Pirjo Jonas
- Actress
Pirjo Jonas came into the world of TV and films from the operatic stage: she is a renowned coloratura soprano who has sung and recorded several great bel canto roles. She was cast in the screen version of Mart Sander's The Whores as a 1930s high-class call girl girl / spy with operatic ambitions - a role for which she was nominated Best TV Actress at the Kroonika Entertainment Awards. This role led to other guest parts in TV series; public sympathy for her character Maria in The Whores was such that her character, who was tragically killed at the end of Season I, was 'resurrected' for the season II (The Women's War) in a flashback segment. As a full-time prima donna, her screen performances are few and far between, but her dramatic talent has won her a lot of recognition.
