Optioned and award-winning screenwriter, Bonnie Maffei has acted as judge at the NYC Midnight Short Screenplay and Short Story Challenges, the Electric City Film Schenectady Script Competition and the Cincinnati Film Festival. Honors include Official Selection at L.A. International Screenplay Awards, Official Selection at the Vancouver Women in Film Festival, and four awards at the Moondance International Film Festival.
She was recently awarded a scholarship to Ron Marz's 4-week "Comic Book Writing" class and is in the process of writing graphic novels, or as some like to call them, comic books.
Bonnie holds the Master Screenwriter Certificate from Hal Croasmun's ScreenwritingU and was awarded a scholarship to attend the February 2020 SU Career Launch Event in Burbank, California, an empowering networking retreat with other writers and film industry professionals.
Bonnie's Sci-Fi Fantasy TV series, "Camille Leon: Chameleon Girl" and a concept titled "Letters to Leonardo" were work-shopped with Bryan Delaney and the talented group of writers and filmmakers at the Fall 2019 Nostos Writers Retreat in Tuscany. A scene from Bonnie's Comedy Horror screenplay, "Becoming Picasso" sprung to life when visiting acting students from Florence acted out the roles during the retreat. This multi-award-winning script is in development with producer / investor, Nuala Quinn-Barton at Mania Entertainment, Beverly Hills, California.
Maffei studied Eurythmy, a dynamic art of movement developed by Rudolf Steiner, at the Schule fur Eurythmishe Art and Kunst in Berlin, Germany, as well as Therapeutic Eurythmy, a healing art, in London, England, receiving two diplomas from The Goetheanum in Switzerland. She is also an accomplished painter and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from SJSU, San Jose State University, California. She's taught art, Eurythmy and writing in Rudolf Steiner schools, Camphill schools and adult communities for the developmentally disabled, and given countless public workshops around the world for over 25 years.
