- Erik Hakan Lidman was born on January 31, 1915 in Vastra Frolunda, Goteborg, Vasta Gotaland, Sweden. Lidman represented Sweden in the men's 110 meters hurdles at both the 1936 and 1948 Olympics: He finished fourth in the first and placed sixth in the latter. Moreover, Hakan won a silver medal in the men's 110 meters hurdles at the 1938 European Championships and a gold medal in the same event at the 1946 European Championships. Hakan also set a European record of 14.0 in 1940 and was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal that same year. Lidman held the Swedish 110 meters hurdles title from 1935 to 1945 and from 1947 to 1948. After retiring from competitions Hakan went on to serve as director of the Swedish Athletic Association. He died at age 85 on June 6, 2000 in Spain.
