Jeffrey Dean Morgan isn’t having it with “The Walking Dead” fans who are criticizing Melissa McBride’s exit from the upcoming spinoff about her character’s friendship with fellow fan favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).
“Some of you have gone Way too far,” Morgan wrote on Twitter Thursday. “Toxic. Attacking norm for crap he has Nothing to do with? Melissa made a call that was hers alone. She wants/needs a break. Respect that. Factors involved that are nobody’s business. Norm, who’s given more than anyone to you all. Just Shitty.”
The series was set to film in Europe this summer. In its statement, AMC wrote that relocating was “logistically untenable for Melissa at this time” and therefore she was “no longer able to participate” in the series.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan took to social media to say that some “The Walking Dead” fans have “gone way too far” with toxic outrage over the news that Melissa McBride will no longer star in the planned Carol-Daryl spinoff with Norman Reedus. McBride’s exit was announced April 27. The actor has played Carol since the first season of AMC’s flagship zombie drama. McBride exited the spinoff because relocating to Europe to shoot the series proved “logistically untenable” for her, AMC said in a statement.

Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival will present its 39th annual edition from March 4-13, featuring a mix of in-theater and virtual presentations. With more than 120 films from 35 countries on display, ranging from features to documentaries to shorts, the event will be filled with premieres and special screenings and events.
“Last year we did the hybrid event, with reduced capacity and no parties and limited guests. But this year, we’re back to a normal festival,” says executive director and co-director of programming, Jaie Laplante. “Covid has helped us figure out what we value the most with the festival, and how we reach our ultimate mission, which is to connect art and artists with the audience.”
The festival opens with Fernando León de Aranoa’s Spanish comedy “The Good Boss,” and closes with Abner Benaim’s Panamanian drama “Plaza Catedral,” both films were shortlisted for the international film Oscar.

“Glocal” is the key word for the Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival as the annual event provides a platform for both local and global projects. Of the 93 international submissions to the Oscars, the Florida fest has picked seven films “that moved us and that would speak powerfully to our Miami audience,” says festival executive director Jaie Laplante, who leads a selection committee alongside programming co-director, Lauren Cohen.
“We’ve always thought it important to look out for films by female directors but it wasn’t at all difficult this year,” says Cohen about the festival’s lineup, which includes nearly 100 shorts and features from some 40 countries.
This year’s 38th edition, which takes place March 5-14, and for the first time in its history, runs before the Oscars, includes international film shortlisted contenders “La Llorona,” “Sun Children,” “Quo Vadis, Aida?,” “Charlatan,” “The Mole Agent” and “Night of the Kings.

The zombie apocalypse that took hold of TV in 2010 was very, very good for Steven Yeun.
To say that “The Walking Dead” was Yeun’s breakout role would be an understatement so powerful it could reanimate a corpse.
Yeun had a handful of onscreen credits to his name before he was cast in the AMC series in the role of Glenn Rhee. The character immediately proved to be pivotal to the series, as he was the one who initially rescued Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes from zombies in the show’s second episode, which made the character part of the group that formed the core of the series.
Though Glenn was just a pizza delivery guy prior to the events of the series, he quickly became a fan favorite after he demonstrated a willingness to risk his life to protect others. It also did not hurt he got to star...

After we bid farewell to fan-favorite characters Rick and Maggie on AMC’s “The Walking Dead“, it appears that we will soon be bidding farewell to yet another of our beloved characters, as actress Danai Gurira, has revealed that she has plans to leave the series after season 10!
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Danai Gurira – who plays the badass Michonne in the series – will be gradually quitting the show over the course of the next season, just commissioned by the AMC network. The actress has already signed a new deal for the coming episodes, guaranteeing a minimum number of appearances in Season 10.
Gurira has signed a contract that is similar to actress Lauren Cohen leaving herself open to the possibility of making a few guest return spots in future episodes of the series. This could also mean that she could be making an appearance in the upcoming films that...

Maggie followed Rick off “The Walking Dead”— but could Lauren Cohan also be following Andrew Lincoln with a series of “Twd” spinoff movies? It’s a possibility, Lauren Cohen told reporters at ABC’s Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday. “There may have been some conversations,” she teased. “But everything is so early-days, ambiguous. We’ll have to see what happens.” The...

Filmmaking is perhaps the greatest collaborative artform in the modern world. It may take a village to raise a child, but it certainly takes an army to bring a film to the big screen. Despite the illusory apex of the auteur the very best filmmakers are those who embrace the ensemble, both in front of and behind the camera. Just as any artist will search the creative landscape for their muse, so too have film directors discovered leading actors with whom they spark, creating something truly special together.
Johns Wayne and Ford made soulful, searching epics together, the many films of Akira Kurosawa would have been far less luminous had he never met and cast the great Toshirô Mifune. When Pedro Almodóvar met Penélope Cruz did they know what cinematic electricity would fly when she appeared in front of his camera? Maybe not. But it is these collaborations between the...

Updated: ABC is going all-in on freshman drama series A Million Little Things with a Thursday 9 Pm slot for the rest of its first season. Meanwhile, after two installments in the fall — regular and junior — the network’s reality stalwart Dancing with the Stars will be taking a break. It is not on ABC’s midseason schedule for the first time ever but is expected to return next fall. The reason — American Idol. Last season, ABC aired a special Bachelor installment as a counter-programming to the Winter Olympics and an abbreviated athletes edition of Dancing, which did not debut until April 30..
This time around, The Bachelor will be running through March 11 in Dancing‘s Monday slot. Idol will premiere its second season on Sunday, March 3, and is expected to add a Monday installment on March 18. It will lead to new drama The Fix, which will succeed The Good Doctor in...

And just like that, the wind has been effectively taken out of The Walking Dead's sails.
That's not to say that The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 7 was a bad installment, but given the quality this season has churned out, I expected much better. "Stradavarius" just wasn't what you would have expected going into the midseason finale. And as a result, it often felt sluggish and unfocused.
Simply put, it just didn't feel up to par with the rest of the season.
The Walking Dead has run into this rut in the past when it's tried to focus on multiple storylines simultaneously, and unfortunately, the pacing of hours like these always take a hit.
While it's safe to say that most of us have lowered our expectations of The Walking Dead over the last few seasons, I believe that's part of the reason why The Walking Dead Season 9 has been so impressive.

Mile 22 is perhaps the least sentimental action film of the decade. Any whiff of internal conflict is undercut by an “Are you done with this yet? We have real shit to do” reaction. This sounds like an exhausting, masculist machine existing just to be the antithesis of the “weepy, uncool” action film, but The Two Bergs (director Peter Berg and star Mark Walhberg) commit to the idea so wholeheartedly that it is able to bypass initial concerns, and instead become something else. The result is at times quite thrilling, and clocking in at 90 minutes, refreshingly concise.
The fourth collaboration of The Bergs follows an elite CIA task force, whose modus operandi includes leaving their fallen behind if necessary, so that there’s quite literally no time for character turmoil or second-guessing. Despite thinking otherwise, there are a few “quiet” moments together, with solid three-minute stretches for conversation in the...

Here’s the newest effort from another prolific actor/director film making duo. While some directors have a group of actors they repeatedly work with (on stage I guess they’d be the “rep” company), other directors like to cast the same actor in several of their projects. From the “golden age of Hollywood’ there were duos like John Huston with Humphrey Bogart, and John Ford and John Wayne. In the late seventies Martin Scorsese’s lead of choice was Robert DeNiro, while in recent years Leonardo DiCaprio has been a frequent lead. With Steven Spielberg it’s Tom Hanks (after many flicks with Richard Dreyfuss and Harrison Ford). Now in theatres is the fourth collaboration of actor/director Peter Berg and lead actor Mark Wahlberg. Their previous team-ups were all based on true events: Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriot’S Day. Now they’ve made a go-for-broke, fictional,...

Exclusive: Norman Reedus will be taking the stage at Comic-Con today with his compatriots from The Walking Dead, but the actor will also be taking it to the big screen with STXfilms in the not so distant future.
Reedus and the Adam Fogelson-run division of Stx Entertainment have inked a deal to develop a genre feature for the Ride host to both star in and produce, I’ve learned.
Much like the agreements that STXfilms put together with Jason Statham and Guardians of the Galaxy’s David Bautista earlier this year and late last year respectively, the project will be specifically tailored to play to Reedus’ established and not inconsiderable audience of Twd viewers and beyond.
“Norman has steadily built up a devoted fan following across movies and television with memorable performances,” STXfilms chairman Fogelson told me of the project. “Stx is thrilled to collaborate with Norman on this...

If there’s one issue that’s plagued the last few seasons of The Walking Dead, it’s that the audience has very little concept of the time that’s passed for our characters. Case in point: the long-suffering Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohen), who’s seemingly omni-pregnant. Well, until now, that is.
The season 6 premiere revealed that Maggie was with child and by the time that season 8’s war against the Saviors came to a climax, she wasn’t so much as a little queasy in the morning, nevermind showing a baby bump. The first official promo image for the upcoming run though, which can be seen below, reveals that quite a bit of time has passed since season 8’s conclusion, in what appears to match The Walking Dead comics in terms of a time jump.

It was revealed this week that there’s going to be a new sheriff in town for the upcoming ninth season of The Walking Dead. Reports emerged that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, the once-reluctant group leader, will only appear in six episodes of the new season before departing for good and as such, there’s now speculation that he’s about to go the same way as his son, Coral – sorry, Carl – and bite the dust

When you have Peter Berg directing a film with Mark Wahlberg, you usually get a pretty good film. Well that’s the hope for STXfilms with the upcoming Peter Berg directed film, Mile 22. STXfilms released a the first official trailer for the film which stars Mark Wahlberg, Walking Dead‘s Lauren Cohen, veteran actor John Malkovich, martial artist Iko Uwais, and the former Ufc fighter turned WWE superstar Ronda Rousey.

Season 9 of AMC’s The Walking Dead is beginning to take shape. And fast.
Ever since production kicked off late last month, both Andrew Lincoln and Black Panther‘s Danai Gurira have been spotted on the streets of Atlanta (where it’s shooting) multiple times over, with numerous set pics hitting the web over the past couple of weeks. But today’s batch of photos are perhaps the most interesting ones we’ve had yet, as they show Lincoln’s fearless survivor, Rick Grimes, with a crazy new weapon. One which actually kind of resembles Negan’s Lucille.
As you’ll see in the gallery down below, he’s got some sort of club with him, which has pointed spikes on its end. How he got his hands on it or what exactly it’ll be used for remains to be seen, of course, but you can bet that this...
