Composer, songwriter ("There's a Blue Sky Way Out Yonder"), publisher and comedian, a pianist for a publishing company and later a bandleader. He was half of the Fields and Hall duo of radio and recordings, and a producer for the Voice of America. His popular-song compositions include "That Old Family Album", "I've Got a Code id By Dose", "If You See My Little Mountain Girl", "The Man With the Little White Cane", "In Eleven More Months and Ten More Days", "There's a Blue Sky Way Out Yonder" and several others. He joined ASCAP in 1939.
