Best known for his psychological short films, Riley Rutter is an upcoming writer-director from Kirkland, Washington. Over the course of 8 years of filmmaking, Rutter has gone from no-budget home videos to working on gripping and compelling narrative productions.
At 10 years old, Rutter began making home movies with his father's phone camera. While attending Juanita High School, he shot multiple short films with a mirrorless digital camera, where he learned the storytelling and technical techniques that would aid him in developing Steadfast (2023), his first fully-developed short film. The psychological mystery thriller was noted as ambitious and gripping. Rutter developed the film with storytellers Micah Berkompas, Nessa Olivar, and Erik Straka over a summer camp of that year.
Rutter frequently collaborates with his childhood friend and associate producer, Parker Jones. Riley owns a self-titled entertainment production and distribution studio, Rutter Studios.
Rutter continues to develop stories and work in the freelance video editing industry in order to gain more experience and grow his portfolio.
