Starting out his entertainment career in vaudeville and on the stage, Carter DeHaven entered films while still a teenager and soon achieved fame appearing in productions with his wife, Flora Parker DeHaven. During his long film career he also produced and directed several movies, and Charles Chaplin chose him to be his assistant during the filming of Modern Times (1936). DeHaven began somewhat of a show-business dynasty: in addition to his wife, his daughter Gloria DeHaven is also an actress, and his sister, his son, his grandson and his great-grandson were or still are in the film industry.- Cinematographer

Stevan Miskovic was born in 1907 in Tomasevac, Serbia. He was a cinematographer, known for Cudna devojka (1962), For Two Little Grapes (1955) and Gorki deo reke (1965). He died on 20 July 1977 in Melenci, Serbia, Yugoslavia.- Dede Ball was born on 21 September 1892 in Jamestown, New York, USA. She was an actress, known for Here's Lucy (1968), The Carol Burnett Show (1967) and The Merv Griffin Show (1962). She was married to Peterson, Edward and Ball, Henry. She died on 20 July 1977 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- Sir Archibald Grenfell Price (1892-1977), geographer, historian and educationist, was born on 28 January 1892 in North Adelaide, second and only surviving son of South Australian-born parents Henry Archibald Price, banker and businessman, and his wife Elizabeth Jane, née Harris.
In May 1941 Price won a by-election for the seat of Boothby in the Australian House of Representatives and held the seat until the 1943 election.
Chairman (1953-71) of the advisory board of the Commonwealth Literary Fund, he anticipated in 1956 the implementation of the public lending rights scheme for authors. As chairman (1960-71) of the council of the National Library of Australia, he had the honour in 1970 of showing the new library building to Queen Elizabeth II.
In 1973 became an honorary member of the American Geographical Society.
Survived by his wife, and their daughter and two sons, he died on 20 July 1977 in North Adelaide and was cremated. - P. Walter Jacob was born on 26 January 1905 in Duisburg, Germany. He was an actor, known for Der Reichstagsbrandprozess (1967), Bridge mit Onkel Tom (1961) and Der Prozeß Carl von O. (1964). He died on 20 July 1977 in Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Würrtemberg, West Germany.
- Aleksandr Kusikov was born on 17 September 1896 in Armavir, Kuban oblast, Russian Empire [now Krasnodar krai, Russia]. He was an actor, known for Sami sitsotskhle (1924) and Savur-Mogila (1926). He died on 20 July 1977 in Paris, France.
