Nathaniel Jones(V)
- Composer
Born in North Carolina sometime before Reagan was sworn into office and Star Wars was blowing the minds of the world... Nathaniel came to be. Even as he was being delivered, nurses could have sworn that Nathaniel was tapping his feet and whistling his own theme as he immersed from his mother's womb, relishing in the miracle of life.
Growing up, Nathaniel's family moved him from location to location as an Army Brat, and spent many years abroad being exposed to the cultures of the world. In his pre-teen years, his primary focus in music was sound effects and beating on anything that sounded interesting. This certainly did not exclude his parent's toothbrushes on the bathroom toilet, in-fact... It was his preferred method of performance until 9.
As Nathaniel matured, he later picked up the acoustic guitar and began studying the scales and melodies of Spanish Classical guitar. Soon later he expanded his palette into various styles of Rock, Metal, Folk, and Flamenco performance as well. His journey eventually took him to South Beach Miami where he studied under some of the most accomplished Flamenco performers in the live market at the time.
This inspired a deeper understanding of music and ultimately drove him to further expand his knowledge by learning the engineering aspects of production. One thing led to another, and eventually a decision was made to attend MMI in Madison WI if only to solidify his knowledge in Audio Physics, providing him with the knowledge needed to start taking his work to a professional level, and start making his ideas breathe to life.
It was here that he learned the intricacies of musical theory, the fundamentals of music production, and how to harness the limitless potential of the human imagination. He developed skills in MIDI sequencing, sound design, and general music production in this time and has yet to stop learning.
His influences range from Trent Reznor, Hans Zimmer, Thomas Newman, Groove Armada, to James Horner. As such... Nathaniel has begun a journey of finding ways to consolidate his knowledge by hybridizing all of his favorite elements into new genres for listener consumption.
It is Nathaniel's desire to not only challenge himself, but his listeners as well, and is always seeking new and interesting formulas to present his work in. In the last decade he has scored for several feature length films, produced demos for countless indie artists, and actively develops his own projects while providing engineering services to a wide variety of talent & genres.
He has won numerous online competitions, freelances with several well known publishers, and is determined to make a mark in the music industry by working hard and providing nothing less than professional & often inspired results for his many clients.
He has benefited from the wisdom and knowledge of many more experienced people than himself, often through a long but rewarding process of development, he has been determined to rise to the challenges life has presented to him over his career. In turn... He only wishes to share in his accumulated knowledge by helping other artist realize their full potential.
Nathaniel's current goal is to win a Grammy by 42. He is determined to see it realized as he pushes his limitations & understanding of music more and more with the passing of each production he's involved with.
