CNN has paid Don Lemon $24.5 million in order to settle his separation deal nearly 10 months after he was fired for his sexist remarks about Nikki Haley.
The comments that Lemon made on CNN This Morning on February 16 enraged his co-anchors, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, who then went into the bathroom. This controversy started with a proposal Haley made during her presidential announcement speech about instituting a mental competency test for politicians who are over 75 years old.
“This whole talk about age makes me uncomfortable,” Lemon shared. “I think it’s the wrong road to go down. She says people, you know, politicians are suddenly not in their prime. Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. A woman is considered to be in their prime in [their] the 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
“That’s not according to me,” he then said after Harlow responded in shock. “It’s like,...

When Kevin Hart tells you to “stop being a bitch,” you listen. “He was like, ‘Put the grind in. Put the hustle in,’” says Druski, a viral comedian known for racking up millions of views on his made-for-social sketches. “‘Do the hard work, do the stand-up.’” But even though this legend of the craft was telling him how to advance his career, it wasn’t for him.

Super Bowl Lviii is in the books, and with the big game comes the big game TV spots for upcoming anticipated films. Viewers were able to get a peek at trailers for Kung Fu Panda 4, Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked, If, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Twisters and more. In addition to movie ads, Super Bowl commercials would feature traditional cameos from various notable names. In a T-Mobile ad, the cast of Suits would reunite along with several other appearances by Academy Award hopeful Bradley Cooper, Common, Donald Faison and Zach Braff. State Farm pulled out a big gun with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in a fictional action movie and playing on his accent in a joke that resembled a classic Simpsons gag.

Dunkin Donuts aired a star-studded commercial during the Super Bowl on Sunday, which obviously means Ben Affleck graced our television screens.
In the ad, Jennifer Lopez is recording in the studio with her bedazzled, reusable Dunkin Donuts. In the opening scene, Affleck is sitting in a car with Jack Harlow and tells him his plan to show up to his wife’s recording session. “She came to my work, now I have to show her what I can do,” he says to Harlow, who looks skeptical at best.

Ben Affleck is starring in another Super Bowl commercial this year, and he brought some famous friends: his wife Jennifer Lopez, his Bff Matt Damon, Tom Brady, Fat Joe and Jack Harlow in an ad for Dunkin’.
During the spot, Affleck tries to start a music career with some help from Harlow and Damon — Brady acts as his DJ. His wife Lopez and Fat Joe watch his first performance as one of the “The DunKings” in horror.
The coffee company, which employs Affleck as an official brand ambassador, teased the ad earlier in the week in a shorter spot online, titled “Voice of Reason.”
This marks the second year in a row that Affleck and Dunkin’ have partnered for a Super Bowl commercial. Last year, the company put the actor behind the drive-thru window to surprise unsuspecting customers when they pulled up to the window to retrieve their orders. Lopez...

Set in a pre-#metoo era, Oz girl-band drama “Paper Dolls” has been realized by an all female filmmaker team shedding light on this darker era for women in the music industry.
Former MTV Australia chief Mark Fennessy executive produced the 8-part scripted drama for Paramount + through his two-year-old banner Helium. eOne is launching international sales at Mipcom this week.
As well as empowering women filmmakers in Australia, the production shows what Fennessy is currently dedicated to – creating premium Australian content and finding the resources to take it to the next level to compete internationally with its rival Anglo markets.
“The feedback from buyers I’ve spoken to pre-Mipcom has been really strong,” said the veteran Australian television executive who is readying several other projects for the streamers in Australia, as well as Season 2 of the hit “Last King of the Cross” for Paramount +.

Mickey Mouse is going to Washington. According to a report from Axios, the Walt Disney Company (ABC), alongside such media giants as Paramount Global (CBS), Fox Corp (Fox), NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Discovery, Univision, Fubo, and Roku are forming their own advocacy group, hoping to persuade the Federal Communications Commission not to change rules that govern how local broadcasters negotiate with streaming platforms.
The group calls itself the “Preserve Viewer Choice Coalition,” which was organized in part to counter the efforts of the Coalition for Local News, which first launched in mid-July. The disagreement between the two coalitions stems from a provision enacted in 2014 that compels cable and satellite providers to negotiate carriage fees directly with the owners of local broadcast stations —companies like Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcasting Group. A loophole in that provision means that virtual multi-channel video-programming distributors (vMVPDs), also known as live TV streaming services, are not forced to go to local broadcasters,...

A memorable scene from Ron Shelton’s 1992 hoops comedy White Men Can’t Jump finds a playground baller (played by former NBA great Marques Johnson) fuming after he falls victim to a hustle. First the big guy pulls out a razor. Then he decides he needs something a little stronger, so he heads to his car to retrieve his gun – at which point everyone scrambles madly for the exits. Based on a real-life chapter of basketball lore, the moment is both scary (perhaps even more so now, when all public space...

Boy, the hits keep on coming for CNN’s semi-new CEO Chris Licht — and we don’t mean the network’s lineup.
CNN just notched its lowest ratings in nine years across all its day parts for the week of Jan. 16 through Jan. 22, 2023, according to Nielsen averaging just 444,000 viewers in primetime, 93,000 in the all-important age 25-54 news demographic and 417,000 in viewers and 80,000 in the demo for total day. It’s the first time since May 2014 that the network failed to reach 450,000 viewers.
By comparison, during the same period Fox News drew 1.4 million viewers and 176,000 in the demo while MSNBC notched 629,000 total viewers and 69,000 in the demo. In primetime, Fox News had 2 million viewers, 256,000 in the demo and MSNBC had 943,000 viewers and 91,000 in the demo.

When “Black Panther” hair department head Camille Friend and makeup department head Joel Harlow reunited to work on the film’s blockbuster sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” the first challenge they had to meet was literally all wet. Because the new film introduces Talokan to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the undersea kingdom ruled by Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejia), Friend and Harlow had to figure out how to make sure their hair and makeup work could withstand the underwater conditions – a complication some productions no doubt would’ve just worked around.
“A lot of films, when you end up shooting underwater stuff, it’s dry for wet,” Harlow tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview. “This wasn’t. This was wet for wet. And even when the actors are out of the water, they’re still wet – you don’t come out of the water and you’re suddenly dry.

Every Grammy year brings intense discourse, and part of it is usually centered around those Wtf picks that most people weren’t expecting. While most of them can be explained logically, it is still wild to see one or two expected nominees take a hit for a song or album that seemed to come out of nowhere. With that in mind, here are five shocking nominations from this year’s eclectic list.
Bonnie Raitt, “Just Like That” (Song of the Year)
Perhaps the most head-scratching addition to the Song of the Year lineup to most people was Bonnie Raitt’s “Just Like That.” Once you listen to the song, though, it’s clear why it has such a devoted following: it’s a captivating storytelling-based song about loss and faith written by Raitt herself. The song is not only very emotional, it also marks Raitt’s return to music: it...

Lil Nas X has protested often and loudly about being excluded from the nominations for the BET Awards, and his friend and “Industry Baby” collaborator Jack Harlow made his own silent statement on the show’s red carpet Sunday by rocking a Lil Nas T-shirt.
At the time of this article’s publication, it was not clear whether or not Harlow had commented on the carpet, but he has already been on the receiving end of substantial criticism for being a white rapper nominated for BET awards, so silent protest may have been the safest path.
Harlow’s label slyly serviced the red-carpet photo, noting that Harlow’s shoes and pants were by Givenchy but did not mention the Nas shirt.
