It's been almost five years since Game of Thrones wrapped up its wildly popular run on HBO.
But while the show might have consistently delivered stellar ratings, it didn't always leave viewers feeling satisfied.
In fact, half a decade after the controversial Game of Thrones series finale, any mention of the series is still more likely to elicit complaints than fond memories from people who would've once described themselves as devoted fans.
Why such a rapid reversal of opinion?
Well, Game of Thrones' lackluster final season is the most obvious culprit, but the criticism began long before Daenerys turned to the dark side.
The show's ability to generate controversy and debate among fans was one of the keys to its early success.
Unfortunately, by the time Bran Stark came out of left field to claim the Iron Throne, the chorus of criticism was far louder than the smattering of praise.

Gordon Ramsay is hitting the road again. Fox has revived the Kitchen Nightmares TV series more than nine years after the show's last episode.
A reality series, the Kitchen Nightmares TV show follows Chef Gordon Ramsay as he travels to troubled restaurants to help their owners from having to close their doors for the last time. Each episode features a different restaurant and a different set of problems and Ramsay helps restaurant owners diagnose what keeps their establishments from success. He encounters such issues as mismanagement, uncooperative staff members, stubborn chefs, frozen food, dirty kitchens, and overly complex menus.
Kitchen Nightmares debuted on Fox in September 2007 and ran for six seasons, ending in September 2014. While most shows are usually cancelled, Ramsay pulled the plug on this show himself in June 2014.

Fox made its annual upfront pitch to advertisers at the Manhattan Center on Monday afternoon, pushing the messages of Fox Entertainment, Tubi, Fox News, and Fox Sports, all while promising the audience that don’t worry, we’ll get you hammered soon.
Coming off of presentations hampered by the pandemic in recent years, Fox was back in nearly full force, with the writers’ strike limiting the number of network stars in attendance. The event also featured some football antics courtesy of Rob Gronkowski and some well-placed cursing by Gordon Ramsay.

With a tip of the hat to Agatha Christie and a nod toward “Twelve Angry Men,” writer-director Ted Geoghegan (“Mohawk”) skillfully sustains suspense and showcases a strong cast in “Brooklyn 45,” a supernatural-themed chamber drama about a small group of World War II vets entangled in a séance where visits from the restless departed are hardly the worst threat to participants. Set for a June 9 premiere on the Shudder streaming service after a sprint on the festival circuit, the film impresses as a well-crafted period piece with some pointed observations about paranoia and xenophobia that feel, discomfortingly, as relevant as recent news reports about over-reactions by stand-your-ground shooters.
It’s a cold December evening in 1945 when Lt. Col. Clive “Hock” Hockstatter (Larry Fessenden) summons to his Park Slope, Brooklyn brownstone four friends whose lives, like his, have been drastically affected by their recent wartime experiences: Marla Sheridan (Anne Ramsay), a...

We've only got one episode left of Next Level Chef Season 2 before the semi-finals.
Needless to say, the heat is on!
To celebrate, we've got an exclusive clip from Next Level Chef Season 2 Episode 13.
Next Level Chef brings cooks from all around the country to the Next Level kitchen to prove they've got what it takes to win an extraordinary prize.
We've seen time and again how much chefs learn under the three mentors, Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington, and Richard Blais, so imagine a one-year mentorship under all three with a $250k cash prize.
That will be an enormous boost for any up-and-coming chef, but there is a certain group in the industry who fights harder than most -- women.
If you find that hard to believe, consider this: only a quarter of chefs are women, but only 6% reach the very top, according to Chef's Pencil.
It's kind of...

“MasterChef Australia” host Jock Zonfrillo has died at age 46.
The award-winning chef’s tragic death was revealed by Australian television network Network 10 on the same day the latest season of “MasterChef” was due to air.
Zonfrillo — from Glasgow, Scotland — was found dead at a house in Melbourne in the early hours of Monday morning, the BBC reported. His death isn’t being treated as suspicious, according to Victoria Police.
The star’s family said in a statement: “For those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky,” adding their hearts were “shattered.”
Zonfrillo is survived by his wife, Lauren Fried, and his four children.
Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Jock Zonfrillo, a beloved member of the MasterChef Australia family.

As the competition grows stiffer with each episode, we can expect that some of the up-to-now darlings are going to feel the heat.
It seemed as if the same people were going to eliminations week after week, and many of the faces we've seen haven't had to go head-to-head in the eliminations very often, if at all.
But it looks like Chef Shay might find himself in the hot seat with his latest dish.
It looks a little like a flank steak or skirt steak and baked macaroni and cheese.
As much as I love to eat, I do not know the cuts of meat to see them, but if it is flank or skirt steak, they aren't easy cuts of meat to work with in a timed setting.
The macaroni and cheese looks like dressed up and baked Kraft, but that can't be right!
Geez, the more I talk about it,...

Midway through the very first episode of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, the 2004 restaurant docuseries starring celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, the mercurial cook’s unusually calm voiceover pauses a moment. Ramsay is considering a change in approach to reach Tim, the uninspired 21-year-old chef of Bonapartes in West Yorkshire.
“Maybe it’s me,” Ramsay muses. “I should try the ‘softly softly’ approach.”
Ramsay does opt for the “softly softly” approach, operating slightly more gently with Tim than his usual bombastic bouts of yelling. Ultimately the strategy is unsuccessful. After one night of success, Tim falls back into bad habits at episode’s end and Bonapartes would close within a year … leading to its owner Sue pursuing an unsuccessful lawsuit against Ramsay, alleging that production staged portions of the episode. Ramsay was awarded £75,000 plus court costs.

For Studio Ramsay Global’s latest U.S. series, the Fox co-owned producer is trying something different: A show that doesn’t star Gordon Ramsay.
Hosted by White House chef and U.S. Army master sergeant chef Andre Rush, “Kitchen Commando” will launch its first episode on Fox’s ad-supported streamer Tubi on Sunday, the same day that Season 2 of Ramsay’s “Next Level Chef” debuts on Fox after the Super Bowl. “Kitchen Commando,” which will rollout new episodes weekly each Sunday, a first for Tubi, follows Rush as he takes on a new mission to save struggling restaurants and reignite their passion for the service industry.
The series is an “exciting experiment” for both Tubi and for Studio Ramsay Global, per Ramsay’s chief creative officer Lisa Edwards.

Nowadays, medieval reimaginings about a spunky modern girl ahead of her time are a dime a dozen. Call it the "Arya" effect, but as long as YA has existed (maybe even longer), so has the headstrong female character who bucks gender norms and only wants to play in the mud or with swords. And Birdy, the title character of the charming but slight "Catherine Called Birdy," appears to fall too easily into this category. But writer-director Lena Dunham, dipping her toes into family comedy territory for the first time, imbues "Catherine Called Birdy" with enough irreverence and absurdity to give star Bella Ramsey the chance to soar beyond her fellow "strong female characters" — even if the movie is not quite as dazzling as she is.
