Diana the Musical, the much-mocked telling of the life story of Diana, Princess of Wales, has swept the board at this year’s Razzie Awards.
Complete winners list below.
The stage show, of which a filmed version was shown on Netflix, won five awards at this year’s Golden Raspberries, including worst picture, worst actress for Jeanna de Waal in the title role, worst director, worst supporting actress and worst screenplay. It had been nominated in nine categories altogether.
Netlix streamed a filmed version of the stage show before it debuted on Broadway, without a live audience due to theaters being closed at a time of coronavirus restrictions. When the theatrical show eventually opened, it lasted for only 33 performances on Broadway before the curtain fell for the final time.

The winners of the 42nd annual Golden Raspberry Awards were announced on late Friday night/early Saturday morning, with two of the most well-known recipients being Jared Leto and LeBron James. James “won” the worst lead actor trophy for “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” the half-cartoon flick that was also named worst sequel and worst screen combo. Scroll down for the complete list of Razzie Awards 2022 winners, which are noted in gold.

The show “scored” nine noms for the 2022 Golden Raspberries spanning nearly all of the categories, including Worst Picture, Actress, Actor, Director and Screenplay. As is tradition, the Golden Raspberry Awards announced their contenders on the eve of the Oscar nominations. The Razzies, now in their 42nd year, are a tongue-in-cheek ceremony that “honor” the worst films of the year. Scroll down for the full list of nominees in all 10 Razzie Awards categories ranging from Worst Picture to Worst Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel. Unique to this year is a category dedicated to Bruce Willis and his eight performances in pictures last year.
Leading the 2022 Razzie Awards nominations roster is the Netflix version of the Broadway flop “Diana: The Musical” with nine bids. Tied with five apiece are “Karen” and “The Woman in the Window.” Each of these ill-conceived movies counts a Worst Picture nomination among its haul. Joining them in that race are the sequel “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and the sci-fi flick “Infinite.”
As usual, “winners” will be decided by Razzie members.

Euro Box Office Stats For 2021
While European box office in 2021 recovered well from 2020, up 42% to 3.8B euros ($4.23B), the year was still 57% down on pre-pandemic takings in 2019, data from the International Union of Cinemas shows. Unic, which reps European cinema trade associations and operators, said in its preliminary findings that admissions increased by an estimated 38% in 2021, with over 590M visits across the region. Cinemas in many markets were closed in the first part of the year, and moviegoing came back in a big way in the second half, thanks to such tentpoles as Spider-Man: No Way Home, No Time To Die, F9, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Dune. Comparing results for the second half of 2019 with the same period in 2021, revenues for the markets where data is available were on average 35% below pre-pandemic levels including France (-22%), the UK (-26%), Russia (-29.5%) and Poland (-24.3%). The Razzie Awards nominations recognizing the worst “crap streaming, beaming and steaming from our various screens and devices” of 2021 — as the group put it — have been announced, with LeBron James, “Diana: The Musical,” Amy Adams and Bruce Willis topping the heap.
“Here’s a look at what we saw,” the organization said in a press release. “The excruciating musicals, thrill-free thriller rip-offs, a nearly 2 hour product placement flick, and more Bruce Willis than any starving viewer could stomach. In other words, 2021 did not fail the Razzies!”
With Oscar nominations coming out on Tuesday morning, the Academy Award’s snarky counterpart, the Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Razzies) followed suit as they do every year at this time acknowledging the superior work – or, actually, the inferior work – coming out of the entertainment industry.

It’s a peculiarity of Michael Caine’s bluff Cockney star persona that he could have plausibly played Fagin in any adaptation of “Oliver Twist” over the last 50-odd years; it’s an unfortunate failure of judgment that he has chosen to finally do so in “Twist.” Nominally updating Charles Dickens’ much-filmed yarn of crime, punishment and improvised family to the streets and rooftops of 21st-century London, Martin Owen’s film instead feels instantly, even desperately, outmoded, using all the graffiti, parkour and streetwear it can to disguise the fact that it has no fresh angle on the material at all — merely a heist-by-numbers subplot straight out Guy Ritchie’s drafts bin, welded to Dickens’ coming-of-age narrative with all the poetry of a press release for a brand collaboration.

2020 has been awful for most of us due to the pandemic and the start of this year is no better. Although new movies are not really being made, we are still getting release after realease. I find myself less interested in checking out the big-budget stuff like Tenet and can’t seem to find excitement for Wonder Woman 84. Instead I find myself turning to the lower budget, but way more outlandish, projects that serve up a nice big bowl of escapism. Movies like Knuckledust, Come Away or GLoc.
Recently the trailer for a new Scott Adkins movie dropped called The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud and straight away I was in for this one. I mean come on, Scott Adkins channelling his...

"Who wants the first dance!?" Well Go USA has debuted an official trailer for an indie video game sci-fi action movie titled Max Cloud, though the original full title is The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud. This looks like a goofy, comedic play on The Last Starfighter, about a gamer girl who gets sucked into her favorite side-scroller game. She's transported into a crashed space cruiser on a planet that is home to an intergalactic prison. Her friend on the outside must help her finish the game. The film stars Scott Adkins as Max Cloud, plus Isabelle Allen, Tommy Flanagan, Lashana Lynch, Elliot Langridge, Sally Collett, Franz Drameh, and John Hannah. This looks like wacky video game fun! Reminds me of the Trost Bros' The Fp with its clunky sci-fi style. Might be a good casual watch with friends on the weekend. Here's the first official trailer (+ two posters) for Martin Owen's Max Cloud,...

The company says that while many international rights have been sold to Spi International, a handful of territories remain available, including Japan, Australia, Germany, the U.K. and China.

Michael Caine, Lena Headey and pop star Rita Ora are to star in “Twist,” a modern-day, gender-bending film interpretation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel “Oliver Twist” for Sky, which will release the film day and date in theaters and on its pay-tv platform.
The title role of Oliver is played by Jude Law’s son Raff Law. In this version, Oliver is reinvented as a streetwise artist living on the streets of modern-day London.
A chance encounter with a gang of grifters led by the charismatic Dodge, played by Ora, propels Twist into a high-stakes heist to steal a priceless painting for master thief Fagin, portrayed by Caine, and his psychopathic business partner, Sikes, played by Headey. Franz Drameh, Sophie Simnett and David Walliams also star.
The film goes into production in London this fall, and will be available on the Sky Cinema pay-tv service on the same day as its theatrical release.
