Attorneys for numerous artists from Luis Fonsi and Anitta to Pitbull and Karol G are responding to a lawsuit that claims that hundreds of reggaeton songs infringed the copyright of one reggae track from 1989. They want the lawsuit tossed.

On Thursday, 107 of the more than 150 musicians named as defendants filed three motions asking a judge to dismiss the case, according to documents obtained by Dancehall Mag.

The Glastonbury 2023 headliners have been announced by Emily Eavis.
The festival’s co-organiser shared the news in an article discussing “pipeline” problems related to the all-male headlining line-up.
Joining Elton John will be Arctic Monkeys on the Friday, headlining for their third time, with Guns N’ Roses playing the Saturday slot.
Eavis said that Guns N’ Roses replaced a female singer who “changed her touring plans”.
While Eavis didn’t name names, it’s strongly suspected she was alluding to Taylor Swift, who was originally set to perform in 2020 when the festival was cancelled due to Covid.
However, Eavis expressed excitement about the “Sweet Child O’ Mine” rockers’ Glastonbury debut, telling The Guardian: “They’ll be brilliant and provide something totally different to the rest of the headliners.”
She said that Lizzo will “open” for the band, with the “About Damn Time” singer receiving joint headline billing on the poster.

MTV International is rebooting iconic format “MTV Cribs,” with guests including Caitlyn Jenner, Nickelodeon personality and singer JoJo Siwa, former “Glee” star Kevin McHale and British singer Stefflon Don.
The global launch follows something of a warm-up for “Cribs” in the last year. The show received a U.K. adaptation in September 2019, followed by this summer’s “MTV Cribs: Footballers Stay Home,” which was filmed remotely during the global pandemic. Snapchat also rebooted the format in the U.S. for a short-form series back in 2017.
The show, which is in many ways tailor-made for lockdown programming, takes viewers inside celebrity homes, with high-profile stars greeting the camera at their front doors, and providing intimate tours of various rooms and highlighting prized possessions. “Cribs” first debuted in 2000 and ran for 13 seasons. By 2005, the show had visited around 185 homes of celebrities including Destiny’s Child, Snoop Dogg and Mariah Carey.

Migos pull off an elaborate bank heist in the new video for “Frosted Flakes,” a track off the upcoming Quality Control compilation Control the Streets, Volume 2, out tomorrow, August 16th.

On Super Bowl weekend 2019, the Atlanta label Quality Control – home to Migos, Lil Yachty, Stefflon Don, City Girls and more hip-hop stars – threw a “Stripper Bowl” party at Atlanta strip club The Gold Room, where allegedly $500,000 worth of bills were thrown in one night.
So goes the text opening of “Stripper Bowl,” Migos’ latest music video. Filmed partially at the actual Stripper Bowl celebration, the clip is pretty much what you expect: each Migo rapping about their appreciation of booty while sitting in front of, well, booty.

Mariah Carey’s “A No No,” released last year on her album Caution, continues to take on a life of its own with its second remix release, featuring up-and-coming rapper Shawni.
In the video, Mariah and Shawni party and parade around a colorful subway car, alongside a troupe of dancers and some extremely well-dressed passengers. It’s essentially the same video as the one for an earlier “A No No” remix, featuring Stefflon Don, released last month. (We stan a legend who recycles.) This time, though, the featured rapper is actually in the clip.

Bebe Rexha lit up The Late Show with a cleansing fire during a performance of her latest single, “Last Hurrah,” Monday. The performance opened with a slightly awkward moment, when the lighter Rexha was holding up to her mouth flickered out before she had the chance to properly lick the flame (instead, she not-so-edgily tongued an unlit hunk of plastic).
Still, the budding pop star tore through “Last Hurrah” with tons of energy, moving about a set meant to resemble a dingy basement while a cavalcade of balaclava-wearing women danced around her.

Two years after the smash success of “Despacito,” his Guinness World Record-breaking collaboration with Daddy Yankee, Puerto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi follows through with his ninth full-length (and first since 2014), Vida. Fonsi’s career is no overnight success story — he’s spent the last two decades as one of Latin pop’s most chameleonic singer-songwriters. An island-born Boricua who transplanted to Orlando, Florida as a teen, he first cut his teeth singing doo-wop songs alongside high school classmate Joey Fatone of ‘NSync fame; the two linked up again on Fonsi’s 2002 English crossover album,...

The plan was to sell flowers.
Following a successful music-industry career throughout the Eighties and Nineties, working with the likes of Kenny Loggins and Paul Simon, Denzyl Feigelson moved to Hawaii. There, semiretired, the South African exec launched an online floral company (based on the the bones of a sluggish, pre-Google internet) that shipped local blooms into the States.
Soon after this petal-peddling venture was underway, though, in 1996, Feigelson had a brain wave. Eleven years before the arrival of SoundCloud, nine before the launch of TuneCore, Feigelson believed that...

Nile Rodgers reaches back to New Jack Swing, the brittle fusion of hip-hop and R&B that ruled the second half of the Eighties, on the new single “Sober” with his group Chic.
Actually, it’s a little more complicated than that: This is a disco pioneer playing New Jack Swing with Craig David, an English singer who became famous working in a dance style known as U.K. garage, and Stefflon Don, an English rapper of Jamaican descent who was born just as New Jack Swing was beginning to lose its popularity.

The long-awaited new album by Drake has arrived. “Scorpion” clocks in at 25 tracks, 12 on side A and 13 on side B, and features guest appearances by Jay-z (“Talk Up”), Static Major and Ty Dolla Sign (“After Dark”) and a previously unreleased vocal by Michael Jackson which leads the hook to the song “Don’t Matter to Me.”
Credited elsewhere on the album are Nicki Minaj, Future and Paul Anka, the 76-year-old crooner known for classics like “Puppy Love” and “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” and a longtime collaborator of Jackson’s.
The album also seems to confirm rumors that Drake has fathered a son, acknowledging his newborn child in the track “Emotionless” and “March 14,” in which he raps “kiss my son on the forehead.” Other references include lyrics about George Zimmerman and Malcolm X.
Within an hour of its release, “Scorpion” shot up to No. 1 on the iTunes chart and on Apple Music.
