George Antoine Athanas; born 17 June 1990 is a Syrian Lebanese Greek film score composer and music producer. His works are notable for integrating oriental Arabic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. Since 2010, Athanas has composed music for over 25 artists, 3 films, and 2 documentaries. Athanas spent the early part of his career in Lebanon before moving to the United Arab Emirates. Athanas was born on 17 June 1990 in Latakia, West Syria. As a young child, he lived in Latakia, where he played the piano at home but had piano lessons only briefly, as he disliked the discipline of formal lessons. In one of his radio interviews, he said: "My formal training was two years of piano lessons. I couldn't handle any teacher. But I joined a band. I am self-taught. But I've always heard music in my head. And I'm a child of the 20th century; computers and internet knowledge came in very handy.- Mustapha Karkouti (1943 - July 16, 2020) was a Syrian freelance journalist and media consultant, residing in London since the early 1970s. He started as an agency journalist in Syria in the 1960s and went on to be a founding member of the Lebanese daily newspaper As-Safir. As its foreign correspondent he was sent to London in the early 1970s where remained for the rest of his career.
In the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege in London he was taken hostage, and the hostage-takers who were primarily Arab used him to communicate with the police and other hostages. He was released before the British Special Air Service (SAS) stormed the embassy. - Hanna Mina was born on 9 March 1924 in Latakia, Alawite State. He was a writer, known for Al-yazerli (1974) and Al-shams fi youm ghaim (1985). He died on 21 August 2018 in Damascus, Syria.
