The annual fall weekend of music in Atlanta known at ATLive has announced the genres and lineup of this October’s event: Grupo Firme headline a night of Latin music on October 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and George Strait tops the bill of a country music showcase on October 21.
While the Grammy-winning band Grupo Firme are atop the lineup on Friday, it’s the appearance of J Balvin, one of the top-selling Latin artists, that is especially noteworthy. Balvin has rarely toured since postponing his 2022 tour due to “unforeseen production challenges” stemming from the pandemic.

When the Puerto Rican singer Omar Courtz was a teenager, he spent some time working at a clothing store in the city of Carolina that became popular among reggaeton stars. He’d see some of his biggest inspirations coming in and out of the shop, which was called Change: people like Farruko, Anuel Aa, and Ozuna. Years later, when he started making music, he wound up collaborating with a few of those same artists. “I was like, ‘I used to be your attendant at that store!’” recalls Courtz, 25.

The Dominican star Chimbala is known for his unmistakable brand of energetic, adrenaline-fueled dembow, but he’s also proven his versatility with more pop-driven fare. His latest track “Déjate Ver” is one example that shows off a more romantic, vulnerable side of the artist. The song, as he tells Rolling Stone, is a deeply personal one that “celebrates love: my love towards my culture, my fans, my music and my country.”
The video, directed by Starlyn Javier, is playful and lighthearted, following Chimbala before he proposes to his girlfriend on a beach.

Rauw Alejandro has been known to spin off in unexpected directions. The Puerto Rican star, recognized for his quick-footed, anti-gravity choreography, has danced his way through a dizzying mix of genres: Risque, racy raps on his two-part EP Trap Cake, thudding old-school reggaeton on Afrodisiaco. Last year’s Vice Versa was his biggest triumph yet, a sharp sophomore effort that somersaulted between pop, drum ‘n’ bass, and Brazilian funke while delivering the mammoth hit “Todo De Ti,” which is nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year...

Partway Through Farruko’S set, the stage at Miami’s Ftx Arena turned into a pulpit.
On a mild night in February, the Puerto Rican artist had been standing at the center of the nearly 20,000-person venue, a tangle of flashing lights and smoke-cannon explosions blaring behind him. Fans screamed along as he sang some of his biggest hits, like the 2021 party anthem “La Tóxica,” plus other tracks from his deeply personal 2021 album, La 167. In between, Farruko talked directly to the audience, telling them he’d been striving to become a changed man.
