Long before she was a movie star, a teenage Nicole Kidman appeared in the early-’80s action comedy “BMX Bandits,” a rowdy Australian kidpic full of bicycle stunts and Scooby-Doo crime-stopping shenanigans. It’s too early to say whether any of the adorable young leads in “Riddle of Fire” will go on to have successful acting careers. Still, it’s amusing to think that two decades into the 21st century, writer-director Weston Razooli has taken inspiration from such questionable classics, along with vintage live-action Disney fare — like “Escape from Witch Mountain” and the Herbie movies, which the studio sold in puffy white VHS cases — for his own retro-spirited debut.
Spun from equal parts imagination and nostalgia, “Riddle of Fire” comes as close as any film since “Spy Kids” or “Kisses” to mirroring the kind of cinematic adventures we made in our heads as kids. Razooli remembers how it feels to...

Judas Priest have endured in one form or another for more than 50 years, and on their new single, “Trial by Fire,” they recognize their own fortitude. “Bound and abused, branded a liar/I have endured trial by fire,” frontman Rob Halford sings in the chorus, growling the word “fire” a little more each time he sings it.
The track, which naturally features some pyrotechnic guitar playing by Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, will feature on the band’s upcoming Invincible Shield album, due out March 3, 2024.

As the clock struck midnight on Friday the 13th, Judas Priest rolled out “Panic Attack” — the first slice of their upcoming album Invincible Shield.
The group’s 19th studio album is set for release on March 8, 2024, and was revealed earlier this month during their appearance at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California. The band filled in for former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who was scheduled to headline at the festival, but withdrew due to ongoing health issues.

German metal singer Doro has shared a cover of the Judas Priest classic “Living After Midnight” featuring guest vocals from Priest frontman Rob Halford himself.
Considering the heavy metal pedigree of both singers — Doro as the frontwoman of the iconic German band Warlock in the ’80s and as a longstanding solo artist, and Halford as the Metal God — “Living After Midnight” comes as a natural choice for a cover version. It’s a confident and rebellious track, and the duo sings it with conviction. Obviously, Halford has performed the song countless times, but still sounds as triumphant as ever delivering the boastful lyrics alongside Doro.
“Judas Priest and Rob Halford have always been one of my biggest inspirations and continue to be my heroes,” remarked Doro in a press release. “It was so great working with Rob. ‘Living After Midnight’ has always been one of my favorite songs and I...

In addition to “World on Fire,” Dolly Parton has released two additional songs from her forthcoming Rockstar album. She’s joined by Ann Wilson for a cover of “Magic Man.” Parton has also released a new original song called “Bygones,” which features Nikki Sixx and John 5. All three tracks are part of the singer’s debut rock album, which houses 30 tracks in total.
Dolly Parton’s ‘Magic Man’
“I’ve always wanted a reason to sing ‘Magic Man’ by Heart and it was one of my first choices for the album,” Parton said in a statement. “I was so happy that Ann Wilson agreed to sing it with me. Nobody can out sing Ann, but I gave it my darndest, and we added a few lines that were not in the original. We wanted to have a few things that made it seem like ours. Thank you, Nancy, for...

In 1980, Dolly Parton was ruling the pop and country charts with “9 to 5” while Judas Priest were “Breaking the Law” and the members of Mötley Crüe weren’t even wearing leather. At that point in time, none of those artists likely ever thought they’d cross paths. Now, Parton has teamed with Priest screamer Rob Halford and Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist John 5 on a new song, “Bygones,” one of two new tracks Parton released from her upcoming Rockstar album, out Nov. 17.

Dolly Parton has continued rolling out her Rockstar era with a pair of new tracks: an original song titled “Bygones” featuring Judas Priest’s Rob Halford and a cover of Heart’s “Magic Man” with Ann Wilson herself.
“Bygones” also features Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and John 5, who recently joined the Crüe as their new guitarist. On the track, Parton and Halford trade dueling vocals, singing, “I’m sorry, so sorry/ How long must you punish me?/ Why can’t we just move on?/ Let bygones be bygones.”
In a statement, Parton called “Bygones” one of her “very favorites” on the album, adding, “The song fits with so many couples and coupling my voice with Rob, one of my all-time favorites, made it even more special.”
On her cover of “Magic Man,” Parton mostly sticks to the original, singing the first verse before handing the mic over to Wilson for the second verse.
