Jimmy Kimmel will be returning to front the 95th Oscars in 2023, marking the talk show host’s third time presenting the ceremony.
Kimmel first hosted the awards in 2017, the year that La La Land was mistakenly announced as the Best Picture winner over Moonlight, the true winner. The second time he hosted was in 2018.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live host’s return was announced by Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, the executive producers and showrunners of the Academy Awards.
“Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honour or a trap,” Kimmel said in a statement. “Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
Last year, the event was hosted by trio Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall, with Apple TV movie Coda winning Best Picture.

Oh, The Ick – how we love you. What a convenient way to express the depths of irrational disgust and horror people can feel at basic human behaviour. How did we explain the sudden gut feeling that a person you were once attracted to is now not only unattractive but actively repulsive, before The Ick?
For several years now, The Ick has taken over the internet and girls’ minds. It first took hold as many contemporary dating concepts do: via Love Island. While describing things as “icky” has, of course, long signalled disgust, it was the brain of one-time contestant Olivia Attwood that brought us The Ick. Since she used the term in 2017, every subsequent series has only implanted the concept deeper into the collective psyche. Indeed, Love Island and the idea of The Ick have become so synonymous that it has already emerged in this year’s Winter Love Island,...

Jill Scott has been crowned the winner of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!’s 2022 series.
The result was announced by presenters Ant and Dec at the end of Sunday night’s episode.
Following the departure of Mike Tindall one day previously, three contestants had been left competing in the final episode: ex-England footballer Jill Scott, actor Owen Warner and disgraced Tory MP Matt Hancock.
The MP was revealed as the third-place finisher earlier in the programme after viewers saw the trio take part in three final Bushtucker Trials.
After an exit interview with the hosts, Hancock reunited with his girlfriend Gina Coladangelo on the bridge with a kiss and a hug.
Hancock’s involvement in the ITV reality series had been the main talking point for a series that saw production return to the Australian jungle after two Covid-struck years in Gwrych Castle, Wales.

I’m a Celebrity viewers have been left unimpressed after Boy George secretly ate an extra banana without consulting his fellow campmates.
During Tuesday’s (22 November) episode, viewers saw the immediate aftermath of Sue Cleaver’s departure, as seen live on Monday’s edition.
When the Coronation Street actor exited the camp, she left behind a banana.
After spotting the extra piece of fruit, Boy George decided to take it for himself to eat in private.
“I had a banana last night and then obviously Sue left this morning and there was an extra one, so I took it and I ate it and I hid the skin in my pocket so I wouldn’t get caught,” the Culture Club singer admitted to camera, before laughing.
Later, Jill Scott and Owen Warner noticed a discrepancy in the banana count and questioned Boy George.
“You had one last night and one this morning?...

Matt Hancock’s presence on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has sparked 1,968 Ofcom complaints – but for two quite different reasons.
The broadcasting watchdog received the complaints between Tuesday 8 November (the day Hancock arrived) and Monday 14 November.
The majority of complainants, around 1,100, objected simply to the fact that the former health secretary is appearing on the show. Other viewers expressed concerns about how the MP is being treated by the other contestants.
A statement from Ofcom said: “It’s worth being aware that under our rules, in principle – and taking into account freedom of expression – there’s no ban on any particular person taking part in programmes.
“However, if the mere presence of a person is likely to cause offence, we would expect broadcasters to take steps to mitigate or justify that offence.
“How they do that editorially, is up to them.”
The Independent has contacted ITV for comment.

Paralympic athlete Hollie Arnold has claimed that Ant and Dec’s jokes about her on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! made online abuse about her “worse”.
The gold medal-winning javelin thrower became the first disabled contestant to appear on the show in 2020, when the series was filmed in Gwrych Castle in Wales.
After Arnold used her MBE title when introducing herself to her fellow campmates, her words were parodied by presenters Ant and Dec, with Ant referring to himself as “Ant McPartlin, MBE”.
Speaking to The Sun, Arnold said that she had been made to feel “ashamed” of her title and pressured into removing it from her social media profile.
“I received so much abuse and read all of this horrible nonsense online,” she said. “People thought I was above myself but I’m literally the most chilled and laidback person ever.

Chris Moyles has revealed that the way his 2012 exit from the Radio 1 breakfast show was handled left him feeling “a bit cross”.
Moyles led the extremely popular BBC radio broadcast for almost nine years – longer than any other presenter before or since – totalling 15 years at the station.
He was succeeded by Nick Grimshaw who gave way to Greg James in 2018.
Speaking to MP Matt Hancock on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here on Monday night’s episode (14 November), Moyles said his departure was handled “so badly”.
“I knew that Radio 1 is a conveyor belt and you might be there for a year or you might be there for 15 years, but you’re going to fall off the end at some point,” he said.
Hancock asked: “Politics is like that. Did you know the end was coming? Did you leave happy or did you leave cross?”

Olivia Attwood has opened up about her “massively frustrating” departure from I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.
The former Love Island contestant entered the Australian jungle earlier this month, but had to leave the series just one day in “as a precautionary measure” in order to “undergo some medical checks”.
Attwood has since revealed that a routine blood test, which all the jungle campmates undergo randomly throughout the show, disclosed that she was dangerously anaemic.
Results also showed concerningly low sodium and potassium levels, which prompted ITV staff to take Attwood to A&e, despite the star maintaining she felt “absolutely fine”. Further tests at the hospital showed up normal.
Appearing on This Morning on Monday (14 November), Attwood revealed that the show’s production team considered sending her back to the jungle, but ultimately decided against it due to an issue with “insurance”.

Matt Hancock was seen by a medic on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after being stung by a scorpion.
During Sunday (13 November) night’s episode, the contestants were fetching logs for the camp when Hancock yelped out in pain.

He continued: “It was so painful… it hurts a lot and I’m feeling slightly dizzy. S***.”
Hancock said that the sting felt like “two times a bee sting”.
Boy George commented through stifled giggles: “Of all the people that could get stung by a scorpion. I mean, I’m not laughing...”

Matt Hancock was seen by a medic this weekend after being stung by a scorpion.
The politician, who is set to face his fifth Bushtucker Trial tonight, was stung on the finger.
An ITV spokesperson told The Independent: “Matt was stung on his finger by a scorpion earlier today in camp. It wasn’t poisonous and he was seen by a medic straight away and is absolutely fine.”
Earlier this week, Hancock told the celebrities in the camp he was looking for “forgiveness”.
The former health secretary became emotional while being criticised for breaking his own lockdown rules during Friday’s episode (11 November).
When TV presenter Scarlette Douglas asked him why he broke the rules, Hancock told her he was sorry, stating: “I fell in love with somebody.”
He told his campmates that he was not fined for the act as he “didn’t break any laws”, adding: “Guidance is different.

The release date of Aaron Carter’s posthumous, unfinished memoir has reportedly been pushed back, following criticism from the late singer’s friends and family.
Carter was found dead at his California home on 5 November 2022, aged 34.
The book, titled Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life, was written by journalist Andy Symonds and scheduled to be released on 15 November by Ballast Books.
Shortly after the release was announced, Hilary Duff criticised the move as a “heartless money grab”.
The Lizzie McGuire star and Carter dated for nearly two years, beginning in 2001 before breaking up in 2003.
In a statement to E!Online, Duff said: “It’s really sad that within a week of Aaron’s death, there’s a publisher that seems to be recklessly pushing a book out to capitalise on this tragedy without taking appropriate time or care to fact check the validity of his work.

William Shatner has reflected on tensions he’s had with his co-stars on the Star Trek franchise, including George Takei.
In his new essay collection, Boldly Go, Captain Kirk actor Shatner writes about the breakdown of his friendship with Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock, and the fact that Uhura actor Nichelle Nichols told him his co-stars found him “cold and arrogant”, writing: “I was horrified to learn this, ashamed that I hadn’t realised it.”
Sulu star Takei previously alleged that Shatner was “not a team player” on set, saying: “The rest of the cast all understand what makes a scene work. It’s everybody contributing to it.
“But Bill is a wonderful actor and he knows it, and he likes to have the camera on him all the time.”

Matt Hancock has settled into jungle life on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and, as expected, the public keep voting for him to do all the gruesome trials.
His arrival at the camp has been met with mixed emotions, with Boy George crying on camera, and Charlene White schooling the former health secretary over his decision to join the show.
Olivia Attwood, who was the first to exit, having been forced to drop out of the competition due to a medical matter less than 24 hours after she entered the jungle, said of Hancock after she left: “It’s funny to see him slimed and gunked but it isn’t funny if you didn’t get to hold someone’s hand when they died while he was snogging someone in his office.
“NHS workers are protesting to get paid enough money to survive and he is out earning money in the jungle.

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is back for another year, putting a new roster of famous faces under the bug-covered microscope.
Rounding out a cast that includes Conservative MP Matt Hancock and Culture Club singer Boy George is the comedian Seann Walsh.
Walsh is a familiar face among reality TV fans, thanks to a controversial run on BBC dance competition Strictly Come Dancing a few years ago.
While Walsh has won acclaim for his observational stand-up comedy routines, it is the cheating scandal with dance partner Katya Jones for which he is most widely remembered.

I’m a Celebrity 2022 is here – and the series has returned to Australia for the first time in three years.
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are back on hosting duties for the annual reality series, which this year features a musician, a DJ and a disgraced politician as part of its line-up.
One such celebrity taking part in the series is Owen Warner – but who is he?
Warner is a British actor best known for playing the role of Romeo Nightingale in Hollyoaks.
The 32-year-old first joined the soap in 2018 and has found himself at the centre of several key storylines.
Warner, who hails from Leicester, is considered to be a friend of I’m a Celebrity having previously appeared on discussion show I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp, which airs on ITV2, multiple times.
Shortly after he was announced as a contestant, Warner became one of the early favourites to win.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is getting into the thick of it now and, while Olivia Attwood had to leave early for medical reasons, we will soon see more stars going home at the hands of the public vote.
The public will be tasked with voting off contestants until only one star remains and they are crowned Queen or King of the Jungle.
In previous years, campmates were being voted off the show after approximately 10 days or episodes. This means that viewers can expect to say goodbye to the first celebrity around Wednesday 16 November.
This page will be updated when there is confirmation of the date.
Although no stars have been booted out of the camp yet, Love Island star Attwood was forced to quit after just one day.

Boy George has ruffled feathers after growing frustrated with fellow I’m a Celebrity campmate Charlene White.
The Culture Club singer hit out at the newsreader and Loose Women presenter in Tuesday night’s episode (8 November).
His words stemmed from White’s hands-on approach when it came to making dinner, when she shared instructions on what to do with the kangaroo sausages that had been delivered to camp.
Boy George did not enjoy being around White when she went into chef mode, telling producers in the Bush Telegraph: “It’s so weird, that bag comes down and Charlene just turns into an entirely different person.
He continued: “It’s amazing, she issues orders and tells everyone what to do. I’m like, ‘Wow’. You know, it’s like, ‘Who are you?’”

I’m a Celebrity’s first Bushtucker Trial has resulted in some viewer concerns over Chris Moyles’s safety.
During Monday night’s (7 November) episode of the much-loved survival programme, four contestants took part in the first big task of the season, in order to win meals for the camp.
Moyles, Boy George, Scarlette Douglas and Olivia Attwood had been selected via a public vote to compete in a trial named “Hms Drown Under”.
While Moyles and Boy George were placed in tanks with goggles over their eyes, Attwood and Douglas were in charge of unscrewing taps that were hidden in small holes in a wall, dodging spiders, snakes, entrails and other unsavoury items.
As Attwood and Douglas unscrewed, Moyles and Boy George’s tanks began to fill with cold water that steadily rose as the challenge progressed.

Paul Mescal has opened up about an interaction with a fan after Normal People came out that left him “f***ing angry”.
The actor starred alongside Daisy Edgar Jones in the BBC Three adaptation of Sally Rooney’s popular novel in 2020, with the show being praised for its realistic depiction of sex on screen.
In an interview with GQ Hype on Monday (7 November), Mescal recalled an exchange that happened shortly after the show was released, when he was out in County Waterford with friends.
His group ran into a hen party, when one woman told him: “I didn’t think the show was any good but I saw your willy and I have a photo!”

Heartstopper’s Joe Locke says tabloid interest in teenage cast’s love lives is ‘gross and perverted’
Heartstopper’s Joe Locke has said that tabloid interest in the teenage cast’s love lives is “gross and perverted”.
The actor stars in Netflix’s hit teen romcom, which has been widely praised for its positive portrayal of LGBTQ+ issues and its central relationship.
Last week, his 18-year-old co-star and on-screen love interest Kit Connor was forced to come out as bisexual after some fans accused him of “queerbaiting” after he was pictured holding hands with a female co-star.
Speaking to British GQ, Locke said that he had personally struggled with interest from the media in who he might be dating too.
“The idea of a tabloid being interested in a teenager’s love life is really gross,” he said.
“Someone making money out of rumours about who I – an 18-year-old boy – might be liking or talking to, it’s really gross and perverted. I’m 18… I don’t know who I am yet.

‘That’s a regretful situation’: Sylvester Stallone addresses absence from Michael B Jordan’s Creed 3
Sylvester Stallone has spoken about his absence from Michael B Jordan’s forthcoming Creed 3, calling it a “regretful situation”.
It was revealed in June that Stallone would no longer reprise his iconic role as Rocky Balboa in the ninth instalment of the Rocky franchise.
In earlier interviews, Stallone had said he “bowed out” of Creed III because he “didn’t know if there was any part” for him.
Now, in his recent cover story for The Hollywood Reporter, the 76-year-old actor further opened up about his decision to leave the movie.
“That’s a regretful situation because I know what it could have been. It was taken in a direction that is quite different than I would’ve taken it,” Stallone admitted.
“It’s a different philosophy – Irwin Winkler’s and Michael B Jordan’s. I wish them well, but I’m much more of a sentimentalist. I like my heroes getting beat up,...

Ozzy Osbourne has claimed that he and his wife Sharon had to enlist “armed guards” after a backlash against Sharon surrounding her talk show exit.
Sharon Osbourne was removed from her CBS chat show The Talk following a racism row, in which she defended Piers Morgan over his criticism of Meghan Markle.
In August, the couple announced that they would move back to the UK after 20 years in LA due to a number of recent shootings.
“Everything’s f****** ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings,” Osborne told The Observer in August.
“And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert … It’s f****** crazy. And I don’t want to die in America. I don’t want to be buried in f****** Forest Lawn,” he added.

Whoopi Goldberg has become the latest celebrity to abandon Twitter after Elon Musk’s takeover.
Musk’s tenure of the social media platform has been mired in controversy as the billionaire Tesla founder announced the introduction of an 8 monthly fee for those who wanted a “blue tick” verification badge.
On Monday’s (7 November) episode of her show The View, Goldberg said Twitter had become a “mess” since Musk took the helm.
“It’s been a little over a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and this place is a mess,” she said.
“I’m getting off today because I just feel like it’s so messy, and I’m tired of now having certain kinds of attitudes blocked now getting back on. So I’m gonna get out, and if it settles down enough and I feel more comfortable maybe I’ll come back. But as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter.

The first image of David Tennant as Alexander Litvinenko has been released.
Tennant will portray the late Russian spy in the drama series, Litvinenko, about the death of Litvinenko in 2006.
His death came 22 days after being poisoned with a rare and difficult-to-detect radioactive substance, Polonium-210, at a London hotel.
Prior to his death, he gave interviews to the police from his hospital bed, containing information that would ultimately lead investigators to the people responsible for his poisoning.
Created by George Kay, Litvinenko will tell the story of his widow, Marina (Margarita Levieva), and her battle to convince the British government to publicly name her husband’s killers and acknowledge the Russian State’s role in his murder.
The first image released by ITV shows Tennant as the spy in a hospital bed, with no hair and a gaunt appearance.
It is a nearly exact replica of a photo of Litvinenko...
