Kabosu, the Shiba Inu who became an internet sensation as the doge meme, has passed away at the age of 18, according to owner Atsuko Sato.
Kabosu was one of the most recognizable and frequently used memes running. Stemming from a 2010 photo, the side-eyed look would become the symbol of “amaze” and “wow”, accentuated with multi-colored Comic Sans. Even though Kabosu was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, she surpassed the average lifespan of a Shiba Inu.
In her announcement, Atusko Sato wrote the following: “To all of you who loved Kabosu, On the morning of the 24th of May, Kabosu crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you all so much for your support over the years. She went very peacefully without suffering, as if falling asleep while feeling the warmth of my hands petting her. Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu all these years. I am certain that Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world.

It seems like most of America has grown tired of April Fools’ Day. Once upon a time, you couldn’t scroll a social media feed without finding dozens of your friends pregnant, married or cast in the latest Star Wars film. Then the corporations got involved — Krispy Kreme announced a donut theme park, a mattress company advertised a gorilla-inspired bed after the death of Harambe, Tesla promised self-driving cars — each a sadder joke than the last. Fortunately, Saturday Night Live may have breathed new life into the tradition.
Even if an episode of SNL is lousy, you probably stick around at least until Weekend Update.

Comedian Eric Andre and director Kitao Sakurai discuss the intricacies and mayhem that went into their new prank movie, Bad Trip, on the latest episode of Rolling Stone’s The Breakdown.
Andre explained that he’d been tinkering with Bad Trip off and on for years but finally started working on it in earnest after the success of the Jackass-affiliated flick, Bad Grandpa (Jeff Tremaine, one of the producers on Bad Grandpa, also produced Bad Trip). While the pranks were obviously the crux of the film, Andre and Sakurai...

Elon Musk has not forgotten about Harambe. That much is clear. The Tesla CEO dropped a surprise song called "Rip Harambe" on SoundClould under the account name Emo G Records. The album art (if you can call it that?) features Harambe memorialized in some ornate medallion with a crown on top of his head. At first, Musk did not say much about the song when he announced its debut on Twitter. In a subsequent tweet, however, he wrote, "I'm disappointed that my record label failed." There's still time! He could be Elon Musk: CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and record producer extraordinaire. The single "Rip Harambe" is just under two minutes long and is virtually all...

Elon Musk combined a Twitter joke, a years-old meme and Auto-Tune into a surprise new song called “Rip Harambe,” which the Tesla CEO uploaded onto SoundCloud this weekend.
“This might be my finest work,” the SpaceX boss said of the track, which he posted on his fictitious Emo G Records’ SoundCloud page between tweets about the Tesla Semi; Emo G is a play on emoji, a callback to a Musk joke from earlier in the weekend. “I’m disappointed that my record label failed,” he added.

Elon Musk appears to have gone from tech titan to SoundCloud rapper overnight -- assuming a goofy autotune track about Haramabe that he linked to is actually his doing. The Tesla CEO tweeted out a SoundCloud song Saturday called "Rip Harambe," which sent users to an Sc page ran by "Emo G Records." It's unclear if it's actually Elon's page, or if it's just something he stumbled upon, but he certainly made it seem he was behind it.

According to Apple, there are over half a million active podcasts. If you figure each one has one or two hosts at a minimum, that means there are more podcast hosts than residents of San Francisco. Imagine walking up and down the hills of San Francisco with each person — techies, homeless and military-grade, backflipping AI robots alike — asking you to listen to their podcast. No one could possibly consume all the content this fictional Podcast City exports, but we wanted to dig in and see if we could pull out...
