Amar Singh Chamkila’s Jukebox Is An Asset To Be Treasured ( Photo Credit – Netflix India / YouTube )
Rating – 10 out of 5 stars! Some Albums outperform!
The release of Amar Singh Chamkila is still a few days away, but the jukebox of the film is out, and this is one film where Bollywood outperformed after a very long time. Recently, I was putting all my hopes for a good Bollywood music album from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, totally forgetting about the Chamkila biopic. But finally, Ar Rahman, Imtiaz Ali, and Irshad Kamil’s magical trio arrived unannounced, taking my breath away. And this album is the only soul music you need right now.
If you talk about a brilliantly balanced album from a commercial film, you would struggle when you encountered it last. Last year, Animal had a good album, undoubtedly, but it never stayed with you. Similarly, Rocky Aur Rani Ki...

Oscar and Grammy-winning music composer A.R. Rahman set the house on fire with his special performance with playback singer Kailash Kher in Mumbai.
Rahman attended the trailer launch of the film at the Mehboob Studios in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Thursday.
He was accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali, global superstar Diljit Dosanjh and actress Parineeti Chopra.
The film marks Rahman and Imtiaz collaboration after nine years, their last collaboration being the cult-classic ‘Tamasha’.
After the team interacted with the media, Rahman took to the stage along with Kailash and singer Yashika Sikka, and performed the song with the lyrics ‘Bol mohabbat seene la, Rabba Rabba seene la’.

The second song, titled ‘Naram Kaalja’, from the upcoming Diljit Dosanjh-starrer ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, hit the airwaves on Thursday. The song is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of Chamkila’s popularity among female audiences.
Chamkila’s craze among women was unparalleled as they would throng the terraces of the houses around his Akhadaas (live music performances in villages) in droves and at times their numbers would be so high that the roofs would cave.
This earned Chamkila the title — Kotha Dhau Kalakaar (the Roof Breaker).
The song has been composed by Oscar and Grammy-winner A.R. Rahman, and has been crooned by Alka Yagnik, Richa Sharma, Pooja Tiwari, and Yashika Sikka with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
The film also stars Parineeti Chopra.
The film is produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings Llp, Saregama, and Window Seat Films.
‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ will drop on Netflix on April 12.

The first song ‘Ishq Mitaye’ from the upcoming Diljit Dosanjh-starrer film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ has been sung by Mohit Chauhan. The song, composed by Oscar and Grammy-winning composer A R Rahman, brings together the dream team of Rahman, lyricist Irshad Kamil, director Imtiaz Ali and Mohit Chauhan, who had earlier delivered chartbuster music in ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Tamasha’.
The track is a blend of traditional and modern beats, weaving a musical narrative of the dramatic times in which Chamkila became the iconic music star for the masses in Panjab – the highest record selling artiste ever.
It’s strongly reminiscent of the Punjabi music of the 1980s.
The song was released on Thursday at the ‘Next on Netflix’ event in Mumbai in the presence of Parineeti Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh, Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, Imitiaz Ali and Irshad Kamil.
