Rory participated in the Summer of Sonic conventions from it's first year (2008), he then ran and hosted the events fully for two years (2012 and 2013). He was also involved in the initial contact with Sega, alongside Svend Joscelyne in 2004-2005, which began the community interaction the Sonic the Hedgehog fan-base saw with Sega of Europe. These, alongside the further work by Svend Joscelyne, Kevin Eva and Adam Tuff, laid the groundwork for the Guinness World Record holding convention to happen.
