Agam Jain(II)
- Producer
- Writer
- Actor
As a student at Delhi University, Agam found his passion and voice for storytelling when he wrote, acted in and directed street plays and stage plays.
Considering creative arts to not be a sustainable career option in India, he pursued a degree and career in financial services with his work spanning across Asia, Europe and North America. Starting this career at PwC in the UK, he worked in senior management roles at large firms, advising multi-national insurance companies and banks around financial risk management.
While living a seemingly blissful life in Bermuda and working at KPMG, he found himself drawn to attend a screenwriting workshop at the Bermuda International Film Festival, where he met other filmmakers and became inspired to moonlight as a Film Producer. He soon took on the role of an Executive Producer for an independent thriller shot in New York, "By Any Means", while co-creating and producing "A Piece of the Rock", a social impact documentary in Bermuda.
Both these films were released in 2017. By Any Means won multiple awards at independent film festivals and A Piece of the Rock led to widespread change in Bermuda around road safety issues. This led Agam to quit his job and move into film production full-time. During this transition phase, he also attended several filmmaking workshops on production, writing, direction and camera work at UCLA, NFTS, New York Film Academy, and Maine Media Institute. Agam is extremely passionate about films making a positive impact, both on and off camera.
Starting late 2017, he spent 18 months line producing two feature documentaries on modern day slavery and labour rights abuse in global manufacturing supply chains, shot across India, China, UK, US and Canada.
In 2020, Agam moved back to the UK and Co-Founded Take the Shot Films. During Covid-19 many projects were developed with his business partners and the creative team. Take The Shot Films started experimenting with virtual production technology, together with Ramaz Studios who were setting up shop at the same time. Together, they produced "A Bad Day to Propose", a micro-film, shot on Super 8 and Super 16 film cameras, using virtual production in the background and every shot captured on the first take. The super 8 version of this film was a winning entry at the extremely challenging Straight 8 film festival and had an "online Cannes premiere" in 2021 due to Covid-19. This film has now been archived at the British Film Institute for prosperity and was screened amongst the best films of their kind made during the past 20 years.
In 2022, Take The Shot Films finished principal photography on their first feature film called "The Waterhouse", a psychological horror-thriller, with Agam as the lead producer. The film is expected to release in late 2023 / early 2024.
Agam is an Associate Producer on Cold Meat, a survival thriller starring Downton Abbey star Allen Leech. The film is produced by Featuristic Films and will have its World Premiere at Fright Fest 2023. He is also an Executive Producer on Featuristic's feature documentary on Parkour inventor Sébastien Foucan. The film is being produced in association with Take The Shot Films and Ramaz Studios. Agam is building an impact-focused campaign to complement this film's underlying message about mental health, focus, determination and skills development.
Meanwhile, Take The Shot Films' noir-thriller "On the Edge of Darkness" is under development, together with "Fall From Grace", a female-centric Western.
As of August 2023, Agam is also co-writing a docu-series dedicated to exploring the meaning of happiness, which he will also be producing.
