Sauron’s rise in Season 2 of “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will begin August 29 when the new installment of Amazon Prime Video’s fantasy series based on J.R.R. Tolkien IP arrives on the streamer. Prime Video released a teaser trailer and behind-the-scenes featurette Monday. Based on parts of Tolkien’s posthumous “The Silmarillion,” the series has a planned arc of five seasons.

Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

Bridgerton‘s third season may not arrive for a few months, but fans are already busy theorizing which characters will be back for the latest chapter in Netflix‘s Shondaland hit based on Julia Quinn’s novels. While Season 3 will center around the romance between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), fans can’t help but wonder if Season 2’s Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch) might return after playing a key role in Eloise’s (Claudia Jessie) storyline. The character created for the show worked at the print shop where Lady Whistledown (a.k.a. Penelope) was printing her gossip sheet. As Eloise investigated the mystery, she struck up a friendship that grew seemingly romantic as the season progressed, but the characters left things in an uncertain place by the end of Season 2. Considering Theo isn’t a character plucked from the pages of Quinn’s books, his...

Fittingly for a series in which everybody seems to be engaging in some form of Classic Hollywood cosplay, the Rosebud moment in BritBox’s Archie is delivered by an actor playing comedy icon Danny Kaye.
Affecting a stereotypical German therapist accent — accents on top of accents on top of accents is the Archie way — Kaye cautions young Dyan Cannon (Laura Aikman) that her relationship with the more seasoned Cary Grant (Jason Isaacs) is destined for complications with the warning, “Men who have difficult relationships with their mothers always carry it over to the women that they love.”
There’s no reason for Kaye to make such an observation if he hasn’t been watching the two previous hours of Jeff Pope’s four-episode production. But for the series’ actual audience, his analysis will come across as both obvious and superficial — a bit like Archie itself.
Ultimately, it’s a bit more complicated than that.

Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets”) will star in and executive produce “Sweetpea,” a female driven original drama series from pay TV operator Sky.
The series is adapted from C.J. The origin of one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars is a story stranger than fiction.
Cary Grant, who appeared in movies including “To Catch a Thief” opposite Grace Kelly, was born Archibald Leach in 1904 to an abusive father in the sleepy city of Bristol, England. While he was a child, Grant’s mother was secretly committed to a mental health hospital and publicly declared dead. The actor only found out she was still alive when he was 31 years old.
Grant is now the subject of “Archie,” a four-part biopic from “Philomena” writer Jeff Pope, made with the cooperation of his ex-wife Dyan Cannon and daughter Jennifer Grant. The series charts the actor’s rise to fame, his struggle with his demons and his relationships with the most important women in his life.

In recent weeks Amazon has released a flurry of casting news for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season two. We have names of 15 actors who will join the Middle Earth cast: Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, Nicholas Woodeson, Sam Hazeldine, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, and Calam Lynch. But details about their roles are scarce.
The only specific character information that accompanied the casting updates was the shocking news that Hazeldine (“Peaky Blinders”) will be taking over the role of orc-daddy Adar from Joseph Mawle. With showrunner Patrick McKay previously teasing elder elf (and ring bearer) Cirdan the Shipwright arriving next season, that still leaves 13 new roles shrouded in mystery.

Like information offered by the elves, Prime Video is drip-feeding the information on the new faces who will be joining Morfydd Clark,
Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charlie Vickers and the rest in the new season of The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power. On the heels of last week's announcement, here's the latest news: Kevin Eldon, Calam Lynch, Selina Lo, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb and Will Keen are all in the show.
Of course, in keeping with the news so far, we have zero information on who the newcomers will be playing, so start your own guessing now. Though if we're honestly, we're hoping Eldon shows up as this guy.
The team behind The Rings Of Power is busily filming season 2 now, and that should be on our screens in 2024.

Following the jaw-dropping Season 2 “Bridgerton” finale, we can’t help but wonder which sibling will feel the sting (See what we did there?) of love come Season 3.
[Editor’s Note: A spoiler alert, of sorts. The below recaps the book “An Offer From A Gentleman,” which will reportedly be the inspiration for Season 3.]
1. Where Did Season 2 Leave Off?
The eight-episode second season concluded with Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) reveling in bliss with Kate (Simone Ashley). Yet things proved to be a little more dramatic for his sister, Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who finally figured out that her best friend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) is behind the salacious Lady Whistledown gossip rag. Eloise’s secret friendship with printer assistant Theo (Calam Lynch) was also shattered, and while we’ll have to wait until the fifth season — per the order of Julia Quinn’s novels on which the Shonda Rhimes-produced series is based — to see Eloise find love,...

Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review on “Benediction,” the biography film of Siegfried Sassoon, a prominent early 20th Century poet who lived his life as a closeted gay man … a somber kick-off to Pride Month. In select theaters, see local listings for theaters and show times.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
This is an unconventional bio as Sassoon became one of Britain’s leading poets in part due to his protest and honor poems after serving as a decorated soldier in World War One. He also was a closeted gay man, evolving through a number of influential relationships including Wilfred Owen (Matthew Tennyson) and Calam Lynch (Stephen Tennant). Later, he married Hester (Kate Phillips) and converted to the Catholic faith in his older age, while at the same time negotiating his relationship with son George (Richard Goulding).
”Benediction” is in select theaters beginning June 3rd. Featuring Jack Lowden, Peter Capaldi, Kate Phillips,...

Most biopics are thuddingly prosaic: There’s a lot of “this happened, then that happened,” performed by a famous person covering themselves in latex in an attempt to resemble another famous person.
In the hands of British auteur Terence Davies, however, biopics can be poetry, although his choice of subject matter probably helps in that department. On the heels of his gorgeous and contemplative “A Quiet Passion,” about the life of Emily Dickinson, he returns with another passionately quiet portrait, this time exploring Siegfried Sassoon in “Benediction.”
It’s an impressionistic collage, and Davies skillfully jumps from the 1910s to the 1960s and back again. “Benediction” fleetingly encapsulates the horrors of WWI — Sassoon went from being a decorated soldier to an outspoken critic against those who would prolong the conflict — the shadow-world of British gay men in the decades before homosexuality was decriminalized in the UK, and the bitterness of...

English filmmaker Terence Davies, from painting working-class portraits to sketching urbane artistic figures like Emily Dickinson, has long been public about his discomfort with being gay and his feelings of banality toward life in general. He’s not an especially hopeful storyteller, from the closeted anguish of a Liverpool boy in “The Long Day Closes” to the suicidal Hester Collyer’s unquenchable thirst for passion in “The Deep Blue Sea.”
His pessimistic but searching sensibilities, always hungering for a redemption or answer that can’t be found and then resigning to that lack, find their purest expression in “Benediction.” The riotously well-penned but deeply despairing film is a portrait of World War I-era English poet Siegfried Sassoon, who lived a comfortably gay shadow life on the fringes of the Bright Young Things, settled into marriage in middle age, and died a late-minted Catholic, bereft, in 1967. He outlived many of his peers,...

As Theo Sharpe, Calam Lynch made a big impression not only on Eloise Bridgerton during “Bridgerton” Season 2, but on the Netflix show’s viewers, who loved seeing the lower-class printer’s apprentice and the Lady of the ton start to fall for each other. As they bonded over literature, new ideas and her hunt to uncover who was behind Lady Whistledown, the pair grew close. Sadly, though for those invested in #Theoloise (Theo + Eloise), due to a Whistledown column and a warning chat from her best friend Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), Eloise broke things off with Theo just before we all had another romance to root for in Season 2.
But, as “Bridgerton” creator and showrunner for Season 1 and 2, Chris Van Dusen, previously told TheWrap, “I think some work has definitely been done this season to set Eloise up for future seasons and I think Theo’s very much a part of that.

The relationship between Eloise and Theo in “Bridgerton” Season 2 might not be over.
That’s one of the hints TheWrap got when we spoke with “Bridgerton” creator and executive producer Chris Van Dusen last month about all the big moments in the finale episode, including why the writers gave Eloise (Claudia Jessie) a love interest in Theo (Calam Lynch) — something that doesn’t happen in the books.
“Why did you want her to sort of be able to experience a proper crush and some real chemistry with a bright young man of another class?” The Wrap asked.
“I think, you know, it was time for Eloise,” he responded (you can read more from that interview here). “And like I’ve said before, and as I think everyone suspected, she was going to have no interest in these debutante balls and putting on these incredibly restrictive ball gowns and going out...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Season 2 of Bridgerton.] Bridgerton Season 2 may have been all about Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley), but he’s not the only Bridgerton family member igniting sparks this time around. Younger sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie) connected with printer’s assistant Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch) and paid the social price when her secret meetings with him were revealed in Lady Whistledown’s scandal sheet. While Eloise and Theo debated over social issues and their vast differences in regard to their classes, it was hard to deny their chemistry. It was a surprising turn for viewers as Theo is an original character created for the series and as he doesn’t play within the bounds of author Julia Quinn’s source material, it’s difficult to see where his character might lead. Eloise initially meets Theo on her hunt for Whistledown, before she discovers it’s her best friend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Season 2 of Bridgerton.] Bridgerton went big in Season 2, so big that one of the ton’s biggest secrets became slightly less so as Eloise (Claudia Jessie) learned something major in the finale’s final moments. The second-eldest Bridgerton daughter discovered that her bestie and closest confidante, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) was none other than mysterious scandal sheet writer, Lady Whistledown. Cue the Regency-era gasps! After Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) began snooping for answers about Lady Whistledown’s true identity, Eloise came under fire due to her consistent trips to the print shop where she’d actually been meeting up with printer’s assistant Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch). Seeing her friend under the Queen’s magnifying glass, Penelope decided to out her friend’s secret meetings with Theo to avert Charlotte’s attention. (Credit: Netflix) Deciding to put her quill away, Penelope believes Eloise is done searching for Whistledown, knowing it will only ...

Regé-Jean Page may not return as Simon Basset in "Bridgerton" season two, but we have a new handsome character to pine over in his absence. The Netflix show's second installment introduces Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch), an apprentice at the printing shop where Lady Whistledown prints her gossip papers. He's an intellectual, working-class man with a keen interest in women's rights, which leads him to form a bond with Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie). Though Eloise is fiercely independent and tends to avoid suitors altogether, their friendship becomes increasingly romantic, showing a softer side to her character.
Eloise and Theo first cross paths in episode two when the former stumbles upon the latter's print shop while investigating Lady Whistledown's identity, unaware that the infamous storyteller is actually her best friend, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). Their initial exchange is ridden with sharp wit and banter, and they meet...
