While at the Hollywood School for Girls, one of her instructors was Edith Head and her classmates included Cecilia de Mille, Agnes de Mille, Irene Mayer, Valentine Black, Julanne Johnston, and Jean Harlow. During her career, Virginia worked as a writer for film, television and radio in collaboration with companies such as MGM, Paramount Studios, Universal, Banner Productions, Twentieth Century-Fox Studios. She also worked in advertising for M H Kelso Company, Nesbitt, and Walter K. Neill. Virginia was represented by the Pat Holmes Agency.
