- Frank Kane was born in New York, and by the age of 19 had finished college at New York University. From the 1930s to the 190s he was a prolific writer of books, radio shows and television series. He is best known for his popular books about the adventures of detective Johnny Liddell. Kane's character was the hero of some 30 books, more than 400 short stories, and was featured in detective magazines such as "Manhunt", "The Saint", "Private Eye" and "Pursuit". He penned scripts for some of the most popular radio programs of the day, including six years as the writer for the audience favorite "The Shadow." Other detective shows Kane wrote for included "Gang Busters," "Casey, Crime Photographer" and "Nick Carter." He also created, wrote and produced "Claims Agent" for NBC, which was based on Kane's character, Jim Rogers, Claims Agent. Later in his career, Frank Kane spent time in Hollywood, writing for the television networks, including Special Agent 7 (1958), The Investigators (1961) and, most notably, Mike Hammer (1958). One of his most popular books, "Key Witness," was made into a movie. Key Witness (1960).
Frank Kane died unexpectedly at his home in Manahasset, NY, in 1968, with many projects unfinished. - Slim Lucas was born on 22 February 1892 in Silver City, New Mexico, USA.
