “elder,” she felt compelled to help bring the younger cast members under her wing. Freshmen cast members Andrew Dismukes, Lauren Holt and Punkie Johnson then joined Rudolph onstage where they were treated to some life lessons from her time on the show. Kristen Wiig returned to the Saturday Night Live stage and joining her were a couple of her beloved skit characters.
The Wonder Woman 1984 actress reprised her old-timey Hollywood star Mindy Grayson and the easily-flustered Sue for various sketches on Saturday night. Up first was Mindy Grayson who once again appeared for the show’s parody game show Secret Word.
Sticking to tradition, Wiig’s Mindy played the game show incorrectly, revealing and repeating the secret word, and cost her team the game. She appeared opposite Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson, Lauren Holt and Andrew Dismukes.
The colorfully-dressed and endlessly-excited Sue also made her return to Studio 8H for a Christmas-themed sketch. Joined by Beck Bennett, Punkie Johnson, Melissa Villaseñor and Lauren Holt, Wiig’s Sue ruined the surprise at the center of a Christmas party reveal.
Wiig, whose additional characters include Gilly, Dooneese and Target Lady; hosted with Dua Lipa appearing as musical guest.

Although the swearing-in of President-elect Joe Biden is just about six weeks away, President Donald Trump has still been dominating the news, most recently with a hearing regarding allegations of fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Naturally, for “Saturday Night Live’s” first show back after a few week hiatus, the late-night sketch comedy series led with a satirization of that televised event, featuring Kate McKinnon as Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Cecily Strong as “star witness” Melissa Carone and Chloe Fineman as “Nicole Kidman’s character from ‘The Undoing'” (aka Grace Fraser).
McKinnon began the sketch, which you can watch above, by saying it was exciting to “just be in a courtroom where I’m not the defendant.” Planning to “prove” that the election was stolen “with a level of trickery” not seen since Harry Houdini, McKinnon’s Giuliani was interrupted by fart noises that the character claimed “wasn...

Saturday Night Live‘s Season 46 premiere paid tribute to late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Sept. 18 at the age of 87.
As Weekend Update drew to a close, Kate McKinnon — whose impersonation of Ginsberg has become the stuff of SNL legend — appeared in character as the Notorious Rbg, seated silently as the audience cheered. The show will feature Carrey most likely as Biden. Michaels, speaking in an interview with Vulture, said, “Maya Rudolph is coming back, and Alec [Baldwin] will be back. And I think Jim Carrey is going to do Biden.”
“There was some interest on his part. And then we responded, obviously, positively. But it came down to discussions about what the take was. He and Colin Jost had a bunch of talks. He and I as well. He will give the part energy and strength, and … [Laughs.] Hopefully it’s funny,” Michaels added.

“Saturday Night Live” has tapped Jim Carrey to play Democratic presidential candidate and former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden as the show gears up to put a satirical touch on the run up to Election Day – typically one of the series’ most influential periods.
Carrey gets a role that has been played by others in recent years. Former “SNL” cast member Jason Sudeikis played an affable, loud-talking version of Biden in past seasons, and Woody Harelson took on Biden duties as the show lampooned recently Democratic primary debates.
NBC plans to launch the 46th season of “Saturday Night Live” on October 3, the start of five consecutive broadcasts of the program. The show is planning to have a limited in-studio audience at Rockefeller Center for the upcoming season, and will work with authorities to stay abreast of health and safety concerns.
