Before starring on One Tree Hill for nine seasons, star James Lafferty says he was close to walking away from acting.
In an interview with People published Friday, the actor reflected on spending his childhood in the “acting game” that eventually led to the Oth opportunity. “I started when I was really young and I was auditioning by the time I was 10 and working my way up through smaller roles to get the opportunity to do something like this,” Lafferty said.
While visiting the Warner Bros. offices, Lafferty recalled seeing photos of the cast of Dawson’s Creek thinking, “Oh man, it’d be so cool to be up there someday.”
“When I got the audition for One Tree Hill — when I got the script it was originally called Ravens — and the role was a basketball player and he had an edge to him,” he recalls. “And it was just an...

Over the course of a dozen years, Andrew Garfield has collected four Golden Globe nominations in as many different categories. Immediately after taking the 2022 Best Film Comedy/Musical Actor prize for “tick, tick… Boom!” he is now up for Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actor as the star of Hulu’s “Under the Banner of Heaven.” Although many performers have been honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for both big and small screen work before, his inclusion on the list would be groundbreaking because he would be the first man to ever accomplish the feat within a one-year period.
“Under the Banner of Heaven” marks Garfield’s return to TV acting following his last appearance in all three parts of the 2009 British program “Red Riding.” The new series is based on Jon Krakauer’s nonfiction book of the same name, which delves into the Utah v. Lafferty double murder...

AMC, the network behind The Walking Dead (and its many spin-offs) and the upcoming Anne Rice-inspired shows Interview with the Vampire and The Mayfair Witches, has now opened a writers room for a series called Seconds, which Deadline hears is a “radical reimagining” of the 1960s sci-fi horror story. Seconds originated with a novel written by David Ely (pick up a copy Here), and in 1966 Ely’s story was brought to the screen with a film that was directed by John Frankenheimer and stars Rock Hudson. You can watch the film Seconds, which is in the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry selection, at This Link.
AMC’s take on Seconds is coming to us from creator / executive producer / showrunner Mark Lafferty, who worked as a writer and supervising producer on the AMC show Halt and Catch Fire. Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, who were also executive producers on Halt and Catch Fire,...
