- Marthe Mellot was born on 16 February 1870 in Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire, Nièvre, France. She was an actress, known for Le pays sans étoiles (1946), The Late Mathias Pascal (1925) and La dame de Malacca (1937). She died on 13 August 1947 in Paris, France.
- George Godfrey was a heavyweight boxer who fought from 1919-1937. On June 6, 1930, He boxed against future Heavyweight Champion Primo Carnera in Shibe Park, Philadelphia. He was winning the fight when it was suspiciously called in the 6th round and awarded to Canera on a disqualification. Godfrey would go to Europe late in his career and win the International Boxing Union World Heavyweight title. In 2003, Godfrey was named to the Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time. In 2007, he was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
